The Layered Floral 3D Embossing Folder from Stampin' Up! used to make 3 cards for my May 2024 classes

Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder Classes

Today I am sharing the cards designed for my May classes using the Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder and 3 different techniques.

Colours used in these projects are:

Reverse Embossing Technique Card

Lemon Lolly card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛”
Basic White – 5⅜” by 3⅝”
Basic White – 5¼” by 3½” – Embossed using the Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder
Basic White – 5½” by 3¾” – for the inside
Basic White – 3¼” by 2¼” – for die-cutting a label using the Nested Essentials Dies

We placed the embossed panel, face down with the debossed side facing up, onto grid paper (any scrap paper would do) and using a Sponge Dauber coloured in the large flower petal with Gorgeous Grape ink. There is no need to be neat or to stay within the petals.

Next, using a different Sponge Daubers we added Granny Apple Green to all the leaves and Lemon Lolly to the large flower centres and all the smaller flowers. At this point the embossed panel looks like a hot mess!

Then the fun started. We took a well inked Memento Tuxedo Black ink and swiped it multiple times across inked panel. The result is amazing, the bright flowers and leaves really pop out of the black background. This panel was then set aside to dry, this takes 5 – 8 minutes.

Meanwhile, we stamped the sentiment from the Cheerful Daisies stamp set onto the die cut label using Gorgeous Grape ink and set it aside.

When the embossed panel was dry it was adhered to the 5⅜” by 3⅝” layer of Basic White card. A length of Glittered Organdy Ribbon was wrapped around the panel and secured on the back with Sellotape.

The large image from the Blessing From Home was stamp set onto the stitched circle in Basic Gray ink and used Water Color Pencils and Water Painters to colour it in. I mounted the coloured circle on a slightly larger circle cut from the larger square. It was added to the card front on Dimensionals.

Cake Soiree by Stampin' Up!

Chocolate Cake Soiree

Today’s card, featuring a spectacular Chocolate Cake made using the Cake Soiree stamp set and Sweet Cake framelit dies, was inspired by a stunning card made by Carolyn Bennie, a fellow demonstrator from Australia. I love Carolyn’s technique for water colouring on dark cardstock and couldn’t wait to give it a go.

I began by stamping the gorgeous ‘floral cake’ image in Versamark Ink onto a scrap piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock. I covered the stamped image with White Embossing Powder and heat set it using my Heat Tool. When the image was dry I added colour using my Watercolor Pencils; starting with the lightest Calypso Coral and working through the Melon Mambo and finishing with touches of Rich Razzelberry to add intensity. I added a little Daffodil Delight to the flower centres as well. I love the soft look of this technique. Following Carolyn’s tutorial I then added Early Espresso shadowing on the cake itself, it does give a subtle impression of dimension. The cake was then die cut using my Big Shot and the Sweet Cake framelit dies.

I die cut the cake base and stand from scrap Whisper White cardstock and added them to the back of the die cut cake with Tombow Liquid Glue.

I took a Thick Whisper White card base and added a 5½” by 3¾” layer of Chocolate Chip cardstock. This was topped with a panel of Calypso Coral dsp 5⅜” by 3⅝” taken from the Delightful Daisy dsp pack. The cake was added to the lower right corner with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Using Versamark ink I stamped the Happy Birthday from the same stamp set, having masked off the rest of the sentiment with a post it note onto a scrap of Chocolate Chip cardstock. I added White Embossing Powder and set it with my Heat Tool before trimming it out with scissors and adding it to the card front on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
