Painter’s Tape Butterflies card – Technique Tuesday Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the Technique Tuesday Blog Hop where we are sharing projects showcasing the painter’s tape technique. This is an oldy but goodie technique and uses painter’s or masking tape, neither of which I had…….. however, washi tape works just as well so that is what I used.

Colours used in this project are:

To recreate the painter’s tape and butterflies’ card, you will need:

Basic Beige card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛”
Basic Black card – 5⅛” by 3⅜”
Basic White card – 5” by 3¼”
Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾”
Scrap Basic White and Basic Black card

I placed strips of Washi Tape, about 5½” long, one at a time onto the open ink pads. I lightly ran my finger along the length to let the tape pickup ink before lifting the tape and placing it onto the smaller panel of Basic White card.

I started with Petal Pink ink, moved onto Bubble Bath ink, then Pool Party ink, Basic Beige and finally Fresh Freesia. Each piece of tape was left in place for a minute or two to allow the ink to transfer before being carefully peeled off.

Using a stamp positioning tool, I inked up the butterflies and stamping each several times to get the depth of Black that I wanted using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. The stamped panel was then adhered to the Basic Black layer and then mounted to the Basic Beige card front on Dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped on scrap Basic White card in Memento Tuxedo Black ink before being punched out with a punch from my stash……. you could use Circle Dies. I glued it to a punched Basic Black Circle and added it to the card front.
