A lovely flap closure Christmas card made using Stampin' Up products

Perfectly Plaid Class Projects

Today I am sharing the cards we made in class this week using the gorgeous Perfectly Plaid stamp set and the co-ordinating Pine Tree Punch. This is a great set, fab for beginner stampers as it is so easy to create great looking cards with this bundle.

To recreate the Front Flap over card you will need:

Real Red or Cherry Cobbler card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” x 2
DSP 4½” by 3”
Real Red 6½” by 1” scored at 2½”
Real Red or Gold Glimmer 2¼” by 3½”
Whisper White scrap

www.crafty-rootes.com – Perfectly Plaid stamp set and the Pine Tree Punch used for October classes

We added the dsp to one of Whisper White panels using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and used the same glue to adhere this panel to the front of the card base. Depending on which dsp they were given the ladies used either a Real Red or Cherry Cobbler card base. The tree was stamped using Call Me Clover ink on the Whisper White panel for the inside of the card, on the envelope and on scrap Whisper White. The tree on the scrap cardstock was punched out using the Pine Tree Punch. The ladies die cut an oval from scrap Whisper White and a Glimmer scalloped oval from either Real Red Glimmer of Gold Glimmer using the layering Oval dies. The sentiment from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set was stamped in Blueberry Bushel ink near the bottom of the Whisper White oval. The punched out tree was added above on Dimensionals.

We folded the thin red strip on the scoreline and adhered the long side, with the fold just protruding over the edge, to the inside of the card – where you would normally write your message. Adhere the inside panel over the top of the strip to hide it. We closed the card and brought the flap over and adhered the White oval to the front of the strip and added the Glitter scalloped oval to the back of the flap and the white oval hiding the messy bits and the card is finished.

To recreate the Trio of Trees card you will need:

Blueberry Bushel card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝”
Whisper White – 4⅛” by 2½”
Whisper White – 4⅛” by ½”
Real Red Glimmer paper – 4⅛” by ½”

www.crafty-rootes.com – Perfectly Plaid stamp set and the Pine Tree Punch used for October classes

We randomly stamped the small pinecone in Blueberry Bushel ink onto the front of the Blueberry Bushel card base. The skeleton tree was stamped in Shaded Spruce ink  on the front of the envelope, the large Whisper White panel for the inside, twice on the 2½” Whisper White strip and once on scrap Whisper White – this last one would be punched out. Those with a steady hand added the leaf infill using Call Me Clover ink. The punched tree was added to the 2½” strip on Dimensionals and the red glimmer strip added to the bottom. The sentiment from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set was stamped on the thin Whisper White strip in Real Red ink and added to the card front with liquid adhesive. The inside panel was added with the same adhesive.

To recreate the Simple Tree card you will need

Call Me Clover card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” x 2
Whisper White – 5⅜” by by 2¼”
Real Red Glimmer 2¼” by 3½”
Whisper White 2¼” by 3½”

Using the Stamparatus we stamped the Buffalo Check onto the Whisper White strip using Blueberry Bushel ink. The strip was then glued to one of the Whisper White panels. This was then glued to the card front. We die cut a Whisper White oval and Real Red Glimmer scalloped oval using the Layering Ovals dies. The tree was stamped in Call Me Clover ink onto the white oval and the the sentiment added in Blueberry Bushel ink. The ovals were then adhered and added to the card front with dimensionals. The inner layer was glued inside the card.

Beautiful Friend stamp set makes a pretty floral card for a team training swap

Beautiful Friendship swaps

Today I am sharing a sweet card made as a swap for last weeks team training event using my favourite stamp set – Beautiful Friendship. I can’t seem to put this set down, I love it.

To recreate the Beautiful Friendship card you will need;

Real Red card base 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper right corner
Garden Green 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper right corner
Whisper White 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper right corner x 2

This is such a simple card but because I was doing  a number of them as swaps I decided to stamp the sentiment and the flower image using the Stamparatus. This really speeds up the process.

I stamped the flowers in Real Red ink, I love the texture you get with this stamp. The sentiment was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I actually used 2 different sentiments from the same set.

Sweet gingham Magnolia cards using Stampin' Up! products

Checked Magnolias

I have been messing about with my Stamparatus and various background stamps this week. I love being able to re-stamp these large images to achieve a richer, more colour saturated look. Here are a couple of the projects I came up with.

To recreate the checked magnolia cards you will need;

Thick Whisper White card base 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Whisper White cardstock 5 ½” by 3 ¾”

Seaside Spray card base 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Blueberry Bushel cardstock 5⅝” by 3⅞”
Whisper White cardstock 5 ½” by 3 ¾” x 3
Scrap Whisper White

Using the Stamparatus I stamped the large Buffalo Check image in Seaside Spray ink onto one of the Whisper White panels. I repeated the stamping with another panel of Whisper White and Blueberry Bushel ink.

The large magnolia bloom was then stamped over the top of both panels in Memento Tuxedo Black.  To get a good dark image these were stamped 2 or 3 times.

I die cut both the magnolias using the Magnolia Memory dies.

A mirrored tree image using the Rooted in Nature stamp set

Mirrored Rooted in Nature

Today I have been playing with my Stamparatus and have come up with a lovely mirrored Rooted in Nature stamp set.

Making the Mirrored Rooted in Nature card

I began with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅞” by 2¾”. I placed it in the corner of my Stamparatus , placed the cut through tree trunk image on the upper half  and picked up the stamp using one of the clear panels. I inked the stamp in Balmy Blue ink and stamped it down. I then rotated the Whisper White panel through 180⁰ and stamped again without re-inking to give a mirror image.

I placed the lovely tall tree image over the stamped tree ring, picked it up with the other panel. Inked it up with Early Espresso Ink and stamped it down. The whisper White cardstock was again rotated through 180⁰ and the image was stamped again. I love this look.

A mirrored tree image using the Rooted in Nature stamp set

www.crafty-rootes.com – Rooted in Nature stamp set and the mirror technique

I added a 5⅞” by ½” strip of Blueberry Bushel cardstock to either side of the stamped panel using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and added this piece to the front of a Balmy Blue card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

A mirrored tree image using the Rooted in Nature stamp set

www.crafty-rootes.com – Rooted in Nature stamp set and the mirror technique

The sentiment from the same stamp set was stamped in Blueberry Bushel onto a scrap of Whisper White and I flagged the ends using the Tailored Tag Punch. It was added to the front of the card with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. To complete the card I added a piece of ⅛” Blueberry Bushel ribbon and tied it in a bow.

A sweet and simple card, I hope you like it.

A country style Christmas card using Stampin' Up! products

Country style Christmas

Today I have been making a Country style Christmas card using the fabulous Buffalo Check stamp set and the In the Woods framelit dies.

Making the Country Style Christmas card

I started by getting out my Stamparatus and inking up the Buffalo Check stamp with Poppy Parade ink and stamped it down onto a panel of Whisper White cardstock. I like to use the Stamparatus so that I can stamp repeatedly if I need to.

When the Poppy Parade ink was dry I added lines using a Mossy Meadow marker, I really like the added interest this gives. I then trimmed the panel down to 5½” by 3¾” using my Paper Trimmer.

Taking a panel of Mossy Meadow cardstock 5⅝” by 3⅞” I die cut the 2 Christmas tree shapes from the centre then  adhered this the stamped panel to a layer of Mossy Meadow. Love that you can use the middle of a panel then cover it up and no-one will ever know!!

Using Mini Dimensionals I added the top layer of the tree to the base layer, pulling out the little leafy pieces. I covered the tree in Clear Wink of Stella, you can never have enough bling! I also added some of the gorgeous Red Rhinestones before adhering the tree to the card front. I inked up the sentiment using a Mossy Meadow Marker and stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White and trimmed to fit. I added a strip of Silver Metallic Edged Ribbon adhered on the back of the panel with Sellotape and added a bow using a Mini Glue Dot.

Christmas Wreath using the Painted Harvest stamp set

Today I am sharing the card I made for this month’s team challenge the theme of which was ‘make a Christmas project using non Christmas supplies. I decided to try making a Christmas Wreath using my Stamparatus and the Painted Harvest stamp set which hasn’t had a lot of love recently

Before starting this card I watched the video by Dawn of DoStamping –  where she explains how to make a template to use with the Stamparatus. I used my retired Square dies and Window Sheet to make the template for this particular; I wanted a larger sized wreath.

Making the Christmas Wreath card

I began by placing my Window Sheet template in the corner of my Stamparatus. I placed a 3¾” square of Whisper White cardstock in the negative space at the centre of the template; the square is exactly the same size as the negative space. I placed the solid leaf stamp onto the Whisper White cardstock and picked it up with one of the plates.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Christmas Wreath made using the Painted Harvest stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I inked the stamp with Granny Apple Green ink and stamped it down. I rotated the cardstock one turn within the template and inked up and stamped the leaf image in the same way. I repeated this step by stamping the leaf all the way round the panel.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Christmas Wreath made using the Painted Harvest stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

Next I positioned the more detailed leaf stamp, inked up in Mossy Meadow ink and stamped it around the wreath as before. I stamped the sentiment from the Mistletoe Season stamp set in the centre of the wreath in Real Red ink and added some of the gorgeous new Red Rhinestones to give some colour and shine.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Christmas Wreath made using the Painted Harvest stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I ran a 5⅝” by 3⅞” panel of Real Red cardstock through the Big Shot with the Layering Leaves embossing folder and added the stamped panel on top with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I wrapped a piece of ⅜” Real Red Cotton Ribbon around the join securing it on the back with Sellotape. The whole panel was then added to a Thick Whisper White card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Finally I added a bow in the same ribbon.

Sitting Pretty thinking of you card

Sitting Pretty for a simple thinking of you card

Today I have been making a simple thinking of you card using the Sitting Pretty stamp set and my Stamparatus.

Ink to Block Technique

Sitting Pretty thinking of you card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Sitting Pretty thinking of you card

I began by taking a large acrylic block, size E. I added Granny Apple Green ink  by pressing the ink pad directly to the top of the block. I added Balmy Blue ink to the bottom of the block then spritzed the block using a Stampin’ Spritzer filled with water: I find 3 – 4 sprays works best. You need the ink to be moving and blending on the block. Turn the block over and place it down on the Thick Whisper White card front and leave for a couple of minutes for the ink to be absorbed onto the card. Lift the block off and dab up any excess water. Set aside to dry.

Sitting Pretty thinking of you card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Sitting Pretty thinking of you card

When the card base was dry I placed it into the Stamparatus and held it in position with a magnet. I inked up the gorgeous decorative bench from the Sitting Pretty stamp set with Momento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped it down. I repeated this twice more to get a really dark image.

Sitting Pretty thinking of you card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Sitting Pretty thinking of you card

I added the sentiment form the Sitting Here stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and added some Faceted Dots to finish the card.

Such a simple but effective card and I love the fact that every time you try this background technique you get a different look. Love it! I really hope you like it.

Special birthday card using Stampin' Up! product

Perennial Birthday with Large Numbers

Today I am sharing a card I made for one of my team mates who celebrated her special birthday in the week prior to OnStage in Telford – so the partying continued………what can I say!

I chose the large sentiment from the Perennial Birthday stamps set and mounted it onto one of the plates of my Stamparatus Stamp Positioning Tool. I placed a panel of Blushing Bride cardstock 5” by 3¼” onto the platform then inked up the stamp using Blushing Bride ink and stamped multiple times moving  the panel down using the hinge stamping method. I die cut the largest scalloped circle from the Layering Circle dies from the centre of a panel of Chocolate Chip cardstock 5⅛” by 3⅜” and used the remains of the panel to mount the stamped panel and set it aside.

Taking a panel of Whisper White cardstock approx 3½” by 3½” and my Big Shot I die cut the largest stitched circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelit Dies. I inked up the flower and leaf stamps from the set using Flirty Flamingo, Rich Razzelberry and Wild Wasabi Markers and stamped them onto tthe stitched circle.

Using the Large Number dies I die cut a 5 and a 0 from Champagne Foil and a further 3 times each from scrap Whisper White cardstock. I glued the die cuts together using Tombow Liquid Adhesive ending with the Champagne Foil on top. I added the numbers to the stitched circle using Tombow and mounted the circle onto the die cut Chocolate Chip scalloped circle.
