High Tide for a monochromatic birthday card

Yesterday was my husbands’ birthday and today I am sharing the card I made for him. He really likes clean and simple cards, so with this in mind I hit Pinterest and did a little searching. I wanted an outdoor, wildlife theme for the card and found a link to a video by a lady called Esther of Stampin Star Creations – https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qqKkyG59UeE – . She used the High Tide stamp set to make a beautiful, understated card which was just what I was looking for.

I took a panel of Whisper White cardstock and die cut a circle from the upper half of the panel using the Layering Circle Dies and the Big Shot. I left the die cut circle in-situ and stamped the ‘sandy bank’ image in Basic Gray ink overlapping both the circle and the layer from which the circle was cut. I added some texture by stamping over the sandy bank with the smaller sand image in the Basic Gray ink which also covered the indent where the lighthouse stamp fits.

I lifted out the die cut circle and, using a Sponge Dauber, inked around the edges in Basic Gray bringing the colour around the top of the circle to give the look of a cloudy sky. Using the Basic Gray ink, I inked up and stamped off the ‘sea’ image before stamping it onto the circle above the ‘sandy bank’. The grasses were also stamped in Basic Gray onto the ‘sandy bank’. Next I added the birds using the Basic Black Ink to give them more depth…….I think they look amazing. I added the ‘birds in flight’ image to the top of the Whisper White panel creating the frame frame. At  this point I notice a small smudge above the birds and to disguise it I cleaned my ‘birds in flight’ image really well using my Stampin Scrub and Stampin Mist, inked up the last, smallest bird in flight and added it over the smudge, it looked fantastic though I say so myself……… I added the sentiment from the Balloon Adventures stamp set to the lower left corner using the Basic Gray ink pad.

I adhered the Whisper White panel to a layer of Basic Black cardstock and then to a  Thick Whisper White card base using Tombow Liquid Adhesive and added the stamped circle using Stampin Dimensionals.

I am really happy with the card and my husband loved it, I hope you do too. Thanks you for visiting my blog today, come back soon.
