We used the beautiful Poinsettia Petals stamp set and Poinsettia dies for October’s classes and made three pretty cards.
To recreate the 3D embossed Poinsettia card, you will need:
Garden Green card base – 8 ¼” by 5⅞” – scored and folded on the long side at 4⅛” – Rounded upper left corner. Real Red – 5½” by 3¾” – Rounded upper left corner. Real Red – 5⅞” by 4⅛” – for die cutting Whisper White – 5¼” by 3½” –Rounded upper left corner – for the outside Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – Rounded upper left corner – for the inside
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk -A pretty Christmas card made using the Poinsettia Petals stamp set and Poinsettia dies
The sentiment from the Peaceful Boughs stamp set was stamped in Garden Green ink onto the smaller Whisper White panel. The panel was then run through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine with the Tasteful Textiles Embossing Folder.
The embossed layer was added to the Real Red panel using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and the strip of Heartwarming Hugs added using the same adhesive. The whole piece was then added to the Garden Green card front using the same glue.
Using the Poinsettia dies, we cut and embossed the 3 layers of petals from the larger panel of Real Red. We used a sponge Dauber and Cherry Cobbler ink to add depth of colour to the edges of each petal. We used Bone Folders to give the petal shape and adhered the 3 layers together with adhesive.
The flower was added to the card front using liquid adhesive. We used a gorgeous Beaded Pearl to the centre of the flower and a scattering of Red Rhinestones to complete the card.
To recreate the Poinsettia Spray card, you will need:
Real Red card base – 8 ¼” by 5⅞” – scored and folded on the long side at 4⅛” – Rounded upper left corner.
Garden Green – 5½” by 3¾” – Rounded upper left corner.
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – Rounded upper left corner – x 2 for the inside and the outside
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk -A pretty Christmas card made using the Poinsettia Petals stamp set
We stamped the full poinsettia flower in Cherry Cobbler ink onto one of the Whisper White panels. Prior to the class I had stamped the same image onto a Post It Note and cut it out to use as a mask.
With the mask in place we stamped the outline leaves in Garden Green ink and added the infill colour in stamped off Garden Green ink. The berry sprig was stamped in Soft Suede ink and infilled with Bumblebee ink before the mask was removed.
The sentiment from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set was added in Garden Green ink.
The poinsettia was coloured using Cherry Cobbler and Real Red Blends Markers and the centre was coloured with Mango Melody Blends.
The stamped panel was glued to the Garden Green layer then added to the Real Red card base on Dimensionals and a trio of Red Rhinestones added to complete the card.
To recreate the Merry Christmas card, you will need:
Thick Whisper White card – 8 ¼” by 5⅞” – scored and folded on the long side at 4⅛” Soft Suede – 5 ½” by 3 ¾” Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” Real Red – 3⅝” by 1⅜” Whisper White – 3⅝” by 1”
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk -A pretty Christmas card made using the Poinsettia Petals stamp set
We used a 1” wide strip of Post It Note and placed it about 1¼” down from the top of the Whisper White panel.
Starting with the largest image we stamped above and below the Post It Note. The leaves and sprigs were added filling in the space above and below the Post It, building up the texture as we went. The colours we used were Real Red, Soft Suede, Bumblebee, Pear Pizzazz, Garden Green and Pool Party. The Post It strip was the removed.
The stamped panel was glued to the Soft Suede layer and then to the Thick Whisper White card base.
The sentiment was stamped in Garden Green ink onto the 1” strip of Whisper White and the panel was mounted on the Real Red layer with glue and then added to the card front on Dimensionals and a trio of Red Rhinestones added to complete the card.
I really hope you like the cards.

Welcome to this months Joy of Sets Blog Hop where our theme is ‘Harvest Time’. If you have hopped on from Fiona Whitehead’s blog – welcome. I have used the sweet Turnovers Stamp set to create a sweet Autumnal pumpkin themed thank you card. This is a reversible set where you use both sides of the same – the front is the outline and the back is the filler.
To recreate the Autumnal Pumpkin card you will need:
Soft Sea Foam card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – Rounded upper left corner Pumpkin Pie – 3 ¾” by 2 ¾” – Rounded upper left corner Whisper White – 3 ½” by 2 ½” – Rounded upper left corner Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – Rounded upper left corner – for the inside
I began by randomly stamping both outline pumpkins onto the smaller Whisper White panels, one in Terracotta Tile and the other in Cajun Craze ink. I used a Garden Green Marker to ink up the pumpkin stem.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk -A pretty Autumnal card featuring the pumpkins from the Turnover stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
I decided to colour the pumpkins in using Blends Markers – Pumpkin Pie, Mango Melody and Old Olive. The background was filled in using the Soft Sea Foam Blends combo Markers.

Welcome to the Ink. Stamp. Share Blog Hop. My name is Mo Rootes and I live near Cambridge in the UK and I am thrilled to be joining the super talented team on this blog hop. Our theme today is ‘Showcasing a project we have been working on’. I have chosen to share a piece of home décor with you; a picture of a snowy mountain scene. I hope you like it.
To recreate the Snowy Mountain picture you will need:
Whisper White card – 8” by 6”
Misty Moonlight card – 8* by 6”
Picture frame for a 7” by 5” photograph
If you have been following my blog you will know that the Mountain Air stamp set is a real favourite of mine and today I have combined it with the In The Pines Stamp set and the sweet cabin from the Snow Front stamp set to create this wintery scene.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Mountain Air stamp set used to make pretty picture featuring a snowy mountain scene
I began with the piece of Whisper White card which I lined up on my Grid Paper. With a T Square Ruler and a pencil I marked out ½” on all 4 sides to form a border. This border will be covered by the mount.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Mountain Air stamp set used to make pretty picture featuring a snowy mountain scene
I inked up the detailed mountain image from the Mountain Air stamp set with Seaside Spray ink and stamped the image across the panel. I reversed the stamp, inked up the back with the same colour, stamped off on my Grid Paper and stamped the 2nd generation, offset, over the mountains.
The row of trees were stamped below the mountains in Shaded Spruce ink. I punched a 1” circle from a Post It note and applied it over the mountains. Using a blending brush – you could also use a sponge or a sponge dauber instead – and circular movements I appled Balmy Blue ink across the top of the panel to give the effect of a sky. The circle mask was then removed.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Mountain Air stamp set used to make pretty picture featuring a snowy mountain scene
I roughly tore a piece to copy paper to give a wavy edge. Using the blending brush and Pool Party ink I moved around the torn copy paper to give the effect of snow banks.
Placing the copy paper back in position I stamped the sweet cabin from the Snow Front stamp set in Basic Gray ink. I added the ‘path’ image in 2nd generation Basic Gray ink.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Mountain Air stamp set used to make pretty picture featuring a snowy mountain scene
I added the row of trees from the In the Pines stamp set in the same way using Early Espresso ink. I added the in-fill stamp in Shaded Spruce ink. The large tree on the left was stamped in Early Espresso and Shaded Spruce.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Mountain Air stamp set used to make pretty picture featuring a snowy mountain scene
Using my Paper Trimmer I cut out the middle of the Misty Moonlight panel leaving a 3/4£” border all the way around. This will be the mount for the picture.
I used a simple white photo frame to show off this simple picture.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Mountain Air stamp set used to make pretty picture featuring a snowy mountain scene
I am really happy with how it has turned out. Let me know what you think.
