Hello and welcome to the Stamping With Friends Blog Hop where we are sharing balcony fun fold cards. Now, I have never made one of these fun folds and spent quite a bit of time working out what I wanted to do. This card, made using the Beary Cute stamp set was inspired by a Youtube video made by the super talented Jay Soriano
Colours found in this card are:
To recreate the bears on a balcony card, you will need:
Night of Navy card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛”
Basic White card – 5⅝” by ⅞” x 4 – one for the back of the card to write on
Night of Navy card – 5½” by 3¾” x 3
Basic White card – 8½” by 2” – scored at 4⅛ and then at ½” at each end
Basic White card – 5¼” by 2¼” – scored at 2¼” and then at ⅜” at each end
Scrap Basic White
I tore a piece of copy paper into wavy strips and used them, with a Blending Brush and Night of Navy to add texture to the Night of Navy panels.
I then tried Jay’s technique with the soft pastels and drew over the dark blue lines with the Granny Apple Green pastel stick.
I used the flat end of the stick to stroke the colour upwards. I added some of the Gorgeous Grape using the pastel stick then lightly blended the colour with a Sponge Dauber.
The pastels have a tendency to smudge so I sprayed the panels with hairspray to set the colour.
The panels were then glued to the Basic White panels and were then glued to the front and inside of the Night of Navy card base.
Taking the 2 strips of Basic White card, I cut a wavy pattern along the top.
I took more of the copy paper strips and used a Sponge Dauber to stroke on Pool Party ink to give the effect of snow which would ground my bears.
I glued the inked strips to the inside of the card using the tabs at either end, making sure to line the centre of each strip to the centre of the card.
Onto scrap Basic White card, I stamped a variety of bears from the stamp set in Night of Navy ink.
Some I punched out using the Beary Cute Punch, the others I fussy cut out.
The bears were then added to the inside of the card and the card front.
The sentiment was a bit of an after-thought and was stamped in Night of Navy on a scrap of inked Basic White card. I added it to the card front with liquid glue.
A scattering of Iridescent Rhinestones completed the card.
I was fairly pleased with the way it turned out. Hope you like it.
