Masculine Apron for the Stamp ‘N Hop Blog Hop

Stamp 'N Hop blog hop by Mo Rootes

Welcome to this month’s Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop where the theme is Masculine cards. My name is Mo Rootes and I live near Cambridge in the UK. If you have hopped over from the lovely Eva Pottsova I am sure her projects have given you some welcome inspiration, please continue to hop on and see what the other hoppers have to share with us this month.

So many of us struggle with making cards for the boys and men in our life, myself included.  Today I have chosen to share a card I made for a friend who loves a good barbeque.

Making the card

I started by choosing a piece of designer series paper (dsp) from the gorgeous Tropical Escape dsp stack. I wanted something muted and more masculine looking as I wanted to stamp on it. Having selected my paper I took it to the Big Shot and die cut an apron using the Apron Builder Framelit dies. I also die cut a pocket, a neck band and some utensils from scraps of Whisper White, Granny Apple Green and Blueberry Bushel cardstock.

Next I took the Make a Difference stamp set and using the individual letters stamped out ‘BBQ’ in Shaded Spruce ink onto the die cut apron. I stamped the word ‘King’ onto the Whisper White apron pocket in the same ink. I then assembled the apron adding the neck band, pocket and BBQ tools with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I stamped the tiny leaves from the Apron of Love stamp set on the pocket in Granny Apple Green ink.

I choose another bolder pattern from the Tropical Escape dsp stack and cut it to 5⅜” by 3⅝”, rounded the upper left and lower right corner using the Detailed Trio Punch and added it to a panel of Granny Apple Green cardstock, 5½” by 3¾” with identically rounded corners.

I added the apron using Stampin’ Dimensionals to a piece of Vellum cardstock 4⅝” by 3⅞” with identically rounded corners. This was added to the panel with Multipurpose Adhesive which was only applied under the apron where it would not be seen.

Taking a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock 11¾” by 4⅛” I scored it at 5 ½” and 2 and 15/16ths to make an easel card. The card topper was then added to the front by apply Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to the bottom half of the panel.

I die cut the oven glove twice from the dsp and twice from Granny Apple Green cardstock and glued the 2 together with Multipurpose glue to make them a little sturdier and added them half way up the inside of the card to hold the easel in place.

I am really happy with how the card turned out. I hope you like it. Please hop on the see what Anastasia Radloff has to share with us.

Ladies crafting at a Stamp-a-Stack

Spring Stamp-a-Stack

Some of my lovely ladies and I spent yesterday crafting away at my Spring Stamp-a-Stack event whilst the sun beat down outside. This time their pack included the fabulous Tutti-Fruitti 6”x6” dsp stack and a pack of Glitter Enamel Dots. This dsp pack is so bright and cheerful……..perfect for those Spring/Summer days. I paired the paper up with some fun and playful stamp sets.
