I made these gorgeous little triangular treat boxes as table gifts for the ladies coming to classes this month.
Method
I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock 5¼” by 5”. Using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool and Stylus I scored on the long side at ½ , 1¾ ”, 3”, 4¼” and 4⅜”. I then put a small notch at 2⅜” at the top and the bottom of the cardstock. I rotated the cardstock 90⁰ and scored at 1” and 4” on the short side.
I chose 4 of the smaller floral images from the Cake Soiree Stamp set and stamped them randomly all over the cardstock then folded and burnished all the score lines as shown.
I added Fast Fuse to the 4 tabs, stuck the box together and pinched the front and back together at the top to give the lovely triangular sides to the box. I added a mini Toblerone to each box, tucked in the ⅞” flap and brought the other flap over the top.
Such a pretty little box and perfect for a mini treat.

This month we used the Cake Soiree stamp set and Sweet Cake Builder dies for this month’s classes. I chose this set deliberately because I wanted to showcase the 3 types of embossing – dry, heat and embossing paste, and we had so much fun!!
Let the fun begin!
www.crafty-rootes.com. Cake Soiree Bundle by Stampin’ Up!
The 1st card we made used the lovely Silver Embossing Paste. To begin with we stamped the solid cake in Wisteria Wonder ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock. The stamped cake was laid onto a sheet of plastic and one of the Sweet Soiree Decorative Masks was laid on top. We took a scoop of the Silver Embossing Paste and spread it across the mask in a line layer using the Palette Knives. We lifted the mask off revealing the silver stripes on the cake. This was then set to one side to dry thoroughly and the mask and palette knives were popped into a bowl of warm soapy water then washed at the end of class. Taking the delicate floral cake stamp and Pink Pirouette ink we stamped on the upper left hand corner and lower right hand corner of a Thick Whisper White card front. We also stamped the same image inside the card and on a Whisper White Envelope. We die cut the largest of the Lots of labels dies from Pink Pirouette cardstock and the next size down from Whisper White cardstock. We then trimmed the bottom of both labels and matted them together with Tombow Liquid Adhesive and added a Silver Ribbon bow to the top. When the embossing paste was dry we die cut the cake using the Sweet Cake Builder Dies and added a bow die cut from Silver Foil. The cake was added to the label on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
www.crafty-rootes.com. Cake Soiree Bundle by Stampin’ Up!
To make the 2nd card we stamped the floral cake in Momento Tuxedo Black ink then coloured it in using Wisteria Wonder, Pink Pirouette, Calypso Coral, Pear Pizzazz, Pool Party & So Saffron inks and Blender Pens. We stamped the smaller of the open roses in Pink Pirouette ink onto a Pink Pirouette card front and rounded the upper right corner with a WRMK’s corner rounder. We dry embossed a strip of Whisper White cardstock using the Sparkle Embossing Folder and the Big Shot. We added a piece of Silver Metallic Ribbon at the top before it was added a strip of Wisteria Wonder cardstock to the left side and glued the whole piece to the left side of the card front. We die cut the gorgeous decorative ‘plate’ from Wisteria Wonder cardstock and added it to the back of the cake with Tombow. Some of the ladies die cut the foliage from Pear Pizzazz cardstock and added it behind the cake which was raised up on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
www.crafty-rootes.com. Cake Soiree Bundle by Stampin’ Up!
The 3rd card focused on heat embossing. We stamped the floral cake onto a scrap of Pool Party cardstock in Versamark Ink and yes we did remember to use the Embossing Buddy!! We sprinkled the stamped cake with Silver Embossing Powder and heat set it using the Heat Tool. We also stamped the sentiment in Versamark onto a panel of Whisper White cardstock and heat embossed it in the silver. The cake was added to a cake plate and stand die cut from Silver Foil. The cake was then added to the Whisper White panel using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The whole panel was added to a layer of Pink Pirouette cardstock – the same layer that we used to die cut the label for the 1st card. The whole topper was then added to a Wisteria Wonder card base.
I really enjoyed this month’s classes and I know the ladies had a great time.

Today I am sharing the birthday card I made for my lovely husband using the Waterfront stamp set. I absolutely love this stamp set but I have to admit when I first opened it I found it quite intimidating…………and then I started to see the most amazing projects made using it. So I took it out and started to play.
Making the Waterfront card
I started with a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” and using the ‘mountain ‘image I stamped it multiple times in 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation Smoky Slate ink on the left hand side of the cardstock. Stamping the image multiple times in many directions and in many generations of ink has created a cliff effect with texture and shading. I used an Aqua Painter to soften and blend the stamping.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk-Waterfront stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
I added the ‘trees’ at the base of the cliff in multi generation Smoky Slate ink. Right at the bottom of the panel I stamped just the tops of the trees in Smoky Slate ink to give the appearance of shrubby bushes. I then added some trees in Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I added some Whisper White ink to the left side of some of the trees to give the effect of snow.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk-Waterfront stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
I punched a circle from a Post It Note using a 1” Circle Punch making sure to catch the sticky part and added it to the scene just above the tree line. Taking a wedge of Stampin’ Sponge I inked it up in Pacific Point ink and blended it over the top of the panel to add depth to the sky. I stamped the ‘tiny stars’ randomly across the sky in Whisper White ink, it is really subtle but gives of a snowy sky. I peeled away the mask and used a Sponge Dauber to colour the sun, or possibly moon……..I can’t decide if it is a day or night picture.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk-Waterfront stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
I mounted the stamped panel onto a layer of Basic Black cardstock 5½” by 3¾” using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I added it to a Thick Whisper White card base on Stampin Dimensionals and stamped the sentiment from the Party Pandas stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink.
www.crafty-rootes.co.uk-Waterfront stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
I am really happy with the card and hope my husband likes it. Let me know what you think?

Welcome, this month for the Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop (try saying that fast when you are tired) we are focusing on the gorgeous items in the 2nd Sale-a-Bration release. Don’t you just love the chance to earn more amazing free goodies, I know I do.
I have chosen to use the Eclectic Expression stamp set for today’s blog hop. I have to admit this stamp set was not the first item I saw when I opened the brochure. It isn’t as flashy and obvious as the other options but I have come to love these more abstract sets. With a set like this I usually stamp everything out just to see what the images look like and how they relate to each other and here is what I came up with.
Method in my madness
I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock 5⅞” by 2¼” and stamped the small spotted circle randomly leaving large gaps between each circle. I initially stamped in Pear Pizzazz ink but ended up changing this to Tranquil Tide. Taking the smaller of the ‘splotchy’ images I stamped around 2 of the spotty circles to form flower petals, slightly overlapping looks better. I repeat this using Daffodil Delight ink then Peakaboo Peach ink rotating the stamp to give the flowers a different look. Having decided I didn’t like the Pear Pizzazz I stamped the spotty circle again in Tranquil Tide ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and punched them out using the ½” Circle Punch. I added these to the centre of each flower using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Eclectic Expression by Stampin’ Up!
I mounted the stamped panel onto a layer of Calypso Coral cardstock 5⅞” by 2 ½” using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I planned to add this panel to a Thick Whisper White card base but felt there was something missing. After a bit of faffing I took a strip of Daffodil Delight cardstock 5⅞” by ½”, punched it out using the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch and added it to the right side using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I added the whole panel to the Thick Whisper White card base using Tombow.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Eclectic Expression by Stampin’ Up!
I stamped the sentiment from the Badges & Banners Stamp set in Tranquil Tide ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and punched it out using the Duet Banner Punch. I used the same punch to punch a piece of Tranquil Tide cardstock which I added to the back to give a shadow effect. I added this to the card front using Tombow on the right and a Stampin’ Dimensional on the left. A scattering of Iridescent Sequins finished added a little sparkle to the card.

I have been playing with the Cake Soiree Stamp Set over the last few days. Such pretty, delicate images in this stamp set which at first glance screamed weddings to me but it can be used for so much more.
To make the card
I started with a panel of Very Vanilla cardstock 4 ¾” by 3” and stamped the intricate floral cake image in Momento Tuxedo Black ink at the bottom. I coloured in the flowers using the Light & Dark Daffodil Delight and the Light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends. I used the Light & Dark Old Olive Blends to colour in the leaves.
www.crafty-rootes.com- Cake Soiree by Stampin’ Up!
I stamped the ‘bunting’ and the sentiment from the In The Trees stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink in the upper right hand corner of the Very Vanilla panel and coloured the bunting in using the Light & Dark Daffodil Delight, Light Calypso Coral Stampin’ Blends and the Light Old Olive Stampin’ Blends Pens.
www.crafty-rootes.com- Cake Soiree by Stampin’ Up!
I rounded the upper left corner using the WRMK Corner Rounder and added it to a layer of Daffodil Delight cardstock, also with a rounded corner using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I wanted to soften the card and add some texture so added a piece of Very Vanilla Lace Trim to the right side of the stamped panel and added the finished topper to a Crumb Cake card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.
www.crafty-rootes.com- Cake Soiree by Stampin’ Up!
I stamped the small flowers in Daffodil Delight ink and rolled the edges of one in Calypso Coral ink and the other in Crushed Curry ink before die cut them using the Sweet Cake Builder Dies. I added one to the top of the cake using Tombow Liquid Adhesive and the other on a Stampin’ Dimensional.
I hope you like the card today.

Every month our team are set a challenge by our lovely upline Mikaela Titheridge – thecraftyoinkpen.co.uk – This month’s challenge was to create a card for a girl and a card for a guy using the same layout. We are allowed to use a different stamp set or dies for each card but the layout has to be recognisably the same.
I chose to use the gorgeous Bottles and Bubbles Framelit Dies for both cards and started by die cutting a number of the large and small bottles from Whisper White cardstock using the Bottles and Bubbles Framelit dies. I also cut out a large bottle in Pacific Point cardstock and Rose Red cardstock.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Bubbles and Bottles Framelit dies for a birthday card
Taking 2 pieces of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝”. I placed the Pacific Point bottle on one layer and the Rose Red bottle on the other then randomly laid out the die cut white bottles to fill the remaining space. Although the layout was the same I had already decided to have one card portrait style and the other landscape.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Bubbles and Bottles Framelit dies for a birthday card
Originally I planned to pop up the coloured bottles on Stampin’ Dimensionals but I didn’t like how that looked; instead all the bottles were adhered to the Whisper White panel using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I used scissors to trim off the over-hanging die cut bottles.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Bubbles and Bottles Framelit dies for a birthday card
The male, Pacific Point version was added to a Thick Whisper White card base and the Rose Red version to a Rose Red card base in the same way. I stamped the sentiment from the Bird Banter stamp set onto 2 strips of Whisper White cardstock 5⅞” by ⅜”, one using Pacific Point Ink, the other in Rose Red ink. I banner ended both pieces using Scissors but ended cutting the Pacific Point version down to about 1½”.

I love the simplicity of these cards, hope you like them.

Today I have been making a bunch of gorgeous little Chinese Fortune Cookie holders using the Artistically Asian Stamp set and inspired by the lovely Gaynor Boyce of Positively Papercraft – click on her name to go to her video . I have been asked to talk to a club in our village next week about our trip to China and these are the perfect little gift to take with me.
I started with a piece of Real Red cardstock 9¼” by 5”. Using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool I scored on the long side at 4” and 5¼” and notched at 1” and 8¼” top and bottom. I then flipped the cardstock over and scored on the short side at 1” and 4”.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Artistically Asian fortune cookie wrap
With the cardstock in landscape – long side at the top and bottom – I cut up either side of the central square. Using the sharp Paper Snips (scissors) I the cut off the piece from the notch to the 1” or 4” score line on all 4 corners. Taking a longer pair of scissors (you could do this on your Paper Trimmer) I cut from the notch to the centre square tabs on all 4 sides and then cut these tabs off. Picture was taken using green cardstock after the boxes were made, I ran out of Real Red!
www.crafty-rootes.com – Artistically Asian fortune cookie wrap
I inked up the ‘bamboo’ image from the Artistically Asian stamp set using Cherry Cobbler ink, I tried Real Red but it faded into the background a little too much for the look I was going for, and stamped it at the bottom of the front and back panel having folded and burnished both of these score lines. I folded the triangular side pieces to the front and back and burnished. Using a Mini Glue Dot on the point of each triangle I stuck 2 to the front and 2 to the back.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Artistically Asian fortune cookie wrap
Taking scrap Real Red cardstock I die cut 2 circles using my Big Shot and the Layering Circle Dies before stamping the ‘chrysanthemum’ image onto one circle in Versamark Ink and the 2 Chinese text stamps saying Faith in God & Friendship onto the other circle in Versamark ink. I then covered them with Gold Embossing Powder before heat setting with my Heat Tool.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Artistically Asian fortune cookie wrap
Using Tombow Liquid Adhesive I added the embossed Real Red circles to bigger scalloped circles cut from scrap Basic Black cardstock using the same die set. The circles were then added with a Stampin’ Dimensional, one to the front and the other to the back. The fortune cookie was placed inside and the back and front were held together with a Mini Gold Library Clip.

I really love these sweet little packages and I hope the ladies and gentlemen coming to the talk will like them.

I love the new Blossoming Basket stamp set and co-ordinating Basket Weave Embossing Folder; one of the additional Sale-a-Bration choices you can earn with a £90 order until the end of March 2018. I used the set today to make a sweet get well soon card for a friend.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Blossoming Basket stamp set and Basket Weave Embossing Folder
I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock 3¼” by 3⅛” and stamped the cute basket using Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I used a selection of Stampin’ Blends Pens to colour in the image – Dark Pink Pirouette and Light & Dark Rich Razzelberry for the flowers. Light & Dark Old Olive and Light Smoky Slate for the leaves and Light & Dark Soft Sky for the basket. I stamped the sweet little butterfly from the same set on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock, coloured it in with the Dark Soft Sky and Light Rich Razzelberry Stampin’ Blends before cutting it out with scissors.

Taking a piece of Whisper White cardstock 5⅞” by 2½” I ran it through the Big Shot using the Basket Weave Embossing Folder. I love the dimension this gives, it is gorgeous. I added the textured panel to the front of a Rich Razzelberry card base. The stamped panel was added to the card front on Stampin’ Dimensionals then I added the tiny butterfly to the basket handle before adding some Basic Rhinestones to the image.

The sentiment from the Apron of Love stamp set was stamped in Rich Razzelberry ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and trimmed out with scissors. I added it to the basket using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.
I am really happy with this card, so pretty. I hope you like it.

Today I’m sharing the swaps Tutti-Frutti Panda cards I have made for tomorrows Team Training Event organised by my lovely Upline Mikaela Titheridge.
wanted to use the absolutely lovely Tutti-Frutti Cards & Envelopes which are one of the free choices with a £45 order in the 2018 Sale-a-Bration brochure. These are so easy to overlook in amongst the more glamourous stamp sets, dsp and dies but they really are lovely, beautiful colours and so versatile. I wanted the pretty card fronts to be seen so looked for a fairly small image for my cards.
I settled on the quirky Party Pandas stamp set which is also a free choice from the 2018 Sale-a-Bration brochure. I stamped the sweet panda with the balloon in the lower left corner of a panel of Whisper White cardstock 4” by 2½”. I used Archival Basic Black ink and found I had better results using a stamp positioner such as a Stamparatus with a really well inked pad. I didn’t bother to ink up the balloon as I planned to cover it with dsp balloons. I added the sentiment from the same set in a co-ordinating Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral or Lemon Lime Twist ink.
I rounded the upper right corner of the Whisper White cardstock panel using the retired Project life Corner Rounder and added a piece of 3¼” by 1¾” cardstock in either Bermuda Bay, Calypso Coral or Lemon Lime Twist behind the lower right corner and added the whole piece to one of the Tutti-Frutti card bases.
I punched a selection of large and small balloons from the Bubble & Fizz dsp pack, another free 2018 Sale-a-Bration choice with a £45 order, using the Balloon Bouquet Punch. The smaller balloons were added to the card front with Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The larger balloon was added on Stampin’ Dimensionals. Such a cute card and I love that all the items used with the exception of the ink pads were free!!!!

Today I’ve been playing with 2 new products – the Beautiful Day Stamp Set from the Spring/Summer 2018 catalogue and the gorgeous Tutti-Frutti Cards and Envelopes which are a free Sale-a-Bration choice with a £45 order.
www.crafty-rootes.com-Beautiful Day Stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
I started by stamping the stunning butterfly image in Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto a Whisper White cardstock panel 4⅞” by 3⅝”. I wanted to create an ombre effect when colouring the butterfly and chose to use Stampin’ Blends to achieve this effect.
www.crafty-rootes.com-Beautiful Day Stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
I started with the Dark Cherry Cobbler and used small feather strokes in each section of the butterfly wings in turn. Next I used the Light Cherry Cobbler Blends Pen and deliberately did not blend the 2 shades together. I repeated the feathering using the Dark Calypso Coral then the Light Calypso Coral Blends Pen. The centre sections I coloured using the Dark and Light Daffodil Blends Pen the same fashion
www.crafty-rootes.com-Beautiful Day Stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
I mounted 2 strips of Daffodil Delight cardstock, 4 ¾” by 1⅛” behind the stamped Whisper White piece offset to the top left with the one piece and to the bottom right with the second piece. I really like this offset partial mount, it is really quirky but very effective. The panels were added with Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The whole piece was then added to the front of a Tutti-Frutti card base on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
www.crafty-rootes.com-Beautiful Day Stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
I stamped the sentiment from the Apron of Love stamp set in Calypso Coral ink onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and added a banner end using Paper Snips. I added a tiny scalloped Daffodil Delight cardstock border to the bottom in the sentiment having punched it out using the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch. The sentiment was added to the card front using Tombow. To finish I added some of the Tutti-Frutti Adhesive Backed Sequins and covered the central Daffodil Delight sections in Clear Wink of Stella. Gorgeous!
