A pretty box made using the Signs of Santa Bundle by Stampin' Up!

Signs of Santa for the Global Design Project #167

This weeks’ Global Design Challenge #167 is entitled ‘tis the season’ – whoo hoo basically we can share anything Christmas themed so here goes

Secret Santa Box

I have decided to share a box I designed to hold a sweet secret Santa gift which I will be taking to our team Christmas meal later this month.

A pretty box made using the Signs of Santa Bundle by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Signs of Santa for a special secret Santa Box

I started with a piece of Coastal Cabana measuring 7½” by 7½” which I scored at 3” and 4½” using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. I rotate the cardstock one turn and scored at 3” and 4½”. I then took a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock measuring 4⅝” by 4⅝” and scored this at ½” and 1½” on all 4 sides. I trimmed both panels as shown in the photographs.

I ran the embossing buddy over both layers and stamped the sweet little snowflake stamps in Versamark ink on both panels, covered them with Silver Embossing Powder and heat set using my Heat Tool. I put both parts of the box together with Tear & Tape and slipped in my secret Santa gift. I used the lovely Poppy Parade Striped Ribbon to tie up the box

Using the Santa’s Workshop Designer Series Paper and the Santa’s Signpost dies I cut out a Mrs Claus and 3 little elves. I love that we can die cut this paper. I added the die cut pieces to the ribbon with Mini Dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment from the Signs of Santa stamp set in Poppy Parade ink and die cut a label. I attached it to the box with a Mini Glue Dot.

A pretty birthday card made using the Butterfly Gala stamp set and embossed resist technique

Emboss Resist Butterfly Gala for a Inspire Create Challenge #032

I have been playing with ideas for next year’s classes and came up with this one using the emboss resist technique and the gorgeous Butterfly Gala stamp set. It was the perfect card for the Inspire Create Challenge #032. This is a sketch challenge but the image shows only a blank page so we can submit anything at all for the challenge.

Making the card

I started with a panel of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅞” by 2⅛”. I ran over the panel with my embossing buddy to get rid of static and stamped one of the lovely double butterfly images randomly down the panel in Versamark ink. I covered the Versamark ink with White Embossing Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool.

I inked up one of the sponge brayers with Lemon Lime Twist ink and inked up the bottom third of the stamped panel. I then added Balmy Blue ink to the middle of the panel and Highland Heather to the top of the panel making sure to blend the layers together. I wiped over the panel with some kitchen paper to remove the excess ink from the embossed butterflies and set the panel aside to dry. When dry I glued it to a 5⅞” by 2⅜”piece of Botanical Butterfly dsp.

Taking a Thick Whisper White card base I stamped the double butterfly down the card front in the same order of ink. The stamped and embossed panel was added with multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to the centre left of the card front with the stamped butterflies peeking out.

I stamped the sentiment from the Amazing Life stamp set in Versamark ink, added Whisper White embossing powder and heat set it. This was added to the card front with liquid adhesive and some basic rhinestones were then added to complete the card.

Love this colour combo, such a pretty card. I am delighted to say I won this challenge!!
