The Seaside Bay stamp set and dies were on my desk today and I used them to make a pretty thank you card by combining them with the stunning By the Bay designer series paper (dsp)..
To recreate the birds on the shore card, you will need:
Balmy Blue card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper left corner Night of Navy card – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper left corner Basic White card – 5⅜” by 3⅝ – rounded upper left corner Night of Navy card – ½” wide strip Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper left corner
Using Night of Navy ink, I stamped the large bird and one of the smaller birds in Night of Navy ink onto the panel of By the Bay dsp.

I am loving all the birds, butterflies, dragonflies and bees in my garden at the moment and have made another bird themed card to share with you today featuring a perching parrot.
To recreate the perching parrot card, you will need:
Pear Pizzazz card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored and folded at 4⅛” – rounded upper left corner Tahitian Tide card – 5⅝” by 3⅞” – rounded upper left corner Basic White card – 5 ½” by 3 ¾” – rounded upper left corner – one for the inside Basic White card – 2½” by 2½” Scrap Basic White & Tahitian Tide
I stamped the sentiment, from the Framed Occasions stamp set, in Starry Sky ink onto scrap Basic White card. Using the same ink I stamped the hexagonal frame, from the same stamp set around the sentiment and die cut it using the Beautiful Shapes Dies.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Pretty Birds and Framed Occasions stamp set used to make a lovely perching parrot card
I placed the die cut hexagon onto one of the Basic White panels and drew around the edges lightly with a pencil.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Pretty Birds and Framed Occasions stamp set used to make a lovely perching parrot card
The spay of larger leaves were stamped in Soft Sea Foam ink on either side of the pencilled in hexagon. I added the sprig using Pear Pizzazz ink. The pencil marks were then rubbed out and the sentiment added on Dimensionals. The whole panel was then glued to the Tahitian Tide layer and then to the Pear Pizzazz card front using liquid glue.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Pretty Birds and Framed Occasions stamp set used to make a lovely perching parrot card
The parrot from the Pretty Birds stamp set was stamped in Starry Sky ink onto scrap Basic White card and coloured using Blends Pens. I used Soft Succulent for the head, Parakeet Party for the chest and back and Tahitian Tide for the wing and tail feather. The beak was coloured with Pale Papaya and the little bit above the beak and the feet in Crumb Cake. I used the Birdhouse Dies to die cut the bird and added it to the card front on Dimensionals.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – The Pretty Birds and Framed Occasions stamp set used to make a lovely perching parrot card
From scrap Tahitian Tide card, I die cut a trio of feathers using the Birdhouse Dies and tucked them under the sentiment.

My Mum loves a Christmas Robin and I made this card for her. Sadly she has dementia and no longer recognises us when we visit but I hope this cheerful robin will bring a smile to her face.
To recreate the Christmas Robin card, you will need:
Old Olive card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” Soft Suede card – 4⅝” by 3⅛” Fluid 100 watercolor card – 4½” by 3” Poppy Parade card – 5⅞” by 2⅛” Very Vanilla card – 5½” by 3¾” Very Vanilla scrap
We Brits. are so happy to have a Robin stamp, it is such an iconic bird here is the UK and especially so at Christmas. I mounted the lovely robin image onto one of the Stamparatus plates, inked it up with Sahara Sand ink and stamped in onto the small panel of Fluid 100 watercolor card. Because this card has a textured surface, I like to use the Stamparatus in case I need to stamp the image a second time.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – A pretty traditional robin themed Christmas card made using the Happy Holly-Days stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
I used the following colours to watercolor the robin – Sahara Sand, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Gray Granite, Old Olive & Poppy Parade. I added a little of each colour to an acrylic block and used a Water Painter to pick up the ink and apply it to the bird. Doing it this was means that I can blend inks together to achieve different shades of colour.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – A pretty traditional robin themed Christmas card made using the Happy Holly-Days stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
The eye of the bird was outlined using a Basic Black Stampin’ Write Maker and I used a Chalk Marker to add the highlight to the eye.I flagged both ends of the Poppy Parade strip and added it to the Old Olive card base with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – A pretty traditional robin themed Christmas card made using the Happy Holly-Days stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
Using the Stamparatus again, I stamped the sentiment from the Christmas to Remember stamp set in Poppy Parade ink. I repeated the inking and stamping to get a darker colour. The stamped panel was then added to the Soft Suede layer with the same liquid glue. The topper was then added to the card front on Dimensionals.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – A pretty traditional robin themed Christmas card made using the Happy Holly-Days stamp set by Stampin’ Up
I tied a large bow using the Gold Elegant Trim and added it to the card front using a Dimensional. The holly was stamped in Old Olive ink and coloured using Old Olive and Poppy Parade ink and my Water Painters. The coloured image was then fussy cut using scissors and added over the bow using Mini Dimensionals.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – A pretty traditional robin themed Christmas card made using the Happy Holly-Days stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
I love this card; I think my water colouring needs a bit of work but the bird is so pretty. I hope you like it

Today I am sharing a jolly good luck chick card made to celebrate a friends’ retirement at the end of August. Like me she wok as a nurse for over 35 years at Royal Papworth Hospital, a specialist heart and lung hospital here in the UK. I am so looking forward to celebrating with her with a visit to our favourite café for a special full English breakfast.
To recreate the good luck chick card, you will need:
Poppy Parade card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper left corner Soft Suede card – 5¾” by 3⅞” – rounded upper left corner Basic White card – 5⅝” by 3¾” – rounded upper left corner Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper left corner Basic White ¼” strip
I started by stamping the 1st dancing chicken on the right-hand side of the slightly longer Basic White panel. I stamped the same image onto three Post It Notes and cut around the images with Scissors and used these to provide masks.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – A quirky, fun and happy retirement card made using the Birthday Chick stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
One of the masks was placed over the stamped chicken and another chicken was stamped to the left. The second mask was then placed over the top of this chicken and another bird stamped to the left.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – A quirky, fun and happy retirement card made using the Birthday Chick stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
The last mask was then added to the third chicken and the chicken with a balloon was stamped so that she appeared to be floating out of the gang. The masks were then removed.
I used the following Blends Marker Pens to colour in the chicks and the balloon – Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Cinnamon Cider, Gray Granite, Poppy Parade, Daffodil Delight & Bronze
The stamped panel was layered onto the Soft Suede panel using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The whole piece was then added to the Poppy Parade card base on Dimensionals.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – A quirky, fun and happy retirement card made using the Birthday Chick stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
The sentiment, from the Welcoming Woods stamp set, was stamped in Poppy Parade ink onto the strip of Basic White and the strip was cut down and flagged with Scissors. I added a trio of Red Rhinestones to finish the card.
