Sweet card made for the Global Design #172 challenge to CASE a card

Needle & Thread for GDP #172 Challenge

Today I am sharing a card made for the Global Design Project – GDP #172 Challenge which this week is CASE’ing this gorgeous card designed by Shawn De Oliveira.

Making the card

I really liked the simplicity of the card and started by taking a panel of Whisper White 5⅜” by 3⅝” and embossed the left hand side using my Big Shot and one of the lovely Petal Pairs embossing folders. I wanted to keep the effect of the leaves from Shawn’s card.

Using the Needlepoint Elements Framelit dies and my Big Shot, I die cut the long label in Soft Sea Foam and stamped the sentiment from the Well Said stamp set in Granny Apple Green ink and added the piece to the embossed panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I stamped the double leaf image in Granny Apple Green ink and the large flower in Gorgeous Grape ink and die cut both images using the same set of dies. The flower was added to the leaf image with the same liquid adhesive then the whole piece was adhered to the embossed panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals

I stamped the trio of small flowers in Mango Melody ink and die cut them. I also die cut some of the filigree leaves from the same die set from scrap Granny Apple Green cardstock. I tucked the small flowers and leaves around the main image using either liquid adhesive or dimensionals

The whole piece was then adhered to a panel of Mango Melody cardstock measuring 5½” by 3¾”with liquid glue and then the piece was added to a Gorgeous Grape card base with the same adhesive. To finish I added a scattering of Glitter Enamel Dots. Oh I also rounded the upper right corner of all the panels……..love a rounded corner.

I am really happy with the card and love the colour combination. I hope you like it.

Abstract Impressions stamp set used for the Global Design Project #170 sketch challenge

Global Design Project #170 Abstract Impressions

Today I am sharing a card made using the Abstract Impressions stamp set for the Global Design Project #170 sketch challenge.

Making the card

I started by cutting a small panel of Whisper White cardstock at 3¾” by 2¾”. I stamped the broader leaf cluster in 2nd generation Granny Apple Green ink – inked up, stamped onto scrap paper then stamped on the Whisper White cardstock piece. I then stamped the narrower leaf cluster in full strength Granny Apple Green ink. The base flowers were stamped in 2ng generation Grapefruit Grove ink and the highlights stamped over the top in full strength Grapefruit Grove ink. The stamped panel was then added to a Granny Apple Green panel measuring 3⅞” by 2⅞”, having rounded the upper left corner of both panels using the Detailed Trio Punch.

I stamped the sentiment from the Abstract Impressions stamp set in Granny Apple Green ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4” by ½” and used my scissors to cut both ends into a banner shape. Using the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch I punch a scalloped edge from a piece of Wood Textures dsp and added it to the back of the sentiment using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. This piece was then added to the stamped panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Floral Frames stamp set by Stampin' Up! used for the Global Design Project #169

Floral Frames used for the Global Design Project #169 challenge

Today I am sharing a sweet card made using the Floral Frames stamp set for the Global Design Project #169 colour challenge. We were asked to use Granny Apple Green, Poppy Parade and Pool Party to make our project, a gorgeous colour combo. I have had this stamp set for a while and not used it but I certainly will use it more as it is stunning.

Update – this card has been chosen as one of the winners of the GDP challenge.

Making the card

I began with a panel of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5¼” by 3½”. I inked up the large floral image with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped it onto the Whisper White panel. I stamped the double and triple flower images at the same time using the same ink and some scrap Whisper White cardstock. I die cut both of the flower images using my Big Shot and the Foliage Frames dies.

Using the Poppy Parade combo, the Pool Party combo and the Granny Apple Green combo Blends pens I coloured in the large stamped image and both of the small floral images. I stamped the sentiment in Pool Party ink in the centre. Using the Decorative Trio Punch I rounded the upper right and lower left corners before adding the stamped panel to a panel of Poppy Parade cardstock measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝”.

I wrapped a piece of Poppy Parade Striped ribbon around the bottom of the panel securing it on the back with Sellotape. The panel was then added to a Pool Party card base with Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added the double and triple flowers onto the card front on Stampin’ Dimensionals, added some of the black Faceted Dots to the flower centres and 3 extra to decorate. I added a Poppy Parade striped ribbon bow to finish the card.

Butterfly Gala and Swirly Frames stamp sets by Stampin' Up! used for the GDP #168

Butterfly Gala used for the Global Design Project #168 challenge

Today I am sharing the card I made for the Global Design Project challenge number #168. I have used the gorgeous Butterfly Gala stamp set and the Swirly Frames stamp set to mimic the gorgeous wreath card designed by Sarah Berry.

Making the card

I began with a panel of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝”. I inked up the largest circle from the Swirly Frames stamp set using Gray Granite ink and stamped it towards the top of the Whisper White panel. Using the Detailed Trio Punch I rounded the upper left and lower right corners of the stamped panel..

Butterfly Gala and Swirly Frames stamp sets by Stampin' Up! used for the GDP #168

www.crafty-rootes.com – Butterfly Gala and Swirly Frames stamp sets used for the GDP #168

I stamped a number of the small butterflies from the Butterfly Gala stamp set onto scraps of Whisper White cardstock in Gray Granite ink and punched them out using the Butterfly Duet Punch. I coloured the butterflies in using the dark Petal Pink, dark Mint Macaron and dark Balmy Blue Blends pens; I wanted to keep to subtle pastel colours for this card. I added a body to each using Gray granite ink. Using the triple tiny butterfly stamp from the Needle & Thread stamp set I added the butterflies randomly around the circle in Balmy Blue, Mint Macaron and Petal Pink ink.

The sentiment from the Butterfly Gala stamp set was stamped in Balmy Blue ink in the centre f the circle and added the punched butterflies using Mini Glue Dots. I added the decorated panel to a piece of Mint Macaron cardstock having rounded the upper left and lower right corners as before. The whole panel was then added to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. To finishe I added some of the lovely Share What You Love Artisan Pearls.

A pretty box made using the Signs of Santa Bundle by Stampin' Up!

Signs of Santa for the Global Design Project #167

This weeks’ Global Design Challenge #167 is entitled ‘tis the season’ – whoo hoo basically we can share anything Christmas themed so here goes

Secret Santa Box

I have decided to share a box I designed to hold a sweet secret Santa gift which I will be taking to our team Christmas meal later this month.

A pretty box made using the Signs of Santa Bundle by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Signs of Santa for a special secret Santa Box

I started with a piece of Coastal Cabana measuring 7½” by 7½” which I scored at 3” and 4½” using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. I rotate the cardstock one turn and scored at 3” and 4½”. I then took a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock measuring 4⅝” by 4⅝” and scored this at ½” and 1½” on all 4 sides. I trimmed both panels as shown in the photographs.

I ran the embossing buddy over both layers and stamped the sweet little snowflake stamps in Versamark ink on both panels, covered them with Silver Embossing Powder and heat set using my Heat Tool. I put both parts of the box together with Tear & Tape and slipped in my secret Santa gift. I used the lovely Poppy Parade Striped Ribbon to tie up the box

Using the Santa’s Workshop Designer Series Paper and the Santa’s Signpost dies I cut out a Mrs Claus and 3 little elves. I love that we can die cut this paper. I added the die cut pieces to the ribbon with Mini Dimensionals.

Balloon Celebration stamp set used for the Global Design Project #166 sketch challenge

Balloon Celebration for the GDP #166 Challenge

Today I am sharing a card made using the Global Design Project #166 sketch challenge. I love a sketch challenge, it really makes you think about using what you have on your shelf in a different way.

Making the card

I started with a panel of Whisper White cardstock 4” by 2 ¾” and adhered it, offset,  to a panel of Highland Heather cut to the same size. These glued panels were then taken to the Big Shot and had a part circle cut out using the Layering Circle dies.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Balloon Celebration for the Global Design Project #166 sketch challenge

I took a Thick Whisper White card base and adhered a piece of Subtles dsp measuring 5⅝” by 3⅞”. I stamped the balloon string in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and added the die cut panel on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I added a balloon to the negative die cut space using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The balloon was punched using the Balloon Bouquet Punch from Highland Heather cardstock.

I stamped the sentiment from the One Wild Ride stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto a strip of Whisper White cardstock 2¾” by ⅜” and added it to a strip of Highland Heather cardstock measuring 2¾” by ½”. I then punched a Coastal Cabana strip using the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch and added it to the sentiment. I love those little scallops peeking out, so pretty.
