3 cards designed for my February 2024 classes using the Trusty Tools stamp set, Trusty Tools die and the Trusty Toolbox dsp by Stampin' Up!

Trusty Tools Classes

Today, I am sharing the cards I designed for my February Trusty Tools classes. Each of the ladies coming to classes were given a 6” by 6” pack of the Trusty Toolbox dsp to use when making the projects. I love giving dsp samples to my class attendees, especially if we use some of the paper in classes. Many of the ladies only craft when they come to class so I like to give them new techniques and things to try.

Colours in these cards are:

Pop-Up Front Panel card

This card was inspired by Mel Brown of Inspired Crafts

Thick Basic White card base – 10½” by 4” – scored at 5¾”, 6¾”, 8¾” & 9¾”
Thick Basic White – 5¾” by 2⅝” – scored at 4” & 5”
Copper Clay – 4” by 2½”
Trusty Toolbox dsp – 3¾” by 3½”
Trusty Toolbox dsp – 3¾” by 1¾”
Basic White – 3¼” by ¾”
Scarp Basic White – 4⅛” by 2¾”

We each choose the dsp patterns we wanted to use and cut them down to size. They were glued to the larger panel of Thick Basic White card. We folded on the score lines and added Tear & Tape to the 1” tab, folding it over to form the bottom of the card.

A masculine card made using the Half Full stamp set

Half Full Masculine card

Yesterday was the 97th birthday of my lovely father-in-law and this is the card I made him using the half full stamp set. He loves a glass or two of red wine, preferably Shiraz but anything red will do so this stamp set was perfect.

Making the Half Full card

I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅞” by 3¼”. I stamped the wine bottle in Momento Tuxedo Black ink randomly over the cardstock and added a couple of wine glasses.

A masculine card made using the Half Full stamp set

www.crafty-rootes.com – Half Full stamp set by Stampin’ Up! for a masculine card

I stamped the sentiment in Merry Merlot onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and added a strip of Gold Foil to the top and bottom with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The sentiment piece was then added to the card front on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Unfortunately he ended up in hospital last week having collapsed at home. He had a pacemaker put in earlier this week and is now getting back on his feet and doing well.

I am really happy with this card, hope you like it.

Virant floral card

Beautiful Bouquet Spray for an anniversary

We are using the gorgeous Beautiful Bouquet for classes this month and I have been using the set over the last few days to make some samples for my inspiration table. I love the versatility of the set, it is so easy to make a clean and simple card or you can go mad with layering for a totally different look. I also love the many sentiments this set comes with; the font is so dainty, just beautiful.

Gorgeous anniversay card

I wanted to make a card featuring a floral spray rather than a bouquet and with a very simple colour palette. My starting point was the 2 circles which were left over from another project, one in Champagne Foil and the other from the Wood Textures dsp!

I inked up the flower stamp with Night of Navy ink and stamped it 4 times onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock without re-inking. I love that we can get 3 or 4 different shades of the same colour from an ink pad. I did the same thing with Bermuda Bay ink and then die cut all of the flowers using the co-ordinating Beautiful Bunch dies. I love Lemon Lime Twist with both Bermuda Bay and Night of Navy and chose to die cut the leaves from Lemon Lime Twist cardstock. I added a ½” strip of Night of Navy cardstock and a ⅜” strip of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock to ground the circles which I had adhered slightly off centre.

I stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy ink onto a Thick Whisper White cardstock and added the leaves and flowers using a combination of Tombow Liquid Adhesive and Stampin’ Dimensionals.  I wanted to add a little more shimmer to the card but could find something I liked; then I spotted some Champagne Foil scraps and used these to punch out small ⅛” and ¼” circles using the Hand Held Circle punches. I glued these down with Tombow.
