Envelope Punch Board boxes to hold little treats from Amsterdam for my team

Oops meant to post this yesterday but seem to have got my days muddled up………don’t you hate when that happens……….Still better late than never. Here are some cute little boxes I made to hold some choccy treats for my team members as they were unable to come with me to Onstage in Amsterdam. I had to share the love and chocolate always hits the spot.

I divided the chocolates so that all my team members had the same number – don’t want any fighting, measured the pile of chocolate to work out the size of paper I needed to make the box and after a lot of head scratching I decided to use the Envelope Punch Board. I went to a fantastic site – http://thecraftyowl.co.uk/boxbuster – entered the measurements and the amazing calculator told me that I needed a piece of dsp measuring 5¼” by 5¼” – I used the retired ‘Inside The Lines’ dsp for to make my boxes but any dsp would work. The box buster is such an amazing tool created by Joanne James aka The Crafty Owl and I was lucky enough to meet her, along with her team mate Helen whilst at Onstage. We are also going to be sharing team training with Joanne’s team in May which should be fun.

Using the Envelope Punch Board I punched and scored at 1 ½” and 2 ½” then turned the dsp 90⁰, matched up the 2 score lines, punched and scored again and repeated all the way around.

Then I folded and burnished the score lines and cut up the 4 tabs on the long sides before adding glue (Fast Fuse Adhesive) to the tabs and adhering them to the short sides forming the base of the box. I popped in the chocolates and folded the 2 small side tabs in, one of the large tabs then folded inwards with the tip tucked in. The remaining side then folded over to close the top. It is slightly domed and the point is folded down and held closed with a Mini Glue Dot.

Once closed, I wrapped a length of twine, I used retired stock, 3 times around the box and tied in a bow. I stamped the sentiment from the Banners For You stamp set onto Whisper White cardstock and die cut it using a sweet little tag from the Cutie Pie Thinlet dies and tied it on using White Baker’s Twine.

Cutie Pie Christmas Trees

I know Christmas has now been and gone but I couldn’t resist using the Cutie Pie die to make 2 more Christmas Tree themed boxes for the ladies craft group.

The first box is made using the Cutie Pie Die set and Lost Lagoon cardstock. I also die cut the triangle from the same set of dies from Night of Navy cardstock and adhered this to the front of the box with Tombow liquid adhesive.

A tree from the Peaceful Pines stamp set was stamped in Mint Macaron ink and die cut using the co-ordinating Perfect Pines Framelit dies. I mounted the die cut tree on Stampin Dimensionals, offset to the right, on the box front. To hold the box closed, I wrapped Gold Cording Trim around 4 times and tied in a bow. The cording trim, both gold and silver are retiring on the 4^th January so get them in my online shop while you still can.

The second box is very simple but effect. The die is cut from Garden Green cardstock and embellished using the Real Red and Very Vanilla Enamel Dots from the Home for Christmas suite which retires on the 4^th January 2016, so if you like them go to my online shop and get them before they are gone. I used the ¼” Hand Held Punch to punch some circles from Gold Glimmer cardstock to give a little bling to the box. The box is topped by a Gold Glimmer star which was die cut using the smallest of Stars Framelits.

I just love using this die set for Christmas projects and can’t wait to try some summer cake box ideas out in the coming months.

Cutie Pie Christmas Packaging

Still on the theme of Christmas and inspired by my upline Mikaela Titheridge http://thecraftyoinkpen.blogspot.co.uk/2015/12/christmas-gift-packaging-voucher.html, I decided to make some Christmas boxes using the Cutie Pie die set. I bought this set a while ago but this is the first time I have used it and I have to say I love it.

The boxes are so easy to put together and the shape is much more versatile than it appears at first glance.

The first Cutie Pie box I made was a CASE of a project on Mikaela’s blog.

I used the retired Naturals White cardstock which I absolutely loved. I was so sad when this retired from the catalogue in June. You could however, use any cardstock for this project. I used the large snowflake from the Holly Jolly Greetings stamp set stamped in Cherry Cobbler ink. I randomly stamp the tiny snowy star image from the same set in Sahara Sand ink as a background. To give some dimension to the box I attached one of the larger Snowflake Elements with a glue dot and added a basic rhinestone for the obligatory Christmas bling. A piece of retired Cherry Cobbler Ribbon was used to tie around the box.

I decided to try the box again in a different colour and with different ribbon on the same cardstock. I used Cucumber Crush, one of the 2015 – 2017 in colours for the stamped snowflake and added a smaller wooden snowflake from my stash with a dimensional. I coloured the wooden snowflake using my Craft Whisper White ink and added a basic rhinestone. The background snowy stars I again stamped using Sahara Sand ink. The soft bow was made using the Dotted Lace Trim in Cucumber Crush. I think this colourway looks very fresh and modern compared to the richer Cherry Cobbler version, loved them both.
