A lovely, masculine, plant themed birthday card made using the Prized Plant stamp set from Stampin' Up!

Prized Plant birthday card

Today I am sharing a card made for my husband’s birthday using the Prized Plant stamp set. This stamp set was perfect as he loves his houseplants – sadly I don’t have green fingers.

Colours in this card are:

To recreate the prized plant card you will need:

Thick Basic White card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛”
Basic White card – 5⅞” by 2¼”
Perennial Lavender dsp – 5⅞” by 1⅞”
Parakeet Party card – 4⅜” by 2⅝”
Basic White card – 4¼” by 2½”
Shaded Spruce card – 2¼” by ⅜”

Using the Timeworn Type Embossing Folder, I embossed the 5⅞” by 2¼” panel of Bsic White card. Placeing the embossed panel face down on my desk butted the dsp right up to it and used Sellotape to adhere the pieces together.

A couple of lengths of Parakeet Party Metallic  were wrapped around the joined pieces and secured on the back with more Sellotape. The whole piece was then glued to the Thick Basic White card base.

Using 2nd generation Shaded Spruce ink I stamped the inner image of the plant. The outline image was then stamped in full strength Shaded Spruce ink.

The infill for the plant was stamped in 2nd generation Parakeet Party ink onto the 4¼” by 2½” piece of Basic White card. The stamped panel was then glued to the Parakeet Party layer. This was added to the card front on Dimensionals.

The sentiment, from the Garden Meadow stamp set, was stamped in Versamark ink, covered with White Embossing Powder and I heat set it with my Heat Tool. I added it to the card front with Dimensionals and liquid glue.

A double ribbon bow and a trio of Shiny Sequins finished the card.

The gate was coloured using a combination of Smoky Slate, Gray Granite & Pebbled Path Blends Pens. I used Balmy Blue Blends Pens, very lightly, to add a little colour between the wooden slats of the fence. The boots were coloured with Balmy Blue Blends Pens. They were then added to the card front.

Blue Pots

Here is a sweet card featuring a row of blue pots made using the Earthen Textures Stamp set and co-ordinating Dies.

Colours used when making this card are:

To recreate the Blue Pots card, you will need:

Azure Afternoon card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛”
Copper Clay card- 5⅝” by 3⅞”
Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” x 2
Scrap Basic White, Azure Afternoon & Copper Clay

From a scrap piece of Basic White card, I die cut a large Deckled Rectangle. I placed the negative piece of the panel over one of the 5½” by 3¾” panels of Basic White card. I held it in place with washi tape.

Using a Blending Brush, I brushed Balmy Blue ink into the negative space. Interestingly Balmy Blue turns out to have grey over tones!

Using Starry Sky ink, I stamped the sentiment onto the inked panel which was then glued to the Copper Clay layer using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. This piece was then added with the same glue to the Azure Afternoon card base.

I die cut 3 pots, using the Earthen Textures Dies, from scrap Azure Afternoon card. I die cut the pot top and the geometric strip from scraps of both Basic White and Copper Clay card as I wasn’t sure which colour I wanted to use.

The twiggy branch was stamped on a large and small pot in Starry Sky ink and a white top added to the smaller pot. I trimmed off about ¼” from the top of the larger pot. I added the white geometric strip to the remaining large pot and trimmed off the excess.

After laying out the pots to get an idea of placement I added the Copper Clay geometric strip to the card front and used liquid glue to add the larger pots at either side of the inked shape. The Smaller pot was then added on Dimensionals.

A trio of Pastel Adhesive-backed Sequins completed the card. I hope you like it.
