Playful Valentine card

Today I am sharing the card I made my husband for Valentine’s Day using the Playful Alphabet dies, Window Sheet and strips of card. This card was inspired by a Youtube video by fellow demonstrator Angie of Stamping With Amore.

Colours used in today’s project are:

To recreate the Playful Valentine card. You will need:

Thick Basic White card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛”
Window Sheet – 4⅛” by 2¼”
Misty Moonlight – 4⅛” by ⅜”
Panels of Misty Moonlight, So Saffron, Pacific Point, Old Olive & Balmy Blue 2½” wide
Scrap Basic White

Taking the 2½” wide strips of card stock I cut them down into thin strips, wider at one end than the other.

A lovely masculine themed Valentine card using Window Sheet, Palyful Alphabet dies and some scrap card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Playful Alphabet Dies, Window Sheet and card stock scraps make a lovely masculine Valentine card

I added strips of Tear & Tape Adhesive down the length of each strip and added them to the Window Sheet panel leaving a small gap between each strip. I trimmed off the excess using sharp scissors.

Dimensionals and Mini Dimensionals were then added to the Window Sheet behind the card stock strips, so they would be hidden and the whole panel adhered to the card front.

I inked the word YOU from the Well Said stamp set in Versamark ink and stamped it onto the long strip of Misty Moonlight. The sentiment was then covered with White Embossing Powder and heat setting it with my Heat Tool.

Real Red – 5 ½” by 3 ¾”
Basic White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” x 2 – one for the inside
Flowers For Every Season dsp

A gorgeous bunch of flowers card made using the Jar of Flowers stamp set

Ornate Poppy

Here is a sweet Ornate Poppy card I made to celebrate the wedding anniversary of my friends Lyndsay and Richard. Lyndsay should recognise the poppy as I made a number of them when I was last with her. They were inspired by a lovely card made by  Su Mohr which I found on Pinterest.

To recreate the Ornate Poppy card you will need:

Petal Pink card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Early Espresso – 5½” by 3¾” – for the inside
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – for the inside
Early Espresso – 5⅜” by 3⅝”
Scrap Whisper White, Early Espresso & Mossy Meadow

I ran the smaller Early Espresso layer through the Big Shot inside the Ornate Floral Embossing Powder. This folder is gorgeous and gives so much texture to the card.

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk -An annivesary card made using the painted poppies bundle and the ornate floral embossing folder

I wrapped a piece of the Petal Pink Organdie Stripped Ribbon around the embossed panel and adhered it on the back with Sellotape. This panel was glued to the Petal Pink card base using Snail Adhesive.

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk -An annivesary card made using the painted poppies bundle and the ornate floral embossing folder

I took the ‘smudge’ stamp, from the Painted Poppies stamp set inked it up with Flirty Flamingo ink and stamped it randomly a scrap piece of Whisper White. This step was repeated using So Saffron ink and Petal Pink ink until the whole layer was covered in ink.

Using the Poppy Moments dies I die cut the detailed flower from the stamped panel. I die cut the same image and the full blank flower from Whisper White card stock. I mounted the patterned die cut flower outline onto the White flower blank with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and carefully fitted in the white die cut pieces. Doesn’t the flower look fab……..I love bit of paper piecing. I die cut a flower centre from scrap Early Espresso card and added it to the centre of the flower using the liquid glue.

I punched a leaf from scrap Mossy Meadow card using the Leaf  Punch – so sad this is retiring, and added it to the back of the poppy using Snail Adhesive. The poppy was added over the ribbon on Dimensionals.

The sentiment from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set, another set I will miss, was stamped using Early Espresso ink, die cut using one of the Stitched So Sweetly dies. I added it to the card front with Snail Adhesive. To complete the card I added a scattering of Iridescent Sequins, yet another thing I will really miss…..

I hope Lyndsay and Richard like the card.

A Christmas stamp set used to make a cute Anniversary card for the Stamp 'n Hop blog hop

Cup of …………Anniversary?

Welcome to the September Stamp ‘n Hop Blog Hop where our theme this month is ‘ any stamp set or dsp’.  If you have come from the lovely Sandra Herzog I am sure you loved her project. You are currently visiting Mo Rootes from near Cambridge in the Uk. I hope you like what I am sharing today.

I don’t know about you but I love a set that can be used for more than one sort of occasion and as soon as I saw the Cup of Christmas stamp set in the Autumn/Winter catalogue I knew it would make a fantastic anniversary card.

To Recreate the Cup of…..Anniversary card you will need:

So Saffron card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper left corner
Bermuda Bay cardstock – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper left corner
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” x 2 – rounded upper left corner
Scrap Whisper White cardstock

I began by stamping the 2 cups, one in Flirty Flamingo ink and the other in Bermuda Bay ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and die cut them out using the co-ordinating Cup of Cheer dies.

I placed them on one of the Whisper White panels for placement and added a Pearlised Doily.

A Christmas stamp set used to make a cute Anniversary card for the Stamp 'n Hop blog hop

www.crafty-rootes.com – A pretty anniversary card made using the Cup of Christmas stamp set

At this point I wasn’t happy, I knew the card needed something else but I couldn’t decide what!!! Don’t you hate when that happens…….. I tried a couple of embossing folders but felt they over-powered the cups. I tried a coloured circle instead of the doily…….wasn’t happy with that either.

A Christmas stamp set used to make a cute Anniversary card for the Stamp 'n Hop blog hop

www.crafty-rootes.com – A pretty anniversary card made using the Cup of Christmas stamp set

At this point I reached across my desk for my catalogue, seeking inspiration and accidently pulled out the pack of Basic Pattern Decorative Masks along with the catalogue. Light bulb moment right there!

I used a Sponge Dauber and So Saffron ink to colour through the mask and it was perfect, just what I was looking for.

A Christmas stamp set used to make a cute Anniversary card for the Stamp 'n Hop blog hop

www.crafty-rootes.com – A pretty anniversary card made using the Cup of Christmas stamp set

The sponged panel was mounted onto the Bermuda Bay layer with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. To add a bit more texture to the card front I added some of the gorgeous Polka Dot Tuille Ribbon and tucked the Pearlised Doily underneath. The panel was then added to the So Saffron card base with the same adhesive.

The sentiment  from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set was stamped in Bermuda Bay ink and the cups placed on top of the doily, the striped cup with the same liquid glue and the spotty cup on Dimensionals.  I added a Polka Dot Tuille bow and a trio of Iridescent Sequins to complete the card front.

I stamped the striped cup on the remaining Whisper White panel and adhered it to the inside. The same image was stamped on the front of the envelope.

I do hope you like my card. Please continue on to see what Narelle Fasulo has to share with us.

Lift me up stamp set and Up & away dies for an anniversary card

Lift Me Up Anniversary Card

Today I have used the Lift Me Up stamp set and Up & Away dies to make an anniversary card for my lovely husband.

Making the Lift Me Up card

I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock. I then took a clear block and added some Balmy Blue ink by pressing the ink pad to the block. I added a drop of glycerine and mixed it with the Balmy Blue ink, I read somewhere that this gives a smoother ink blend and it absolutely does. It was amazing; the ink went on smoothly with no streaks and blobs. I added this panel to the front of a Thick Whisper White card base.

I stamped the large hot air balloon in Granny Apple Green ink onto a scrap of Granny Apple Green cardstock and die cut it using the Up & Away dies and my Big Shot. I stamped the small hot air balloon in Bermuda Bay onto Bermuda Bay cardstock and again in Pacific Point on Pacific Point cardstock and die cut them out. While I had the Big Shot out I also die cut some of the cloud shapes from scrap Whisper White cardstock.

I stamped the sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set in Pacific Point ink onto a cloud. The clouds were then added onto the inked piece using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. Delicate filigree butterfly by Stampin' Up! for an Anniversary card

Springtime Impressions Butterfly

Today I am sharing a card I made using the gorgeous new Springtime Impressions dies. You can purchase these in a bundle with the pretty Abstract Flowers stamp set with  10% discount but today I am only using the dies.

To Make the Card

Using my Stampin’ Trimmer I cut a panel of Petal Pink cardstock at 5⅜” by 3⅝”. This is one of our new colours and is such a soft and delicate colour. I placed the large detailed butterfly from the Springtime Impressions dies in the lower left hand corner and ran it through my Big Shot. I also ran a 4½” by 2½” piece of Vellum through the Big Shot with the same butterfly die.

I then inserted the upper right corner of the Petal Pink layer into the Lovely Floral Embossing Folder and ran it through the Big Shot. Love the delicate texture this gives to the card.

Framed Painted Harvest

I can’t seem to get enough of the fab Painted Harvest stamp set at the moment and have made a cute framed painted harvest card to share with you today.

I took a layer of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” and stamped the more solid flower image to the left of panel centre, using Pool Party ink. I added the second layer of stamping in Sweet Sugarplum ink on top, love this colour combo. The more filigree leaves were stamped using Smoky Slate ink. I had intended to stamp the flower centre in Smoky Slate as well but it appears that I hadn’t cleaned my block very well so it looks like the Crumb Cake ink I used on a previous project……..hate when that happens.

Painted Harvest sunflower anniversay card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Painted Harvest stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I took a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and die cut the largest square from the Stitched Shapes Framelits and the slightly smaller square from the Layering Squares dies to create a frame. This is so easy to do as the dies nestle together so well and it is easier to run them through the Big Shot together.

Pink sunflower in an off set frame

I added Foam Adhesive strips to the back of the frame and added it partially over the flower image and tipped over. The sentiment from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set was added just below in Sweet Sugarplum ink.

I added the finished panel to a layer of Smoky Slate cardstock then to a Pool Party card base. I stamped the flower again on a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” and added it to the inside of the card using Tombow. Loving all these soft colours together. Hope you like them too.
