Pop of Petals by Stampin' Up! for a sweet card

Pop of Petals makes for a very sweet card

Today I have been using the lovely new Pop of Petals stamp set and co-ordinating Four-Petal Punch to make a sweet card.

Pop of Petals

I began by taking a panel of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝”. Using a ruler and pencil I drew 2 parallel lines an inch apart towards the top of the panel.

Starting with the largest image I then stamped and flowers and leaves overlapping the pencil lines. I used Night of Navy ink for the largest flowers then Coastal Cabana, Grapefruit Grove and So Saffron ink for the smaller flowers. The smaller flowers come as one stamp which I cut apart using sharp Paper Snips, this gives much more flexibility and they fit together again really easily if you want to stamp them together. The leaves were stamped in Soft Sea Foam ink.

After stamping I rubbed out the pencil lines before adding the stamped panel to a layer of Night of Navy cardstock measuring 5½” by 3⅞”. This was then added to a Coastal Cabana card base with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. On a piece of Whisper White I stamped the sentiment from the Hanging  Garden stamp set in Night of Navy ink and added it on Stampin’ Dimensionals over the place where the pencil lines had been.

On a scrap of Whisper White cardstock I stamped one of the large flowers and punched it out using the Four-Petal Flower punch and added it on a Stampin’ Dimensional to the left of the sentiment panel. To complete the card I added some Glitter Enamel Dots using my Paper Piercer.

Double Z Fold card

A Special Double Z Fold Card

Today I am sharing a card I made for the 60th birthday of one of my oldest and dearest friends. 4 of us started our nurse training over 40 years ago and have remained firm friends ever since. I seem to gravitate to these double z fold cards for all my special birthdays at the moment but I do love them.

Making a Double Z Fold card

I started with a panel of Thick Whisper White 11” by 5½” and scored it at 2¾” and 5½” on the long side. I then cut another piece of Thick Whisper White 9¼” by 4¼” and scored it at 2¾” and 5½” on the long side.

Double Z Fold card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Double Z Fold card using Stampin Up products

I chose a pattern from the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper stack (dsp) and cut a piece at 5¼” by 5¼” and a piece at 5¼” by 2½”. I adhered the dsp to the 11” by 5½” scored panel of Thick Whisper White, the larger panel on what will become the back of the card and the smaller panel to the front of the card using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. On this occasion I left the middle panel undecorated.

Double Z Fold card

I cut 3 panels of Old Olive cardstock; 1 panel at 4” by 4” and 2 panels at 4” by 2½” and adhered them to the smaller scored Thick Whisper White panel. I then cut 3 panels of Whisper White; 1 panel at 3¾” by 3¾” and 2 panels at 3¾” by 2¼”.  I stamped the gorgeous roses from the Petal Palette stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink along the bottom of the larger Whisper White panel and in the upper right corner of the same panel. I then stamped the roses on either the upper right or lower left of the other two panels and coloured them in using the following Stampin’ Blends – Dark Pink Pirouette (retired), Light Lovely Lipstick, Light & Dark Old Olive. I rounded the corners of the layers using the Detailed Trio Punch.

I stamped the ‘Happy’, ‘Birthday’ and ‘th’ in Momento Tuxedo Black ink on the front and second panels. These words came from the, sadly now retired, Number of Years stamp set.  I die cut the 2 number using the also retired Large Number Framelits from Old Olive cardstock. I cut 3 of each and layered them one on top of the other to give added dimension. The numbers were then added to the front panel with Tombow.

The 2 Thick Whisper White pieces were then carefully glued together. To finish the card I made an envelope using my Envelope Punch Board.

Love the colours of this card and I really hope my friend loves it and forgives me for the large ‘60’ on the front!!

Springtime Impressions thinlits coloured with inks and used as a stencil

Springtime Impressions Thinlits used 2 ways

I’ve been having such fun today playing with the gorgeous Springtime Impressions Thinlit dies and lots of lovely Spring/Summer colours. This fab die set is available as a bundle with the Abstract Impressions stamp set at a 10% discount in my online shop. For the cards today I have only used the Springtime Impressions Thinlit Dies.

Card 1

I began by taking the large, detailed floral corner die and running it through my Big Shot. I used Whisper White cardstock and following Stampin’ Up’s! latest advice I ran it through the Big Shot with the cutting side facing up and It cut like a dream and was so much easier to get out of the die.

I then took a panel of Whisper White 5⅜” by 3⅝” and laid the intricate die cut on top and slightly overlapping the bottom left corner. I then opened up my Berry Burst, Flirty Flamingo, Powder Pink, Highland Heather, So Saffron and Granny Apple Green ink pads and using a Sponge Dauber for each colour I coloured in the flowers and leaves making sure to tap the ink on and not to rub at all. I held the die cut firmly in place with a finger as I didn’t want it to move.  When I lifted the die cut piece away it revealed a gorgeous stencilled image. I just love these colours together. I then rounded the upper right corner with the Detailed Trio Punch.

I added a strip of Flirty Flamingo ruched ribbon which has retired and adhered it to the back using Sellotape. The sentiment comes from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set and was stamped on scrap Whisper White cardstock in Granny Apple Green ink and I die cut using  one of the sweet labels from the Lakeside Framelits. I die cut one end then the other to give a shorter banner. I repeated this technique with a scrap of Granny Apple Green cardstock and adhered the 2 together with Tombow Liquid Adhesive and adhered over the ribbon with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

This panel was then added to a layer of Granny Apple Green cardstock 5½” by 3¾” after rounding the upper right corner and added to a Thick Whisper White card base with Tombow having again rounded the upper right corner.

Card 2

For the second card I took the coloured in die cut and added it to a Whisper White panel 5⅜” by 3⅝” using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. As the die cut is so detailed I like to add the glue to the back with a small piece Stampin’ Sponge. I add a blob of glue to my Silicon Craft Sheet and pick it up with the sponge then dab the glue all over.

I stamped the same sentiment in Flirty Flamingo ink and rounded the lower right corner with the Detailed Trio Punch. I added this layer to a panel of Flirty Flamingo cardstock 5½” by 3¾” with a rounded lower right corner using Tombow. The whole panel was then added to a So Saffron card base, also with rounded lower right corners, using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I love these pretty feminine cards, hope you like them.

Love What You Do by Stampin' Up!

Love What You Do

Today I used the Love What You Do stamp set to make a sweet and simple thank you card.

I started with a panel of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4” by 2¾” and stamped 3 of the flower images in Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I deliberately tried to space them as evenly as possible across the panel. Using my Light & Dark Daffodil Delight Stampin’ Blends Pens I coloured in the flowers. I rounded the upper left and lower right corners of the panel with the Detailed Trio Punch.

I rounded the same corners of a piece of Basic Black cardstock measuring 4¼” by 3” and adhered the stamped panel to this panel using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

Love What You Do by Stampin' Up! for a thank you card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Love What You Do by Stampin’ Up! for a thank you card

I chose to use a Daffodil Delight card base and stamped some of the tiny flowers in the upper left and lower right corner in Daffodil Delight ink to give a subtle tone on tone effect. The stamped panel was added on Stampin’ Dimensionals to the centre of the card front.

I stamped the sentiment from the new Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and trimmed it out using my Paper Trimmer. I added the banner end with scissors (Paper Snips). I added a layer of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” to the inside of the card and stamped and coloured the same flower before sticking it down.

I love this cheerful sunny card. I hope you like it.
