Calm & Quiet Spotlight Technique Card

May be a graphic of text

Hello and welcome to the New Catalogue Blog Hop where we are sharing projects made using product form the New 2023 – 2024 Annual Catalogue. Today I am showcasing the spotlight technique using the Calm & Quiet stamp set and the Stampin’ Blends Pens.

Colours used in this project are:

To recreate the calm and quiet card, you will need:

Old Olive card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛”
Smoky Slate card – 5⅜” by 3⅝”
Basic White card – 5¼” by 3½”
Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” – for the inside

I stamped the lakeside scene in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and die cut a circle from the image using one of the stitched circles from the Stylish Shapes Dies.

I set the die cut circle aside and adhered the stamped panel to the Smoky Slate layer using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The same glue was used to adhere the layer to the Old Olive card base.

I coloured in the image using the following Blends Alcohol Pens – Balmy Blue, Pool Party, Lemon Lolly, Old Olive, Smoky Slate, Gray Granite and Crumb Cake.

A sweet card made using the Sale-a-Bration Country Florals embossing folder

Colouring in the Country Floral Embossing Folder

Today I am sharing a card made using the gorgeous new Country Floral Dynamic Textured Impressions Embossing folder. This folder is one of the new Sale-a-Bration items available to choose for free with a £45 order.

Making the card

I took a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” and ran it through the Big Shot with the Country Floral embossing folder.

I coloured in the flowers and leaves  using  Stampin Blends Alcohol Markers in the light & dark Rich Razzelberry , light & dark Pool Party and light & dark Granny Apple Green. This really makes the images pop of the panel.

I rounded the lower right corner of the embossed piece and glued it to a panel of Balmy Blue cardstock 5½” by 3¾” with Multipurpose Liquid adhesive. I wrapped a length of Rich Razzelberry velvet ribbon around the panel adhering it to the back with Sellotape.

The sentiment from the Lasting Lily stamp set was stamped in Rich Razzelberry ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and cut it out using scissors. I added it to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.  I added the panel to a Rich Razzelberry card base with Stampin Dimensionals.

I took a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝”, rounded the bottom right corner and added a strip of Share What You Love dsp. I used another strip of the same dsp to decorate an envelope.

Colouring in an embossing folder adds a whole new dimension to a project

Lovely Autumn card using the falling leaves image from the Blended Seasons stamp set

Blended Seasons Falling Leaves

Today I am using the gorgeous falling leaves from the Blended Seasons stamp set to make another card. This time I have used some of the new Stampin’ Blends to colour the leaves in.

Making the Falling Leaves card

I started by stamping the sentiment from the Blended Seasons stamp set using Momento Tuxedo Black ink in the lower left corner of a Whisper White panel 4 ¾” by 3 ½”. I then stamped the leaf image in Momento Tuxedo Black ink at the top of the panel and a couple of leaves at the bottom of the panel by the sentiment.

Lovely Autumn card using the falling leaves image from the Blended Seasons stamp set

www.crafty-rootes.com – Blended Seasons falling leaves by Stampin’ Up!

I used the light Granny Apple Green, light Daffodil Delight and light Pineapple Punch Stampin’ Blends to colour in the leaves, these pens colour in so smoothly and blend so well and the colours are so vibrant.

Taking a scrap of Daffodil Delight cardstock and the Decorative Ribbon Punch I punched a strip3 ½” long and adhered it to the bottom of the Whisper White panel using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I scored and folded a Thick Whisper White card base and added a 5⅝” by 3⅞” panel of dsp from the Tropical Escape dsp stack using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The stamped panel was added to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The card was finished with a scattering of Glitter Enamel Dots

If that is not enough SU are releasing a new collection of Watercolor Pencils – whoo hoo, and they are gorgeous colours.

I have made a quick card today showing off one of the gorgeous stamps from the Blended Seasons stamp set.

Making the card

I started by cutting a panel of Whisper White 5⅛” by 3½” using my Stampin’ Trimmer. I inked up the gorgeous flower stamp with Momento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped it in the lower right corner of the panel.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Blended Seasons by Stampin’ Up!

I kept the colouring fairly simple using the Granny Apple Green light and dark Blends pens for the leaves and the light and dark Flirty Flamingo Blends for the flowers with a little light Calypso Coral for the flower centres. I absolutely love the vibrancy of the Stampin’ Blends. I rounded the upper left corner of the panel using the Detailed Trio Punch.

I rounded the same rounded corner of a 5⅝” by 4” panel of Granny Apple Green cardstock and added it to the a Thick Whisper White card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. To add some extra interest I adhered a ¼” strip of Flirty Flamingo cardstock across the green panel before adding the stamped layer on top using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Sweet Animal Outings card featuring the Giraffes by Stampin' Up!

Animal Outings gorgeous Giraffes

Today I have been playing with the quirky Animal Outing stamp set. I was lucky enough to go to OnStage in April and this was an all attendee gift ……..lucky me. For those that don’t know OnStage is the fantastic twice yearly event  for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators where we get together to try out new product, new techniques and generally have a fantastic crafty time. This is the first time I have had a chance to play with this fabulous set.

Making the Card

Sweet Animal Outings card featuring the Giraffes by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Animal Outings Giraffes by Stampin’ Up!

I started by stamping the circle from the Swirly Frames stamp set in Granny Apple Green ink onto a panel of Whisper White cardstock 3 ½” by 3 ½”. I then cut this out using the Layering Circle dies and my Big Shot. I masked off the edge of the die cut circle and stamped the sweet leaf image randomly on the inside of the circle. Using a Blender Pen I pulled in the colour from the edges of the leaves to give them a little depth.

Taking some scrap Whisper White cardstock I stamped 2 giraffes from the Animal Outings stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and die cut both images using the Animal Friends dies and my Big Shot. I coloured both images using the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight and the Light and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends.

I added the stamped circle to a panel of Whisper White measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝” and placed the giraffes onto  the circle, one with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and the other on Stampin’ Dimensionals…….. they looks so cute.

I rounded the upper left and lower right corners with the Detailed Trio Punch and added the panel to a layer of So Saffron cardstock  5⅝” by 3⅞” with identical rounded corners. I then added the panel to a Granny Apple Green card base with the same rounded corners.

I punched out a number of leaves from Granny Apple Green cardstock using the Leaf Punch and tucked them around the circle.

This is such a sweet card. I hope you like it.

Get Well with a Blossoming Basket

I love the new Blossoming Basket stamp set and co-ordinating Basket Weave Embossing Folder; one of the additional Sale-a-Bration choices you can earn with a £90 order until the end of March 2018. I used the set today to make a sweet get well soon card for a friend.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Blossoming Basket stamp set and Basket Weave Embossing Folder

I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock 3¼” by 3⅛” and stamped the cute basket using Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I used a selection of Stampin’ Blends Pens to colour in the image – Dark Pink Pirouette and Light & Dark Rich Razzelberry for the flowers. Light & Dark Old Olive and Light Smoky Slate for the leaves and Light & Dark Soft Sky for the basket. I stamped the sweet little butterfly from the same set on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, coloured it in with the Dark Soft Sky and Light Rich Razzelberry Stampin’ Blends before cutting it out with scissors.

Taking a piece of Whisper White cardstock 5⅞” by 2½” I ran it through the Big Shot using the Basket Weave Embossing Folder. I love the dimension this gives, it is gorgeous. I added the textured panel to the front of a Rich Razzelberry card base. The stamped panel was added to the card front on Stampin’ Dimensionals then I added the tiny butterfly to the basket handle before adding some Basic Rhinestones to the image.

The sentiment from the Apron of Love stamp set was stamped in Rich Razzelberry ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and trimmed out with scissors. I added it to the basket using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

Stampin' Up! Beautiful Day stamp set

Beautiful Day for a Butterfly

Today I’ve been playing with 2 new products – the Beautiful Day Stamp Set from the Spring/Summer 2018 catalogue and the gorgeous Tutti-Frutti Cards and Envelopes which are a free Sale-a-Bration choice with a £45 order.

Butterfly from Beautiful Day stamp set for a Get Well card

www.crafty-rootes.com-Beautiful Day Stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I started by stamping the stunning butterfly image in Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto a Whisper White cardstock panel 4⅞” by 3⅝”. I wanted to create an ombre effect when colouring the butterfly and chose to use Stampin’ Blends to achieve this effect.

Ombre colouring for a Beautiful Day Butterfly

www.crafty-rootes.com-Beautiful Day Stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I started with the Dark Cherry Cobbler and used small feather strokes in each section of the butterfly wings in turn. Next I used the Light Cherry Cobbler Blends Pen and deliberately did not blend the 2 shades together. I repeated the feathering using the Dark Calypso Coral then the Light Calypso Coral Blends Pen. The centre sections I coloured using the Dark and Light Daffodil Blends Pen the same fashion

Gorgeous sparkly Butterfly get well card

I mounted 2 strips of Daffodil Delight cardstock, 4 ¾” by 1⅛” behind the stamped Whisper White piece offset to the top left with the one piece and to the bottom right with the second piece. I really like this offset partial mount, it is really quirky but very effective. The panels were added with Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The whole piece was then added to the front of a Tutti-Frutti card base on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stampin' Up! Beautiful Day stamp set

www.crafty-rootes.com-Beautiful Day Stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I stamped the sentiment from the Apron of Love stamp set in Calypso Coral ink onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and added a banner end using Paper Snips. I added a tiny scalloped Daffodil Delight cardstock border to the bottom in the sentiment having punched it out using the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch. The sentiment was added to the card front using Tombow. To finish I added some of the Tutti-Frutti Adhesive Backed Sequins and covered the central Daffodil Delight sections in Clear Wink of Stella. Gorgeous!

Soft pastel shades for a thank you card

Heartfelt Blooms with added colour

Heartfelt Blooms is a fab new stamp set which will be available from tomorrow, free in Sale-a-Bration with £45 order from my online store.

When I took the stamp out of the case I was a bit surprised to see that the face of the rubber stamp had very little texture, I wondered if it was defective. I inked up the image using Smoky Slate ink and stamped it onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and WOW the image had so much definition, I loved it.

I took the gorgeous new Stampin’ Blends in light & dark Pink Pirouette, light & dark Old Olive, light Daffodil Delight, light Rich Razzelberry & light Calypso Coral and coloured in the flowers and leaves giving the image a really soft look.
