www.crafty-rootes.com – Stampin’ Up! – Tasty Trucks stamp setI stamped the really cute little truck from the Tasty Truck stamp set using Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock. I planned to use the new Stampin’ Up! Water Color Pencils to colour in the truck and find that the Momento ink stands up well to the Blender Pen. I used the Bermuda Bay and Daffodil Delight pencils to colour the main body of the truck. The wheels were coloured using the Basic Black pencil and the Basic Grey pencil for the hub caps. I coloured the lights using the Pumpkin Pie pencil and the stripes in the awning are coloured using the Real Red pencil. The ground was added with the Early Espresso pencil.

I love the versatility of these watercolour pencils. The harder you press the dark the finished effect will be. This means that you can get many tones of colour using each pencil. I used the Blender pen on this occasion as the image is quite small and I wanted more control than I would get using an Aquapainter or brush.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Tasty Trucks by Stampin’ Up!

I rounded the upper right corner with the Project Life Corner Rounder and mounted the coloured piece onto a panel of Bermuda Bay cardstock with a similarly rounded top right corner. I then took a strip of Bermuda Bay cardstock and ran it through the Big Shot using the new Hexagons Dynamic Textured Impressions Folder from Stampin’ Up! which is available in the in the new Spring/Summer catalogue.

I used a card base of Thick Whisper White cardstock adding some So Saffron stars using the Hearts and Stars decorative masks and a Sponge Dauber to provide some interest. The embossed strip of Bermuda Bay was added to the card front with Tombow Liquid Adhesive and the stamped panel added using Dimensionals.

I have a feeling that this little truck is going to prove very popular over the next few months. Thank you for visiting my blog today. Hope to see you again soon.

Avant Garden by Stampin’ Up! form Sale-A-Bration 2017 by Mo Rootes at www.crafty-rootes.com

I stamped the bold flower in 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation Elegant Eggplant ink in a rough semi-circle then filled in the blank spaces with 1st and 2nd generation Pool Party ink.

The sentiment from the same set was stamped in Pool Party ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and die cut using the Stitched Frames Dies. I added a 2nd generation Elegant Eggplant stamp image to the base of the sentiment. I die cut a scalloped circle from the Layering Circles dies a tiny bit bigger to mount the sentiment onto.

I wrapped a piece of Linen Thread around the stamped panel and tied a small bow. The panel was then added to a layer of Elegant Eggplant cardstock using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The sentiment was mounted over the thread using Dimensionals. The entire topper was then added to a Pool Party card base using Dimensionals.

Beautiful You – Gorgeous

OMG I love the new Beautiful You stamp set, it is absolutely gorgeous, I can see I am going to be using it a lot over the next few months.

I used the set to make a card for this month’s team challenge. I stamped one of the images from the stamp set using Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto Very Vanilla cardstock and coloured it using the fab new Rich Razzleberry and Early Espresso Watercolour Pencils and the a Blender Pen. I rounded the top right and bottom left corners and mounted it on a piece of Chocolate Chip cardstock with similarly rounded corners. I added a piece from one the new Lace Doilies to the back, I love that they are Whisper White on one side and Very Vanilla on the other.

I took a piece of Falling In Love dsp, rounded the same top and bottom corners and mounted it onto a panel of Very Vanilla using Tombow Mono Liquid Adhesive after wrapping a piece of ¼”Natural Trim, the Silver version from the top to the bottom. This whole piece was added to a Crumb Cake card base with Tombow. I added the stamped topper over the ribbon with Dimentionals and added a bow.

I love this card, it is so beautiful and I am so happy with it. I hope you like it.

Thank you for stopping by my blog and I hope to see you again soon.

Lift Me Up – New Goodies

I have been having such fun today playing with the new Lift Me Up stamp set. This set will be available in the Spring/Summer catalogue which launches on the 4th January 2017. One of the perks of being a demonstrator is that we get to order from new catalogues a month before they go live……and who doesn’t love new goodies.

I kept these first 2 cards very simple but I think they are really effective.

I stamped the smaller balloon from the Lift Me Up stamp set onto a panel of Whisper White cardstock. The image was stamped in rows to give a rainbow effect. The colours I used were Melon Mambo, Calypso Coral, Crushed Curry, Garden Green and Perfect Plum. The sentiment from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set was stamped in Melon Mambo ink onto a scrap of Whisper White and punched out using the Classic Label Punch. I punched 2 classic labels from Basic Black cardstock and added these to the back of the punched sentiment and adhered the piece to the stamped panel using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

The whole panel was added to a layer of basic Black cardstock with Tombow then added  to a Thick Whisper White card base using Dimensionals.

The second card is a pared back version of the first. I stamped the balloons onto a panel of Very Vanilla cardstock using first, second, third, fourth and fifth generation Watermelon Wonder ink……..and I could have got a couple more layers if I had had a large enough piece of paper cardstock. The stamped panel was then adhered to a panel of Early Espresso cardstock.

The sentiment from the Crazy About You stamp set was stamped in Chocolate Chip ink onto a scrap of Very Vanilla and backed onto Early Espresso cardstock before being adhered onto a Crumb Cake cardstock card base using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

I really like both of these cards and let’s face it, you can never have too many thank you cards. Thank you so much for visiting my blog, hope you like the project. See you again soon.

Vintage Leaves – Watercoloured

The card I am sharing today was inspired by Dena Rekow of The Creativity Cave. She does the most amazing projects and I adored this one. I stripped it back to basics for my version.

I stamped the small leaf for the Vintage Leaves stamp set in Cherry Cobbler, Delightful Dijon, Rich Razzleberry and Garden Green ink onto Stampin’ Up! Watercolour cardstock. I loved this colour combination. As soon as I stamped each colour I went over the image with an Aquapainter filled with a little water. This blurred and intensified the colour of each leaf, gorgeous….

I die cut each of the leaves with the co-ordinating Leaflet Framelit dies. The sentiment, from the Rose Wonder stamp set was stamped in Delightful Dijon ink onto a card base of Thick Whisper White cardstock. I spaced the leaves evenly across the card front, adhering the Cherry Cobbler, Rich Razzleberry and Garden Green ones with Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The Delightful Dijon leaf was added with Dimensionals to give a bit of lift.

Cookie Cutter Baby

I have another Cookie Cutter Christmas card for you today……………. but it’s not a card for Christmas. A friend asked if I would make a new baby card for her niece who is due to have a baby boy any day now and this is what I came up with.

I started with a Whisper White panel which I stamped using the textured background stamp from the You’ve Got This stamp set in Crumb Cake ink. This is such a useful stamp for adding the illusion of dimension without any of the bulk. I stamped the little Inuit baby from the Cookie Cutter Christmas Stamp set using Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto a scrap piece of Whisper White and coloured it with Pool Party, Soft Sky and Crumb Cake markers before punching it out with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch. The Sentiment from the Baby Bear stamp set was stamped in Pool Party ink as were the scattering of stars from the Forever Evergreen stamp set. I rounded the top right hand corner with the Project Life Corner Rounder before adding the panel to a layer of Pool Party cardstock with the same rounded corner. The whole piece was then added to a Crumb Cake card base. Gorgeous and luckily my friend loved it……..

While I had the set out I also made a baby girl version to add to my stash.

I stamped the little Inuit again using Momento Tuxedo Black ink and coloured her with Pink Pirouette, Flirty Flamingo and Smoky Slate markers before punching her out with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch. I painted a light wash on the Whisper White background panel using a Smoky Slate inkpad and an aquapainter. This adds additional texture to the background. I placed the punched piece on top using dimensionals and stamped some stars from the Forever Evergreen stamp set in Pink Pirouette Ink. I wrapped some pink and white Baker’s Twine from my stash near the bottom of the panel before stamping the sentiment from the Baby Bear stamp set in Pink Pirouette ink. I layered this piece onto a panel of Smoky Slate cardstock rounding all 4 corners of both layers with the Project Life Corner Rounder. I added the panel to a Pink Pirouette card base. Such a sweet card.

Thank you so much for visiting my blog, hope you like the projects. See you again soon.

Cookie Cutter Gingerbread Family

I have been making some Christmas cards recently and I thought I would share a couple of them with you today. I used the, oh so popular, Cookie Cutter Christmas and the gorgeous gingerbread man.

1-dscf8268

I stamped 3 gingerbread men in Early Espresso ink onto Crumb Cake cardstock and punched them out with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch. I dressed them up with bows in Real Red and So Saffron and a bow-tie in Soft Sky ink stamped onto Soft Sky cardstock and added them to a Whisper White layer with Dimensionals. I added the tiny snowflake from the Star of Light stamp set. The sentiment, from the Stitched With Cheer stamp set was stamped in Early Espresso and die cut with the Big Shot using the Bunch of Banners framelit dies. The upper right corner of the Whisper White piece was rounded using a We R Memory Keepers ½” corner rounder and added to a panel of Soft Sky cardstock, which also had a rounded corner. The whole piece was added to Thick Whisper White card base, yes I also rounded the top right corner and to finished I added a Basic Rhinestone to each of the little girl’s hair bows. Such a charming card.

1-dscf8272For the second card I stamped the gingerbread people in Early Espresso onto Whisper White cardstock and punched them out with the Cookie Cutter Builder Punch. I stamped the large splatter stamp from the Gorgeous Grunge stamp set in Pool Party ink onto a panel of Whisper White, I think it looks a little like a map….. and added the gingerbread people either side.  I mounted the piece onto a panel of Pool Party cardstock and added it using Tombow to a Thick Whisper White card base. I rounded the upper right and lower left corners of all the pieces using the Project Life Corner Rounder. As a final touch I added a Red Glimmer paper bow and buttons for the bit of sparkle. The sentiment comes from the retired set Festival of Trees and was stamped in Pool Party ink. Love it

Star of Light – a happy accident

I just love this card, so happy with the way it turned out and to think it started off as a DVD wrapper that I accidentally scored in the wrong places………aaarrgh don’t you just hate when that happens!!! I was loath to throw the stamped piece away and started to cut it down, and it turned into this fab card.

1-dscf8456I saved two 4” by 4” panels which were stamped in Pool Party and Archival Basic Black ink on Whisper White cardstock using the Star of Light stamp set. I mounted one of the panels onto a layer of Basic Black cardstock then layered this piece onto a panel of Whisper White. The second stamped panel I cut into two 1 ¾ “pieces and added them onto the same black and white layers.

1-dscf8462

Using the Big Shot and the Starlight Framelit dies,  I die cut the detailed star 3 times from Whisper White cardstock and layered them, one on top of the other using Tombow to give some dimension. I added the smaller detailed star cut from Black Glimmer paper and topped the star with a White Perfect Accent coloured with a mint green promarker pen. The star was added to the square stamped panel with a dimensional.

1-dscf8458I added the panels to a 5½” by 5½” Whisper White card base folded as a modified ‘Z’ fold card. The backing dsp is from a retired pack called Perfectly Artistic. The sentiment was added in Archival Basic Black.

I made an envelope using the Perfectly Artistic dsp, the Envelope Punch Board and the super strong Tear and Tape.

This card is designed for my lovely Mum. Hope she likes it. Thanks so much for visiting my blog. Come back soon

Star of Light Christmas Class

The November classes featured the gorgeous Star of Wonder stamp set and co-ordinating Starlight Thinlit Dies and non-traditional Christmas colours. I don’t know about you but I get a bit tired of red and green after a while and fancied something a little more modern and decided that Elegant Eggplant, Pool Party, Whisper White and Copper Foil would look amazing.

1-dscf8405The first card involved die cutting the solid star shape from a panel of Whisper White cardstock. This panel was then adhered to the Pool Party cardstock layer which was then added to an Elegant Eggplant card base. We then inset the detailed star die cut from Copper Foil and looking sensational especially when we added a large Basic Rhinestone to the centre. We added a sentiment from the same stamp set using Elegant Eggplant ink and called the card finished.

1-dscf8406For the second card we stamped the fantastic ‘swoosh’ stamp along with the smaller single star onto the Whisper White panel using Versamark Ink covered it with Copper Embossing Powder  then melted it using the Heat Tool and yes I did use the Embossing Buddy before stamping…… go me!  We then added random stars using Pool Party ink. The whole piece was added to a layer of Copper Foil with Tombow glue. This panel was then added to a Pool Party card base. We die cut the solid star from Elegant Eggplant cardstock and topped it with one of the smaller die-cut detailed Copper stars and added a Rhinestone to the centre before adhering it to the front of the card.

Top Tip – we die cut the detailed stars for all three projects from this layer, no one will know once the stamped panel is adhered over the top and it makes the best use of expensive, speciality cardstock.

1-dscf8407The DVD holder was based on a YouTube video by Tracey May – Bedlam and Butterflies –  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWzqbertbQs

We covered a 10¾” square of Whisper White cardstock in randomly stamped  ‘swoosh’s’ in Pool Party ink and the tiny trio of stars in Elegant Eggplant ink. The belly band was made using Elegant Eggplant cardstock with strip of Pool Party Stitched Satin Ribbon along the centre. I took the solid Whisper White star, saved from the first card and added a large detailed star cut from the Pool Party cardstock and topped it with a Copper Foil star and added the whole star to a label die cut from the Lots of Labels Framelit dies and used this to close the belly band as the sides don’t quite meet.

Thank you so much for stopping by my blog today. Hope you like the projects I shared and that you will drop by again soon
