Poppies In Memorium – Stampin’ Dreams Blog Hop

May be an image of one or more people and text

Hello and welcome to the Stampin’ Dreams – In Memorium Blog Hop where we are sharing Sympathy cards. Coming up to Remembrance Sunday the Painted Poppies stamp set seemed the most appropriate stamp set to use to make my Poppies In Memorium card today.

Colours used in this project are:

To recreate the Poppies In Memorium card, you will need:

Basic Black card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper left corner
Poppy Parade card – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper left corner
Basic White card – 5¼” by 3½” – rounded upper left corner
Basic White card – 5 ½” by 3 ¾” – rounded upper left corner for the inside

I stamped the sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink on the lower right corner of the smaller panel of Basic White card. I actually masked off part of the sentiment with Post It Notes before inking up and stamping.

Using the same black ink, I stamped the group of poppies three times across the panel.

The flowers were then coloured in using the Poppy Parade Blends Combo Markers.

I added a strip of the gorgeous Glittered Organdy Ribbon to the card and secured it on the back of the panel with Sellotape. The whole panel was then added using Multipurpose Adhesive to the Poppy Parade panel.

Graceful Glass dsp by Stampin' Up! used for a sympathy card

Graceful Glass Sympathy card

Today I have made a sweet sympathy card using the Graceful Glass Vellum Designer Series Paper. This dsp is absolutely gorgeous and needs very little doing to it to make a stunning card.

Making the Graceful Glass card

I started by choosing the panel of dsp I wanted, I loved this square, scrolly one. I trimmed the panel down, turned it over to the reverse side and coloured it in using the Tranquil Tide, Lemon Lime Twist, Berry Burst and Fresh Fig Stampin Write Markers.  It looks so pretty…..

Graceful Glass dsp by Stampin' Up! used for a sympathy card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Graceful Glass for a sympathy card

I cut a panel of Whisper White cardstock exactly the same size as the vellum dsp panel, 3” by 3”. I squeezed some Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive onto my Silicon Mat and using a wedge of sponge I applied the glue, thinly all over the Whisper White panel and added the coloured vellum panel.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Graceful Glass for a sympathy card

I cut a border strip from another of the dsp sheets. I added the coloured vellum panel to the front of a Thick Whisper White card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals and tucked the border piece in behind using a little Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive where it would be hidden.

The sentiment from the Painted Glass stamp set was stamped in below the coloured panel in Tranquil Tide ink. I love the font in this stamp set.

This is such a striking card. I hope you like it.
