Honeycomb Hive

Today I am sharing a sweet Honeycomb hive card inspired by a gorgeous card I saw on Pinterest a while ago. The original card was made by Libby Dyson, a demo from Australia – click on her name to see her original.

To recreate the Honeycomb Hive card you will need:

Thick Whisper White card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝”
Tropical Oasis dsp – 3½” by 3½”
Scrap Whisper White

I began by die cutting the hive shape from the Whisper White panel using the Detailed Bee dies. I also die cut the honeycomb from scrap Whisper White.

Using Crushed Curry ink and my Stamparatus I stamped the hive image on the piece of Tropical Oasis dsp – I chose the pineapple print – I just wanted a subtle pattern to show through the ink. I glued the stamped dsp to the card front after working out the position of the negative hive space.

I stamped the larger bee in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto scrap White card and die cut it out. The stripes were coloured using the dark Daffodil Delight Blends Marker and the bee added to the card front with liquid glue.

The sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set was stamped in the same black ink, punched out with the Classic Label Punch and added to the card front with liquid glue. I added Clear Wink of Stella to the bee’s wings and a trio of Holiday Rhinestones to complete the card.
