I have been making Christmas cards today for the Christmas Stampathon and out theme this month is ‘Birds & Branches’. I have created a robin perched on a branch card using the Perched in a Tree stamp set.
To recreate the robin on a branch card, you will need:
Balmy Blue card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored and folded at 4⅛” Soft Suede card – 5⅜” by 3⅝” Fitting Florets dsp – 5¼” by 3½” Basic White card – 4” by 3” Basic White strip – ⅜” wide Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” – for the inside Scrap Soft Suede
Using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive, I added the dsp to the Soft Suede panel and wrapped a piece of Red Ribbon around the panel, securing it on the back with Sellotape. The panel was then glued to the Balmy Blue card front using the same liquid glue.

Using the Framed Florets Dies, I die cut an oval from the smaller panel of Basic White card. I stamped the bird on the die cut oval, saving the frame for another project.

I used the following Blends Pens to colour in the image – Poppy Parade, Pumpkin Pie, Pale Papaya, Gray Granite and Crumb Cake.

From the Aspen Dies I cut a branch from the scrap Soft Suede card and glued it to the oval, beneath the bird. The oval was then added to the card front on Dimensionals.

The sentiment from the Framed & Festive stamp set was stamped in Soft Suede onto the strip of Basic White card. I flagged the end and trimmed it down before adding it to the card front with liquid glue.

I love a leafy stamp set; I don’t know why but they really appeal to me and I have been playing with the Artfully Layered stamp set which is new in the January to June 2022 Mini Catalogue.
To recreate the artfully layered 3 panel card, you will need:
Evening Evergreen card base – 8 ¼” by 5⅝” scored at 4⅛” Basic White card – 5⅜” by 4” Soft Succulent card – 5” by 3¾” Basic White card – 5½” by 3 ¾” for the inside Basic White card – 3” by 2”
Using Evening Evergreen ink, I stamped randomly all over the Soft Succulent card panel.

The panel was then cut into four 1¼” strips and glued onto the 5⅜” by 4” panel of Basic White.

I sneaked in a length of Gold Shimmer Ribbon and wrapped it around the stamped panel, securely it on the back with Sellotape before adding the whole panel to the Evening Evergreen card base.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – A monochromatic card made for the Stamping with Friends Blog Hop using the Artfully Layered stamp set
I stamped the sentiment in Evening Evergreen ink onto the small piece of Basic White card and punched it out using the Tailored Tag Punch. The sentiment was added to the card front on Dimensionals.

To finish the card, I added a ribbon bow and a trio of 2021 – 2023 In Color Jewels.
Such a simple card, but so pretty.

Today I am sharing the card I made as my virtual swap for the recent On Tour Demonstrator Training session. As part of the registration the participants were sent a brand-new stamp set called Etched in Nature and we were encouraged to use this set for our virtual swap. Unfortunately, some of the stamp sets turned out to be defective and Stampin’ Up! Being the fabulous company they are replacing all the sets sent out with a set of the demonstrators choice while they work out the problem.
Using my Stamparatus to stamp the image multiple times; I did manage to get an acceptable image.
To recreate the Etched In Nature card, you will need:
Mossy Meadow card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper left corner Real Red – 5⅛” by 3⅜” – rounded upper left corner Basic White – 5” by 3¼” – rounded upper left corner Basic White – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper left corner Scrap Mossy Meadow & Basic White
www.crafty-rootes.com – Etched In Nature stamp set used for my virtual swap for the Stampin’ Up! On Tour event
With the image mounted on the Stamparatus plate I used Mossy Meadow and Real Red Markers to add ink to the stamp. I stamped it on the smaller Basic White panel but didn’t get a good image. So I inked it up again using the same pens and thus time I spritzed it with water in the hope that this would work to spread the ink………. And it worked.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Etched In Nature stamp set used for my virtual swap for the Stampin’ Up! On Tour event
I set the panel aside to dry before adding it to the panel of Real Red with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. When dry I splattered some Mossy Meadow ink onto the panel using the Mossy Meadow Marker.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Etched In Nature stamp set used for my virtual swap for the Stampin’ Up! On Tour event
I stamped the sentiment in Real Red ink onto scrap Basic White ink and die cut it out using the Layering Circle dies and die cut a slightly larger scalloped circle from scrap Mossy Meadow card. They were glued together with the same liquid glue.

I wrapped a length of Polka Dot Tuile Ribbon around he stamped layer and added the panel to the Mossy Meadow card base.

The sentiment was then added over the ribbon on Dimensionals. To complete the card I added a trio of Red Rhinestones.

I couldn’t wait to try out the Birds & Branches stamp set and this is what I have come up with for my first play.
To recreate the Birds & Branches card, you will need:
Balmy Blue card base –- 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” Whisper White – 4⅛” by 2⅞” Cinnamon Cider – 4⅛” by ½” Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝”
I stamped the long branch in Cinnamon Cider ink and added a side branch. The detailed bird was stamped in Old Olive ink and the full bird in Balmy Blue and I added the bird’s feet in Memento Tuxedo Black ink.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – Ag the Birds & Branches stamp set and Autumnal colours
I felt the panel was too bare so I added more branches in the same Cinnamon Cider ink. The ‘leaves’ were inked using the following Stampin’ Write Markers – Cherry Cobbler, Pumpkin Pie and Bumblebee.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – A pretty card made using the Birds & Branches stamp set and Autumnal colours
Using a Sponge, I lightly added Balmy Blue ink to take away the starkness of the background.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – A pretty card made using the Birds & Branches stamp set and Autumnal colours
Using the Ornate Borders Dies and the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine I cut out the dotted border from the strip of Cinnamon Cider ink and added it to the back of the stamped panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – A pretty card made using the Birds & Branches stamp set and Autumnal colours
I used the leaf stamp and Balmy Blue ink to add some tone on tone stamping to the Balmy Blue card base. The stamped panel was then added to the card base with the same liquid adhesive.

Using a Basic Black Marker I added the birds eye and added a trio of Holiday Rhinestones to complete the card.
Pretty …

For April’s classes we used the gorgeous Petal Palette Stamp Set, Petals & More Dies and one of the Petal Pair Embossing Folders to create 3 summery looking cards including an easel card. The ladies who came loved the set and the cards we made.
Card 1
www.crafty-rootes.com – Petal Palette Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!
I wanted to show the ladies the double layer stamping technique and this stamp set was just perfect. We started with a Thick Whisper Whitecard base and added a panel of Whisper White 4¾” by 3” to the centre with a little temporary adhesive. We inked up the large group of roses using Momento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped it in the upper left hand corner making sure to overlap the edge of the layer. The sentiment was stamped in the same ink at the bottom right corner of the Whisper White panel.
We then took the Melon Mambo Watercolor Pencil and scribbled colour onto the roses using a Blender Pen to soften and blend the colour. We used the Lemon Lime Twist Watercolor Pencil to add colour to the leaves and added a little depth with the Old Olive Watercolor Pencil. The Blender Pen was used again to mix the colours.
The Whisper White layer was then separated from the card base, the upper right corner rounded with a ½” WRMK Corner Rounder and added to a Basic Black cardstock layer with an identically rounded corner. The panel was then added to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. We then added Basic Rhinestones to add a little sparkle.
Card 2
www.crafty-rootes.com – Petal Palette Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!
We stamped the same rose image onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and coloured it in with the Watercolor Pencils as before. Using the Petals & More dies and the Big Shot we cut out the stamped and coloured image.
Using the Big Shot again we embossed a strip of Whisper White cardstock 5⅞” by 2¼” using one of the embossing folders in the Petal Pair set. We wrapped a length of Black Shimmer Ribbon around one edge and used Mini Glue Dots to secure the ribbon on the back. This panel was then added to the front of a Lemon Lime Twist card base using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The die cut roses were then added to the right side of the card front.
We stamped the sentiment from the Birthday Banners stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and trimmed it down. We added a scrap strip of Melon Mambo cardstock to the bottom of the sentiment and ticked the end under the flowers and finished with some Basic Rhinestones.
Card 3
www.crafty-rootes.com – Petal Palette Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!
We began by folding and burnishing the Thick Whisper White card base which I had cut at 11⅞” by 4⅛ and scored at 2 15/16” and 5⅞”. We then set this aside.
We stamped the lovely dotted image onto the bottom of a Whisper White panel 4¾“by 3”, about 1” from the bottom using the Momento Tuxedo Black ink stamped off to give a lighter shade. We then added the leaf image in Lemon Lime Twist ink above using both first and second generation ink. I absolutely love this image, so versatile as well.
Onto scrap Whisper White cardstock we stamped the sweet little bird in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and 3 flowers in Melon Mambo ink and die cut them out using the Petals & More dies and the Big Shot. Using the Watercolor Pencils we coloured in the bird………..so cute.
We die cut the label from the Petals & More dies then stamped the sentiment in Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I find it easier to position the sentiment onto the die cut piece rather than stamping and then die cutting – personal preference. The sentiment was added to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The bird was added with its feet resting on the die cut sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals. We added one of the sweet Petal Passion Embellishments to the sentiment strip.
We rounded the upper corners of the stamped Whisper White panel, the Basic Black/Basic Gray panel and the Melon Mambo Panels and glued the 3 together using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. We added the whole panel to the card front using Tombow Liquid Adhesive on the lower part only. The die cut flowers were then added to the inside panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals to support the card front when the card is open.
The ladies really enjoyed making these projects. Hope you like them as well.
