Healing Hugs stamp set by Stampin' Up! used to make a get well card

Healing Hugs for a get well card

Our latest team challenge asks us to make a get well card ready for this season of coughs and colds and I chose to make this sweet card using the stunning Healing Hugs stamp set. I have had this set for a while and never inked it up and it is stunning.

Making the card

I stamped the large flower image in Merry Merlot ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and cut it out using my sharp scissors. The flower is gorgeous, the petals almost look like velvet; the dimension these distINKtive stamps give is amazing. Using a sponge dauber I inked around the edges of the flower with the Merry Merlot ink.

I cut a panel of Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper (dsp) 5” by 3⅛”. I cut a scalloped border from a ½” strip of Merry Merlot cardstock and the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch. I added the border to the dsp panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I stamped the leaves in Old Olive ink in the bottom right corner of a Thick Whisper White card base before gluing down the dsp panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I added the cut out flower in the lower right hand corner on Stampin’ Dimensionals and stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set in Old Olive ink. To complete the card I added a trio of Share What You Love Artisan Pearls.

I hope you like it.

The Beauty Abounds stamp set by Stampin' Up! used to make monochromatic butterfly card

Monochromatic Beauty Abounds

Today I am sharing the card I made for a team challenge. We were asked to make a simple card using either a stamp set you haven’t used or a colour you don’t use much. I chose to make a monochromatic card using the Beauty Abounds stamp set. I have used this stamp set once before, however the stamps I have used for this card are ones I haven’t previously used.

Making the card

The Beauty Abounds stamp set by Stampin' Up! used to make monochromatic butterfly card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beauty Abounds stamp set used for a monochromatic card

I decided to make a monochromatic card and to keep the supplies used to a minimum in line with Stampin’ Up!’s challenge to make simple cards #SimpleStamping. I chose the Gorgeous Grape ink pad.

The Beauty Abounds stamp set by Stampin' Up! used to make monochromatic butterfly card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beauty Abounds stamp set used for a monochromatic card

I cut a panel of Whisper White cardstock at 5⅜” by 3⅝” and inked up the larger of the 2 bokeh dot stamps with the Gorgeous Grape ink. I stamped the first image in the centre of the card, lifted the stamp, rotated it and stamped again without re-inking. I then rotated the stamp again and stamped without re-inking. In all I stamped 5 times without re-inking allowing the colour to get lighter and lighter eack time.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beauty Abounds stamp set used for a monochromatic card

I inked up one of the butterflies in the Gorgeous Grape ink and stamped it 5 times overlapping the bokeh dots, inking it up each time so the butterflies were nice and dark.

The Beauty Abounds stamp set by Stampin' Up! used to make monochromatic butterfly card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beauty Abounds stamp set used for a monochromatic card

I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set in Gorgeous Grape ink and added the second part of the sentiment to the inside with the smaller bokeh dot image.  I had planned to add the stamped layer directly to the Thick Whisper White card front but had to add a Gorgeous Grape panel (5½” by 3¾”) to hide the fact that I had stamped on the reverse of the Whisper White cardstock and the stamping was showing through.

I really like the way the card turned out. Hope you like it.

A Pop-Up Ferrero Rocher box made using the Santa's Workshop dsp by Stampin' Up!

Pop-Up Ferrero Rocher Treat Box for the Just Add Ink #439 challenge

Today I am sharing the little treat boxes I made to decorate our Christmas table. I saw a video recently by the Paper Pixie where she made this box, click on the link to watch her video.  I have changed the cardstock, dsp and decoration.

To make the box you need;

Cardstock – 6⅝” by 4⅝” – I used either Poppy Parade and Garden Green

Designer Series Paper (DSP)  – 6⅜” by 2⅜ – I used Santa’s Workshop

Making the box base

I used my Paper Trimmer to score the cardstock as some of the measurements were in sixteenths of an inch. Taking a piece of cardstock I scored on the long side at 19/16”, 3⅛”, 4 11/16” and 6¼” and on the short side at 1 9/16” and 3¼”.

A Pop-Up Ferrero Rocher box made using the Santa's Workshop dsp by Stampin' Up!

I folded and burnished all the score lines using my Bone Folder and applied Tear and Tape to the small side tab and to the 4 smaller panels, removed the backing from the Tear and Tape and folded the panels in to re-enforce the box sides.

The Nothing Sweeter stamp set used for a girls birthday card

A Nothing Sweeter Birthday

A couple of month’s ago I made a birthday card for my brother in law using the Nothing Sweeter stamp set , I liked it so much that I have made a girlie version today.

Girlie Nothing Sweeter Birthday Card

I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅛” by 3⅜”. Using the scalloped die from the Sweetly Stitched Framelit dies and my Big Shot, I embossed it 3 times along the bottom of the panel.

The Nothing Sweeter stamp set used for a girls birthday card

ww.crafty-rootes.com – Nothing Sweeter stamp set used for a female birthday card

I rounded the upper left corner using the Detailed Trio Punch and added the panel to a Daffodil Delight layer with a rounded upper left corner, measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝”. I wrapped a piece of ⅛” Lovely Lipstick Grosgrain Ribbon around the panel above the scalloped embossing securing it on the back with Sellotape and added a bow with a Mini Dimensional. The panel was then added to a Lovely Lipstick card base with a rounded upper left corner using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

The Nothing Sweeter stamp set used for a girls birthday card

ww.crafty-rootes.com – Nothing Sweeter stamp set used for a female birthday card

Next I stamped the parcels onto some scrap Whisper White in Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove and Daffodil Delight inks. The outer part of the parcel was stamped in full strength, 1st generation ink. Inside each parcel was stamped in 2nd generation ink, ie stamped off once to give a lighter shade. The stripes were added in the 1st generation ink. The parcels were then die cut using the Sweetly Stitched dies and the Big Shot.

The die cut parcels were then added to the card front, the Grapefruit Grove and Daffodil Delight parcels with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and the Lovely Lipstick parcel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment from the Hand Delivered stamp set was stamped in Daffodil Delight ink onto a ⅜ strip of Whisper White which was trimmed to fit and added with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. To finish I added a scattering of Glitter Enamel Dots for a bit of sparkle.

I love the summery colours of this card, so refreshing after all the Christmas colours.
