Spider Plant from the Sitting Pretty stamps set

Pretty Spider Plant from the Sitting Pretty stamp set

I have made such a sweet card today using the Sitting Pretty stamp set and the lovely spider plant image. I remember these plants so well from my student days………they were the only ones I never managed to kil! Unfortunately I have not been blest with green fingers so I had best stick to stamping my plants.

Making the Spider Plant card

I began by stamping the outline image in Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto a panel of Whisper White cardstock 4” by 2⅝”. I stamped the pot in Poppy Parade ink and the spider plant in Granny Apple Green ink, I love this colour combination. I stamped the sweet sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set in Granny Apple Green ink. I rounded the upper right corner with the Detailed Trio Punch and added the stamped panel to a layer of Poppy Parade card with a rounded upper right corner.

I ran a panel of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅜” by 3 ⅝” through my Big Shot with the Striped Scalloped Embossing Folder – I love this embossing folder. I added the embossed panel to a Thick Whisper White card base with Multipurpose adhesive then added the stamped panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I felt something was missing and after trying a couple of things I decided to add 2 small flags in Granny Apple Green and Poppy Parade cardstock to the upper left side of the raised panel.

I love the simplicity of this card. I hope you like it.

Sitting Pretty for a simple thinking of you card

Today I have been making a simple thinking of you card using the Sitting Pretty stamp set and my Stamparatus.

Ink to Block Technique

I began by taking a large acrylic block, size E. I added Granny Apple Green ink  by pressing the ink pad directly to the top of the block. I added Balmy Blue ink to the bottom of the block then spritzed the block using a Stampin’ Spritzer filled with water: I find 3 – 4 sprays works best. You need the ink to be moving and blending on the block. Turn the block over and place it down on the Thick Whisper White card front and leave for a couple of minutes for the ink to be absorbed onto the card. Lift the block off and dab up any excess water. Set aside to dry.

When the card base was dry I placed it into the Stamparatus and held it in position with a magnet. I inked up the gorgeous decorative bench from the Sitting Pretty stamp set with Momento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped it down. I repeated this twice more to get a really dark image.

I added the sentiment form the Sitting Here stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and added some Faceted Dots to finish the card.

Such a simple but effective card and I love the fact that every time you try this background technique you get a different look. Love it! I really hope you like it.
