The baby wipe technique used to make a floral get well card

Beautiful Promenade/Baby wipe technique reprised

Here is another card made using the gorgeous Beautiful Promenade stamp set and the same handmade ink pad that I used for the blog hop earlier this week. I couldn’t help but try out another couple of things while the ink was still fresh.

To recreate the Beautiful Promenade card

Crumb Cake card base – 8½” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper left corner
Gorgeous Grape 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper left corner
Very Vanilla 5⅜” by 3⅝” x 2 – 1 for the inside and 1 for the outside – rounded upper left corners
Scrap Very Vanilla
Scrap Granny Apple Green

I made my own ink pad by folding a single baby wipe into a square and placing it in an empty clear mount stamp case. I took the Daffodil Delight re-inker and dropped about 12 – 15 drops randomly onto the baby wipe. I repeated this with the Poppy Parade re-inker and finally with Gorgeous Grape re-inker. The dots of ink should spread and merge together with no un-inked areas.

The baby wipe technique used to make a floral get well card

www.crafty-rootes.com -Beautiful Promenade stamp set and the baby wipe technique part 2

I stamped the outline of the flowers in Poppy Parade ink and Gorgeous Grape ink onto the scrap Very Vanilla cardstock.  I inked up the stripey inner portion of the flower on my homemade ink pad and stamped to fill in each flower. The flowers were then die cut using the Beautiful Layers dies and my Big Shot. Using the Leaf Punch I punched some leaves from the Granny Apple Green scrap cardstock.

The flowers were placed on one of the Very Vanilla panels and the leaves were tucked  behind the flowers with a dab of Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The flowers were then added over the top on Dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment from the Well Said stamp set in Gorgeous Grape ink onto the panel but messed it up and ended up stamping it on a scrap of Very Vanilla and gluing it over the top of the mess. Don’t you hate it when you do that!!!

The decorated panel was then added to the Gorgeous Grape panel with the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive then glued to the Crumb Cake card base. I added a trio of the Glitter Enamel Dots to complete the card front.

I had an extra stamped and die cut flower which I cut in half and added one half to the inner Very Vanilla panel and the other half to the Very Vanilla envelope.

I really love this technique. Hope you like the card.

I chose the Bloom by Bloom stamp set to make my birthday card. I love the1960’s -70’s vibe of this stamp set but have been desperate to try it with more fresh ‘Spring’ colours and as I had some ¼” strips of Granny Apple Green, So Saffron and Flirty Flamingo cardstock left from another project and decided to use these as my jumping off point.

I adhered a ¼” strip of Granny Apple Green, So Saffron and Flirty Flamingo cardstock to the Whisper White layer and trimmed them to fit using my scissors. This panel was then added to the layer of Flirty Flamingo cardstock before adding the whole piece to the front of a So saffron card base.

I laid the stamped piece onto the card front and felt it needed a little something extra. After a bit of thought I stamped a scatter of tiny flowers from the stamp set in Flirty Flamingo ink.

The rectangle panel was then added to the card front on Dimensionals and a scattering of Share What You Love Artisan Pearls added a little hint of luxury.

A lovely floral card for the CAS Colour & Sketches #309 colour challenge using the Painted Seasons stamp set

CAS Colours & Sketches #309 – Painted Seasons

Today I am sharing a sweet card made for the CAS Colours and Sketches #309 Challenge. I used the gorgeous Painted Seasons stamp set, can’t seem to get enough of this set at the moment. The challenge this time asked us to create a project using Daffodil Delight, So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz inks.

Making the CAS Colours & Sketches card

I began with a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” and randomly stamped the 2 flowers, 1 in Daffodil Delight and the other in So Saffron ink. I then stamped 2 of the leaf images in 1st or 2nd generation Pear Pizzazz ink. The small cluster of stars were then randomly added in So Saffron ink. Basically I used the stamps to make my own dsp.

Using my Bigshot and the Doily Builder dies I cut out the ring doily from Whisper White cardstock. I only wanted the centre piece and added the detailed ring to my stash. I stamped the sentiment from the Forever lovely stamp set onto the centre die cut in Pear Pizzazz ink. I added a portion of one of the large flowers at the bottom of the die cut using Daffodil Delight ink. The piece was then mounted using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive, onto a Basic Gray circle, cut using the Layering Circle dies. The sentiment was then added over the ribbon on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

A floral card made using the Four-Petal Punch and the Bitty Blooms Punch Pack

Garden Path for the GDP #175

Today I am sharing a card I made for the Global Design Project #175 the theme being ‘down the garden path’.  I also used the card as my swap for a training event I am at today, I chose to make my swaps using flower and leaf punches.

Making the card

I started by stamping the 2 large flowers from the Pop of Petals stamp set onto scrap Whisper White cardstock using Lovely Lipstick ink. I die cut the adorable doily ring from the Doily Builder set of dies using Whisper White cardstock and adhered it to a panel of Whisper White cardstock (measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝”) using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Next I punched out small flowers using some of the punches from the Bitty Blooms Punch Pack. I used Flirty Flamingo and Night of Navy cardstock. I added the small circular centres punched using the same set of punches in either Night of Navy or Daffodil Delight cardstock. I also punched out a couple of the foliage sprigs using the Sprig Punch.

I added the leaf sprigs to the doily ring with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and added the large Lovely Lipstick flowers with Mini Glue Dots. The smaller flowers were then added around the larger flowers with Mini Glue dots.

A floral card made using the Four-Petal Punch and the Bitty Blooms Punch Pack

I added Clear Faceted Gems to the centre of the larger flowers and added Clear Wink of Stella to the centres of the smaller flowers. To finish the panel I rounded the upper left hand corner. The decorated panel was added to a Night of Navy layer and added the whole piece to a Lovely Lipstick card base.
