A pretty birthday cake, themed column card made using the Wildflower Birthday designer series paper from Stampin' Up!

Cake Themed Column Card

Here is a pretty cake themed birthday card using a card base left over from my January classes and some of the gorgeous Wildflower Birthday Specialty Paper.

Colours in the cake themed column card are:

To recreate the cake themed column card, you will need:

Berry Burst card base – 8¼” by 5¾” – scored on the long side at 2”, 4”, 6” & 8”
Basic White card – 5⅝” by 1⅞” x 4
Wildflower Birthday dsp – 5½” by 1¾” x 4
Bubble bath card – 4¾” by 3¼”
Bubble Bath card – 4½” by 3”
Basic white card – 4½” by 3”
Basic White card – 3¾” by 2¼”
Berry Burst card – 1⅞” by ⅜”
Bubble Bath card – 1” by ½” – scored at ½” on the long side x 6

The 4 panels of Wildflower Birthday dsp were glued to the 4 Basic White panels measuring 5⅝” by 1⅞”. These are then glued to the spaces between the scorelines of the Berry Burst card base.

I folded and burnished on all the scorelines of the Berry Burst card base, added Tear ‘n Tape to the ¼” tab and folded the card panels to close the card.

Using the Countryside Corner Dies I die cut labels from the two pieces of Bubble Bath card , one larger than the other and 1 from the piece of Basic White card. A smaller label was die cut using the same set of dies from the smallest piece of Basic White card.

A birthday cake image, from the Wildflower Birthday dsp was adhered to the larger basic White label. I glued the label to the largest Bubble Bath label, decided it was too large and so trimmed it down with Scissors.

The smaller White label was glued to the remaining Bubble Bath label and a small floral piece from the dsp was added to decorate.

With the seam at the back in the middle, and glue two of the Bubble Bath tabs on either side of the centre scoreline with the fold facing, but not right up against the scoreline and about an inch apart. Add two more opposite the two already in position on the other side of the scoreline. Add glue to the top of these tabs and place the label, decorated with the cake image on top. Hold in place until the glue has bonded. Repeat this for the smaller back panel using one tab on either side of the seamed scoreline. Add the smaller label.

Stamp the sentiment in Versamark ink onto the strip of Berry Burst card, cover it with White Embossing Powder and set with my Heat Tool. I added it to the card front.

Seagull Step card – Stamping With Friends Blog Hop

Stamping with Friends Blog Hop – 1

Hello and welcome to the Stamping With Friends Blog Hop where we are sharing step cards. I have used the Friendly Seagulls stamp set – can’t seem to get enough of this set, to make my card. This card was inspired by Teri Pocock

Colours used in this card are:

To recreate the seagull step card, you will need:

Thick Basic White card – 8¼” by 5½”
Bloom Impressions dsp – 5⅜” by 4⅛”
Pebbled Path card – 3⅛” by 2 ½”
Basic White card – 3” by 2⅜”
Basic White card – 2½” by ½”
Scrap Basic White card

With the short side of the Thick Basic White card at the top and the left side lined up at 2 ¾” I cut a slit from 1¾” to 7½” – down the centre of the card.

A seagull step card made using the adorable Friendly Seagulls stamp set for the Stamping With Friends Blog Hop

www.crafty-rootes.com – The adorable Friendly Seagulls stamp set used to make a seagull step card for the Stamping With Friends Blog Hop

I wanted my ‘steps’ on the left side of the card to accommodate the birds who are looking right I adapted Teri’s scoring instructions. With the long side of the card base at the bottom of my Trimmer I scored, up to the central cut, at 1¾”, 3½”, 5, 6½” & 7½”. Rotating the base to the opposite long side I scored at 4¼”. I folded the single central fold inwards. The folds on the right side were then folded in concertina fashion.

Placing the long side of the Bloom Impressions dsp on my Trimmer I cut down from the top to ⅞”, turned the panel to the short side and cut at ⅞” to the meet the other cut. The excess panel was removed and 2 pieces cut from it at 2⅝” by 1⅜” and 2⅝” by 1⅝”. All 3 panels of dsp were then adhered to the Thick Basic White card front.

The chip stealing seagull was stamped onto the 3” by 2⅜” piece of Basic White card in Pebbled Path ink. I added the ‘sand’ across the bottom and the birds in flight at the top using the same ink. A Blending Brush was used to add Azure Afternoon ink around the top and sides of the panel. The bird was coloured with dark Daffodil Delight and light and dark Smoky Slate Blends Pens. The chips were coloured with light Crumb Cake and light Lemon Lolly Blends Pens, the light Lemon Lolly was also used to add colour to the sand. The whole panel was glued to the Pebbled Path layer and the whole piece was glued to the card front.

Mixed Media CASE’d card – CASE A Friend Blog Hop

Hello and welcome to the CASE a Friend Blog Hop. CASE means ‘copy and share everything’ or ‘copy and selectively edit’ and I have chosen the second option and a card designed by Karen Ksenzakovic of creativestampingdesigns.com,  I also used a stamp set which will be available from the 7th January 2025 from my online store called Mixed Media.
