Butterfly Wrap Around, Pinched Top Bag – Stamping Dreams Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Stamping Dreams Blog hop where our theme is ‘any but a card’. I have used the Sketched Butterflies stamp set to make a sweet little wrap around, pinched top bag.

Colours used in this project are:

To recreate the wrap around, pinched top gift bag, you will need:

Thick Basic White card – 2¾” by 2¾”
Basic White card – 8⅜” by 4½”
Scrap Basic White card

Using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool, I scored the small square of Thick Basic White card at ⅜” on all four sides.

I wedged out all four tabs and used Mini Glue Dots to add each tab to the outside of each side of the box. By gluing the tabs to the outside gives a much neater finish as they will not be seen when the box is finished.

I randomly stamped the butterfly, from the Sketched Butterflies stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink all over the 8⅜” by 4½” piece of Basic White card. I used the light and dark Fresh Freesia light and dark Lemon Lolly and light and dark Flirty Flamingo Blends Pens to add colour to the butterflies.

The stamped layer was laid face down and strip of Tear n Tape was added to the bottom edge and the right-hand side. I removed part of the backing tape along the bottom and pressed the tape edge to the centre of one of the side panels. I carefully wrapped the layer around the box sides pressing it into place. When you reach the starting point, remove the remaining piece of tape and close the back by overlapping the edge.

I pinched the top together and punched a hole. A piece of Lemon Lolly ribbon was fed through and secured. This holds the top together.

On scrap Basic White card, I stamped the sentiment from the Poised Peony stamp set in Flirt Flamingo ink. I used a die from the Enduring Beauty die set to cut out the image. I ran the sentiment through twice as I wanted the tag to be smaller. A hole was punched in the label and a piece of Lemon Lolly Baker’s Twine fed through. I fed the twine through the ribbon and tied it in a bow.

A tiny stamped butterfly was added to the label to finish off the gift bag.

Welcome to October’s Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop. My name is Mo Rootes and I live near Cambridge in the UK. If you have hopped over from the lovely Pia Gerhardt I am sure you loved her project. The theme this month is a Christmas jump start – with this in mind I designed this month’s class projects around the gorgeous Winter Woods stamp set and co-ordinating In the Woods dies.

Row of Trees Card

I began with a panel of Whisper White 5⅛” by 3½”. I inked up the row of trees in Soft Suede ink and added a little of the gorgeous Frost White Shimmer Paint with a Sponge Dauber and stamped across the Whisper White panel twice.

Taking the snow bank edgelit from the In the Woods Framelit Dies, I die cut the bottom of the panel before adding the stamped panel to a layer of Soft Suede cardstock 5¼” by 3⅝” using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I then added the whole piece offset onto a Soft Sea Foam card base on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The greeting from the Beautiful Blizzard stamp set was stamped on scrap Whisper White cardstock in Shaded Spruce ink. This was added to the card base with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. For an bit of extra bling I added a scattering of Iridescent Sequins.

Christmas Tree

I started with a panel of Soft Sea Foam 5⅞” by 3⅞” and stamped the row of trees in Soft Suede ink about half way up the panel. Using Soft Sea Foam ink and the tiny group of stars stamp from the Beautiful Baubles stamp set I stamped randomly above the trees.

I  ran a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 3⅞” by 3” and a piece of Vellum 3⅞” by 2” through the Big Shot with the snow bank edgelit die and added them to the Soft Sea Foam piece with Stampin Dimensionals. I wrapped a piece of the gorgeous Braided Linen Trim around the bottom of the panel, securing it on the back with Sellotape. I added a bow on the top with a Mini Glue Dot.

Next I die cut the Christmas Tree and the inner part of the tree from a piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock 6” by 2⅝” and flipped up the tree flaps and added some Champagne Shimmer Paint with a Sponge Dauber. The tree was added to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive on the bottom and Dimensionals on the top. The whole panel was then added to a Soft Suede card base with a sprinkling of Iridescent Sequins. The sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set was stamped in Shaded Spruce ink onto a scrap of Whisper White and added to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Gift Bag

The sweet bag was made using the Gift Bag Punch Board and a panel of Soft Sea Foam 11” by 7” and following the ‘medium’ bag instructions I punched and scored the bag. I trimmed away the excess pieces and stamped the front panel and closing top flap with the Soft Sea Foam ink and the tiny star stamp from the Beautiful Bauble stamp set. I closed the bottom of the bag using Tear & Tape.

I stamped the tree onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 3½” by 2” using Shaded Spruce Ink and a little Champagne Shimmer Paint added with a Sponge Dauber. I die cut the tree using the In the Woods Framelit dies and attached it to the box with Dimensionals.

I wrapped some ⅛” Whisper White Ribbon around the bag and tied in a bow and added a scatter of Iridescent Sequins.

I am really happy with these projects, I hope you like them. Please hop on to see what Jo Blackman has to share with us, then take the opportunity to hop around to see the rest of the wonderful inspiration provided by the other lovely demos.
