One of my oldest friends Jo Law – http://www.facebook.com/Jospapercrafts/?fref=ts – who is also one of my downline, has been on a roll making gorgeous box cards and I was inspired to make my own version for my Mum as her Mother’s Day card.
I chose Soft Sky cardstock for the box and cut a piece 12” by 6 ½” and scored it at 2¾”, 5½”, 8¼” and 11” the turned it 90⁰ on my Simply Scored Scoring Tool and scored at 2¾”. A second piece of Soft Sky 5¾” by 2” was scored on the long side at 1” and 4¾” then turned to the short side and cut into 2 1” strips. I cut some Rose Red cardstock into 4 pieces measuring 2½” by 2½” and 1 piece at 6¼” by 2½”. I stuck the layers together with Tombow Liquid Adhesive and added them to the Soft Sky panels.
I chose to use the gorgeous Inside the Lines dsp – one of the Sale-a-Bration free choices with a £45 order until the 31st March 2017 – for my decorative panels and cut 4 pieces at 2¼” by 2¼” and one at 6⅛” by 2¼” . I used Rose Red, Bermuda Bay, Soft Sky, Pink Pirouette, Island Indigo and So Saffron markers to partially colour the dsp before adding them to the Rose Red panels on the box.
I cut up each of the smaller, square panels and removed the small tab at the end. I folded and burnished 3 of the 4 cut squares leaving one intact to act as the back of the box. I then folded and burnished all of the side panels using my Bone Folder and adhered the box together using Fast Fuse Adhesive. I then folded the ends of the two 1” strips and added them to the inside of the box using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.
I stamped lots of butterflies from the Papillon Potpourri stamp set in Rose Red, Bermuda Bay, Pink Pirouette and Soft Sky onto Whisper White cardstock and punched them out using the Elegant Butterfly and the Bitty Butterfly punches.
I cut some thin strips of Window Sheet and stuck the butterflies on using Mini Glue Dots and added them to the supporting strips inside the box so that they appear to be flying out. I added some Basic Rhinestones to give a bit of sparkle to this gorgeous card. The sentiment comes from the Thoughtful Banners stamp set and was stamped in Rose Red ink and punched out using the Classic Label Punch. It was added to the front panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.
I am really pleased with this card, it looks fabulous. I hope Mum likes it.
