Cards using Stampin' Up product

Petal Passion Stamp-a-Stack

Saturday saw some of my lovely ladies gathering for another Stamp-a-Stack. This time their pack included the gorgeous black and white Petal Passion Designer Series Paper and a pack of Black Rhinestones. The black and white paper is so versatile: you can colour it with Marker Pens or the new Stampin’ Blends. You can stamp on it or add colour with sponges, daubers or Sponge Brayers.

Stunning lit up snow scene

Hometown Greetings Edgelit picture

On Tuesday a lovely group of ladies gathered at my house to make a stunning illuminated picture using the gorgeous Hometown Greetings Edgelit dies which have thankfully carried over and are still available to purchase in my online store.

mounting a picture

www.crafty-rootes.com – Hometown Greetings Edgelits by Stampin’ Up!

The ladies began by taking apart the Ikea picture frame, removing the plastic film from the Perspex panel, placing the cardstock picture mount directly onto the Perspex panel and adding the MDF frame on top. They used some Tear & Tape to adhere the cardstock picture mount to the MDF frame but did not remove the backing from the tape.

Next the ladies glued a 6” by 6” piece of the Merry Little Christmas dsp (retired) to the centre of the piece of white paper which came inside the frame.

Die cuttig Hometown Greetings

www.crafty-rootes.com – Hometown Greetings Edgelits by Stampin’ Up!

Taking 2 pieces of Whisper White cardstock 6” by 5” and 1 piece of Whisper White cardstock 6” by 3” the ladies die cut the 3 rows of houses using the Big Shot. Each Whisper White panel was place landscape style – with the 6” wide edge at the top, onto the Big Shot cutting platform. The dies were then placed so that the roofs of the houses/church were right at the top of each panel and roughly in the centre from side to side. The dies will not cut right to the edge of the Whisper White panels. When the rows of houses were die cut they were then trimmed free of the cardstock using Scissors.

Punching a hole

www.crafty-rootes.com – Hometown Greetings Edgelits by Stampin’ Up!

The ladies then laid the tallest panel with the smallest houses on top of the dsp panel to work out a rough positioning. When they were happy they punched a hole in the white paper panel using the 1/4″ Hand Held Circle Punch on the left hand side and just below the level of the Whisper White cardstock.

Next they removed the clear protective strip from the LED lights and switched them on to check that they worked. The string of lights was then fed through the punched hole until they reached the thicker piece close to the battery pack. The battery pack was then brought round to the back of the MDF panel where the corner had already been removed. The thick piece of cable was then adhered to the other side of the MDF panel with Tear & Tape; again the backing was left on. The battery pack was then secured to the outside with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Stampin' Up! Hometown Greetings

The white piece of paper with the attached dsp was then glued to the MDF panel hiding the thicker end of the wiring. The tallest layer of die cut Whisper White was then laid on top whilst the ladies worked out the positioning of the lights behind each house and secured the lights in position with Mini Glue Dots. It is easier to do this with the lights switched on and to use all the lights up they needed to place 2 or 3 lights under the church and some of the houses in all the layers. When they were happy with the positioning of the lights the second panel was laid on top to work out the positioning and a hole was then punched below the top of the second panel so that the string of lights would not be seen. The tallest layer was then added over the top of the dsp using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The lights were then placed behind the houses and the church and attached to the first layer with Mini Glue Dots. At the end of this row the smallest layer was laid on top and a hole punched below the top line to allow the remaining lights to be fed through. The second layer was then added with Mini Glue Dots. After the remaining lights were positioned the smallest layer was added on Dimensionals.

Beautiful lit picture

The whole panel was then added to the base frame and the tabs pressed down to secure it in position. The ladies were delighted with their pictures which all looked amazing. Thank you to my lovely upline Mikaela Titheridge for the inspiration.

Magical unicorn card

Magical Days with Rainbows

Magical Mates stamp set and co-ordinating Magical Mates Framelit dies – OMG I think I have died and gone to heaven and the gorgeous little unicorn image just cried out for the addition of a rainbow.

Magical rainbows and unicorns

www.crafty-rootes.com – Magical Mates stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I began by die cutting 3 layers of cloud using the Rainbow Builder Framelits and panels of Whisper White cardstock 4½” by 4”, 4” by 3½” and 4” by 2”.  I stamped the sentiment from the Magical Day stamp set onto the smallest panel in Archival Basic Gray Ink and set it aside to dry.

Rainbows and unicorns

www.crafty-rootes.com – Magical Mates stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

Taking a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock I stamped the cute ‘unicorn’ image in Archival Basic Gray Ink. I coloured the mane and tail of the unicorn using Rich Razzelberry, Daffodil Delight, Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist and Elegant Eggplant Marker Pens. Using the Light Smoky Slate Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Pen I added some shading to the body of the unicorn softening the edges with the Colour Lifter. I added the hooves using the Dark Smoky Slate Pen. After colouring I die cut the unicorn using the co-ordinating Magical Mates dies.

Rainbow unicorn card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Magical Mates stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

Using the Rainbow Builder Framelit dies I die cut each layer of the rainbow from a different colour starting with Daffodil Delight and moving through Real Red, Tangerine Tango, Wild Wasabi, Marina Mist and Elegant Eggplant. I found it easier to adhere the layers of the rainbow to a strip of Whisper White starting with the smallest piece. This also gave the rainbow some stability.

Magical unicorn card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Magical Mates stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

Taking a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” I positioned the rainbow and clouds roughly where I wanted them, trimming them down if I needed too. When I was happy with the placement I started gluing them down beginning with the rainbow which was adhered with Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The tallest layer of cloud was then added with Tombow. The 2nd layer of cloud was added with Stampin’ Dimensionals and the unicorn was glued onto the layer using Tombow. The smallest cloud layer with the stamped sentiment was then added with Tombow.

I glued the whole piece to a Rich Razzelberry card base and finished off by covering the clouds in Clear Wink of Stella. Gorgeous, I love it and I know just who to give this card too.

Soft colours for a birthday card

Perennial Birthday again

The gorgeous Perennial Birthday stamp set was still out on my desk this morning so I used it to make a quick birthday card.

I started with a Perfect Plum card base and stamped randomly all over the front with the largest flower stamp and Perfect Plum ink. Love the subtle tone on tone look of this.

Hand stamped flowery birthday card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Perennial Birthday stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

Next I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set in Perfect Plum ink onto a 3” by 3” piece of Whisper White cardstock and die cut it using my Big Shot and the Layering Circles dies. Whilst I had the Big Shot out I die cut a slightly larger scalloped circle from Pool Party cardstock and set it to one side.

Sweet floral birthday card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Perennial Birthday stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

Using Pool Party, Perfect Plum, Pink Pirouette and Pear Pizzazz – I should have added in Peakaboo Peach and I would have used all the PP’s colours – I stamped a variety of the flowers and leaves from the stamp set around the edge of the Whisper White die cut circle. The stamped circle was then added to the Pool Party scalloped circle using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

Soft colours for a birthday card

I added banners to the card front in Pear Pizzazz (4⅛” by ½”) and Pink Pirouette (4⅛” by ⅜”) and flagged the ends with my scissors. The circle piece was added over the top on Stampin’ Dimensionals. To finish off I painted the centre of all the flowers on the circle and on the card front with Clear Wink of Stella, so pretty.

Hope you like this card.

Bold colours for a musical masculine card

Musical Epic Celebrations

Getting ready for an epic celebration here with the new Sale-a-Bration Epic Celebration stamp set. This is such a great set for teenagers, young men and women and anyone musical. I couldn’t wait to get it out of the case and start stamping.

Quirky card featuring guitars

www.crafty-rootes.com – Epic Celebrations by Stampin’ Up!

My card today is designed with my cousin in mind; he is a guitarist in a local band. I started by taking Emerald Envy, Dapper Denim and Perfect Plum cardstock and cutting one panel of each at 3⅜” by 1⅝” using my Stampin’ Trimmer.

Epic Celebrations for Sale-a-Bration

www.crafty-rootes.com – Epic Celebrations by Stampin’ Up!

I stamped the ‘guitar’ image on each panel using Archival Basic Black ink. I can’t wait for my Stamparatus to arrive in February as I would have liked to re-stamp on the Dapper Denim again as the colour was a little light. I mounted the panels, using Tombow Liquid Adhesive onto a layer of Basic Black cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” starting with the ones on either side, finishing with the middle one. I find this the easiest way to get even spacing between the panels.

Bold colours for a musical masculine card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Epic Celebrations by Stampin’ Up!

I only wanted the word AWESOME so masked off the word ‘you’re using a Post It Note. I inked up the sentiment with Archival Basic Black ink and removed the Post It Note before stamping onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. I trimmed the sentiment down with scissors and added it to the panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The whole piece was then added to the front of a Thick Whisper White card base.

Love that this is such a great masculine card, hope he likes it.

Bubble Over Stampin' Up!

Bubble Over for January Classes

For January’s classes we used the very quirky and versatile Bubble Over stamp set and the co-ordinating Bottles & Bubbles Framelit dies, the ladies loved them. As their table gift I gave each lady as 6” by 6” sample pack of the co-ordinating Bubbles & Fizz Designer Series Paper (dsp) which is available as a free Sale-a-Bration item with a £45 order.

Bubbles and Bottles on a card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Bubble Over stamp set and Bottles & Bubbles dies by Stampin’ Up!

We started the first card by die-cutting a large and small bottle from one of the Bubble & Fizz dsp sheets. I love that the dies can be used to cut out the dsp patterns in this way. We stamped the ‘bubble’ image in Lemon Lime Twist ink randomly across the upper third of a strip of Whisper White cardstock 5⅞” by 2½”. The prototype card in the picture shows the bubbles in Daffodil Delight ink but we decided we preferred the Lemon Lime Twist.  The sentiment – either Love You or Thank You – from the Baby Bear stamp set was then stamped at the bottom of the panel in Bermuda Bay ink. We took a small piece of Lemon Lime Twist striped ribbon, about 4”, and wrapped it around the white panel securing on the back with Sellotape. The ladies then chose a pattern from the dsp and cut 2 strips each 6” by ½”, they then glued the strips on either side of the Whisper White panel. This panel was then adhered to a Thick Whisper White card base using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The die cut bottles were then adhered to the front of the card using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Have a birthday brew card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Bubble Over stamp set and Bottles & Bubbles dies by Stampin’ Up!

For the second card the ladies chose a piece of dsp and using the Stampin’ Trimmer cut it to 5⅜” by 3⅝”. This panel was then added at an angle, or catawampus to a Lemon Lime Twist card base. On a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock the ladies stamped the larger bottle using Archival Basic Gray ink and a Stampin’ Pierce Mat to get a good image. We also stamped the label in Lemon Lime Twist ink and the sentiment was added on top in Archival Basic Gray ink. These pieces were then die cut using the Big Shot and they also die cut one of the cute little bottle caps. The label and bottle cap were glued to the front of the bottle using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. Taking a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” the ladies die cut an oval using the Stitched Shapes Framelit dies. This panel was added to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals and the die cut bottle was added using Stampin’ Dimensionals and Tombow glue.

Bright and colourful bottle tag

www.crafty-rootes.com – Bubble Over stamp set and Bottles & Bubbles dies by Stampin’ Up!

Thirdly we made a bottle tag starting with a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock 8¼” by 2½” which we scored using the Stampin’ Trimmer (love that it cuts and scores) at 5½”. Taking a 1¼” Circle Punch we punched a hole roughly in the centre of the smaller side. At the bottom of the longer side we cut a shallow banner using scissors. The ladies then chose a piece of dsp and cut it to 4½” by 2⅜” and adhered it above the banner point. Bubbles were then stamped in either Lemon Lime Twist ink or Bermuda Bay ink across the top and down one side of a piece of Whisper White cardstock 4¾” by 1½” and this piece was added to the tag on top of the dsp. Taking a scrap Whisper White cardstock the ladies stamped the larger bottle in Archival Basic Gray ink, the label in Calypso Coral ink and the sentiment in Archival Basic Gray. These pieces were then die cut using the Bottles and Bubble Framelit dies along with one of the cute straws.  The labels and straw were then added with Tombow Liquid Adhesive to the die cut bottle and the bottle added with Stampin’ Dimensionals to the bottle tag.

Bubble Over Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Bubble Over stamp set and Bottles & Bubbles dies by Stampin’ Up!

To finish off the projects the ladies added some of the mini sequins taken from the Silver Sequin Trim using the Fine-Tip Liquid Adhesive.

The ladies loved the projects and I want to thank them for all the fun, laughter and chat this week.

Feathery peacock for a thank you card

A simply Beautiful Peacock

OMG I am in love with a Beautiful Peacock. It comes from the aptly named Beautiful Peacock stamp set which is one of the free choices with a £45 order from the new Sale-a-Bration brochure.

I stamped the body of the peacock in Bermuda Bay ink onto a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5” by 3¼”. Using Lemon Lime Twist ink I stamped the image of a ‘spray of feathers/leaves’ twice to form the tail of the bird. I then stamped the ‘flourish’ style image in Bermuda Bay ink to give the effect of a full, luxurious tail.

Thank you card in lovely peacock shades

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beautiful Peacock by Stampin’ Up! for Sale-a-Bration

I stamped the dotty image in Pacific Point ink before randomly stamping the ‘tiny flower’ image in the same Pacific Point ink. The sentiment from the same stamp set was added in Lemon Lime Twist ink. I felt the peacock needed ‘grounding’ and added a swipe of Smoky Slate using the light Stampin’ Blend.

Pretty feminine card using Stampin' Up! product

A floral Perennial Birthday card

I was playing with the Perennial Birthday stamp set today. This set is paired with the lovely new Perennial Birthday Project Kit but it offers so many more opportunities.

I started by stamping the large, bold ‘Happy Birthday’ sentiment onto a 3⅝” by 1” piece of Whisper White cardstock using Momento Tuxedo Black ink.

Soft, subtle colours for a feminine birthday card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Perennial Birthday stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

Taking a 5¼” by 3½” panel of Whisper White cardstock I lightly drew 2 pencil lines across the card front an inch apart. I then randomly stamped the flower and leaf images above and below the pencil lines in Peakaboo Peach, Sweet Sugarplum, Flirty Flamingo & Pear Pizzazz ink. When the ink was dry I rubbed out the pencil lines.

Sweet pastel birthday card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Perennial Birthday stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I took an 8” by 1” strip of Pear Pizzazz cardstock and using the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch punched along the length. I adhered the small scalloped edge to the top of the sentiment strip using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I trimmed off the excess and used it to edge the bottom of the sentiment strip and trimming off the excess with scissors.

The sentiment was then added to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals and added a few Iridescent Sequins.

I love the fresh colours of this card. So very pretty.

Heartfelt Blooms with added colour

Heartfelt Blooms is a fab new stamp set which will be available from tomorrow, free in Sale-a-Bration with £45 order from my online store.

When I took the stamp out of the case I was a bit surprised to see that the face of the rubber stamp had very little texture, I wondered if it was defective. I inked up the image using Smoky Slate ink and stamped it onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock and WOW the image had so much definition, I loved it.

I took the gorgeous new Stampin’ Blends in light & dark Pink Pirouette, light & dark Old Olive, light Daffodil Delight, light Rich Razzelberry & light Calypso Coral and coloured in the flowers and leaves giving the image a really soft look.

To finish off I added some Clear Epoxy Shapes to mimic dewdrops – Gorgeous.

Champagne hearts

Bubble Over for an engagement congratulations card

The Bubble Over stamp set, available from the 3rd January in my online store, makes a lovely understated congratulations card.

I wanted the main element on the front of the card to look like a bottle of Champagne. I tried stamping the ‘largest bottle’ image in Chocolate Chip ink onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock, I liked it but the colour just wasn’t right. For the second attempt I tried Old Olive ink but it was much too light so I stamped the bottle again using Always Artichoke ink which was perfect. I die cut the stamped bottle using the co-ordinating Bottles and Bubbles Framelit dies and my Big Shot. I also die cut one of the label pieces from a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock. I stamped the ‘small heart’ image onto the label in Real Red ink and added it to the front of the die cut bottle using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

Congratulations card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Bubble Over stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I cut a piece of Whisper White cardstock using my Paper Trimmer to 5” by 3½”, placed my die cut bottle roughly in position then stamped the heart image using 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th  generation Real Red ink to look as if the hearts were bubbling out of the bottle. Leaving the bottle roughly in position I inked up the sentiment from the Balloon Celebrations stamp set in Always Artichoke ink and stamped it to the side of the bottle. The bottle was then added to the panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added apiece of the gorgeous ⅛” Real Red Ribbon from the Autumn/Winter catalogue along the bottom of the panel and tied a small bow. I love this ribbon and will really miss it when it retires next week.  To finish the panel off I rounded the upper right corner with my retired Project Life Corner Rounder.

I cut a piece of Real Red cardstock 4⅛” by 3⅝” and added it to the front of a Crumb Cake card base and added the decorated panel using Tombow Liquid Adhesive for both pieces. To add some sparkle I used 3 of the hearts from the Silver Metallic Enamel Shapes.

I plan to give this card to the son of a friend and his new fiancée, hope they like it.
