Cards using Stampin' Up product

Petal Passion Stamp-a-Stack

Saturday saw some of my lovely ladies gathering for another Stamp-a-Stack. This time their pack included the gorgeous black and white Petal Passion Designer Series Paper and a pack of Black Rhinestones. The black and white paper is so versatile: you can colour it with Marker Pens or the new Stampin’ Blends. You can stamp on it or add colour with sponges, daubers or Sponge Brayers.

Roses for the Happiest of Days

I had the Happiest of Days stamp set out on my desk again today. I wanted to make a very simple card with a clever twist.

I started by taking a Stitched Shape Circle Die and a slightly larger Layering Circle die. I laid them together, one inside the other onto a layer of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” and lightly drew around both the inner circle and outer circles with a soft pencil before moving the dies to the side.

I inked up the flower stamp using Momento Tuxedo Black and stamped it a number of times around the circle, rotating the stamp to vary the image and making sure that the flower covered the both the inner and outer pencil lines.

I used markers to colour in the flowers and began by laying down a layer of Powder Pink. When this layer was dry I added highlights using a Blushing Bride Marker and went back over each flower with the Powder Pink to blend the colours. I coloured the leaves in the same way using Pear Pizzazz and Old Olive marker pens.

Then the fun began. I rubbed out all the pencil marks, lined both the circle framelits up over the stamped flowers and cut them out using the Big Shot. I added the stamped and die cut panel to the Thick Whisper White card base using Tombow Liquid Adhesives. The inner circle was inlaid into the centre of the die cut hole using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I stamped the sentiment from the Thankful Thoughts stamp set in Old Olive ink onto the centre circle.

I ran both of the nested dies through the Big Shot in the same way as before but this time I used fun foam. I used the thin circular frame of foam to raise the thin rim piece onto the stamped panel adhering the 2 together with Tombow Liquid Adhesive. Interestingly the fun foam was distorted after running through the Big Shot and I had to cut out a small piece in order to make it fit.

I love the look of the finished card and would like to try it out in other colours. What colours would you choose?

Happiest of Days – Team Training

Today I am sharing one of the cards which my team will be making at our Team Training session today. It was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest designed by one of my German demonstrator colleagues Cornelia Janssen. I loved the simplicity of her card. I have to admit I completely missed the Happiest of Days stamp set when I looked through the catalogue; luckily one of my lovely ladies (thank you Ola) ordered it……..as soon as I saw it I knew I had to have it. I love the unfussy images which are great for colouring.

For my version I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” and stamped randomly all over it using the cake image and Momento Tuxedo Black ink. Using my Lemon Lime Twist and Bermuda Bay ink pads and a Blender Pen I coloured in part of each cake, concentrating the colour on the right hand side of each image. I love these 2 colours together; they look so fresh and summery.

I mounted the whole stamped panel onto a layer of Lemon Lime Twist cardstock 5½” by 3¾” using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I liked the look but felt the panel still needed something extra. So, I took a scrap of Night of Navy cardstock approx. 6” by ¾”and punched it using the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch. I added it to the left side of the panel with the small scallop edge showing and trimmed off the excess with my Scissors. I really felt the Night of Navy grounded the panel. I love that we have a couple of new border punches in the new catalogue.

Carrying on with the Night of Navy I took another scrap of cardstock, wiped it over with my Embossing Buddy before stamping the sentiment using Versamark ink. I covered the ink with White Embossing Powder and melted it using the Heat Tool. I trimmed the piece down and flagged the end using the Banner Triple Punch before adding the piece to the front of the stamped panel.

The whole piece was then added to a Thick Whisper White card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I love it, love the simplicity, the colours and summery feel of this card. Hope you like it.
