A card for the Crafty Collaborations Vacation Blog Hop in spired by the North-East coast of Scotland

Crafty Collaboration Vacation Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Vacation Blog Hop where we are thinking about holidays. I know many people can’t wait to start travelling again and are dreaming about where they will go first. I am going to Scotland to see my family in August, they live on the North-East coast and my card reflects the sea and coast. This is a picture of the place where my Mum and Dad are from with the ruined 14th century red sandstone castle on the cliff by the beach……. just beautiful.

Colours used in this project:

To recreate the vacation card, you will need:

Balmy Blue card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper right corner
Pacific Point card – 5⅝” by 3⅞” – rounded upper right corner
Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper right corner – one for the inside

I began by stamping the lighthouse, from the Sailing Home stamp set in Cinnamon Cider ink onto one of the Basic White panels. I stamped the image again on a Post It Note, cut it out to use as a mask. The mask was placed over the stamped image.

The ‘cliff and beach’ image from the Arctic Bears stamp set was then stamped in Basic Gray ink. The mask was left in place and the sailing boat was added in Basic Gray ink.

Using a Blending Brush and a piece of ripped printer paper I added Balmy Blue ink to create a sky and Pacific Point to create the sea.

I used Sponge Daubers to add Granny Apple Green ink to the cliff tops, Cinnamon Cider to the cliff face and base of the lighthouse and So Saffron to the beach area. The boat was coloured using the Poppy Parade, Crumb Cake, Pacific Point and So Saffron Blends Markers.

The birds were added in Basic Gray ink before the stamped panel was added to the Pacific Point panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I used the same glue to add the panel to the Balmy Blue card front.

Lighthouse on a stormy sea featuring products by Stampin' Up! products

Sailing Home in stormy seas

I have been on a mission recently trying to use more Designer Series Paper. Like many of my friends I buy the dsp, love it, stroke it but struggle to use it………. So here is a card I came up with using dsp from the See A Silhouette pack.

To recreate the stormy sea card you will need;

Night of Navy card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper right corner
Whisper White 5⅝” by 3⅞” – rounded upper right corner
See A Silhouette dsp 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper right corner
Whisper White 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper right corner for the inside
Scrap Whisper White

The lighthouse from the Sailing Home stamp set was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock. The lighthouse image was then die cut using the Smooth Sailing dies.

I used the following Blends Markers to colour in the image – Light Smoky Slate, light Balmy Blue and light So Saffron.

The sentiment from the Colorful Seasons stamp set was stamped in Versamark ink onto the piece of designer series paper, covered with white embossing powder which was heat set using my Heat Tool – I did remember to use my embossing budding before I stamped – go me!

The DSP was glued to the larger Whisper White panel using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. This panel was then added to the front of the Night of Navy card front using the same adhesive.

I added the lighthouse to the card front on Dimensionals.

The lighthouse was stamped onto the second panel of Whisper White and glued to the inside of the card. The same image was stamped onto the envelope.

I love the stormy look that the dsp gives to this card. I hope you like it.

We stamped and die cut the boat, coloured it in using the Stampin Blends Markers. The sentiment and small birds were then stamped on the Whisper White Circle and the boat added with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

We stamped the compass and anchor randomly down the strip of Whisper White in Coastal Cabana and Early Espreeso inks. The thin strip of Early Espresso was added to the left side and the panel added to the card front with glue. The circle piece was then added on Dimensionals.

We stamped the lighthouse in Early Espresso ink onto the Whisper White rectangle and coloured it using the Crumb Cake light and Smoky Slate light Stampin Blends markers. The birds were then added and the stamped panel added to the Early Espresso Rectangle.

One of the birds from the Hugs from Shelli paper pumpkin kit was randomly stamped in Early Espresso down the Pool Party layer. The bodies of the birds were then painted using Frost White Shimmer paint to give a pearlescent look to the birds. The group of little birds then filled in any large gaps. This piece was then glued to the Card front.

We die cut the rope from the thin piece of Early Espresso card stock, cut it in half and added a piece at the top and the remainder at the bottom, butted up against the stamped piece.

The sentiment was stamped then punched out using the Everyday Label punch and backed onto a punched out piece of Coastal Cabana. The sentiment was then added to the back of the stitched rectangles and the whole piece added to the card front on Dimensionals.

We randomly stamped the smaller boat on both pieces of Pool Party cardstock and adhered then to the front panels of the card front.

The boat, sentiment and small birds were then stamped on the Whisper White cardstock. This was added to the Early Espresso rectangle and then glued to the left side of the card front.

We really enjoyed making these cards. I hope you like them.
