Alcohol inked Vellum used to make stunning cards using the Artistically Inked stamp set and Artistic Dies by Stampin' Up! products

Artistically Inked Class

For this month’s classes we have been playing with Blends Markers and Alcohol using the Artistically Inked stamp set and co-ordinating Artistic Dies. This card was designed to show the versatility of the Blends Alcohol Markers.

Colours used in these projects are:

Adding Alcohol Ink to Vellum

To use on 2 of the cards you will need ½ a sheet of Vellum card which will be cut down and/or die cut into after being inked and allowed to dry

We began the class by creating the inked Vellum sheet. We used the dark Magenta Madness, Dark Pumpkin Pie and Dark Daffodil Delight Blends Markers to scribble blocks of colour all over the Vellum taking care not to overlap the colours which would contaminate the lighter colour nibs.

Adding vibrant colour to Vellum using Blends Alcohol Markers by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – Inking Vellum technique using Blends Alcohol Markers from Stampin’ Up!

We then, using a pipette dropped small dots of alcohol all over the Vellum allowing the ink to start spreading. Smaller drops were added with a paintbrush and some people blurred the lines between colours with a paintbrush. Some chose a more subtle blending by spraying the alcohol on with a Spritzer, allowing the colours to run.

The Vellum piece was then set aside to dry while we got on with making the first card.

To recreate the Single Flower card, you will need:

Magenta Madness card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper left corner
Daffodil Delight card – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper left corner
Basic White card – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper left corner
Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper left corner – for the inside
Scrap Basic White card

Gorgeous floral card made using the Artistically Inked stamp set by Stampin' Up! and an alcohol ink to stamp technique

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – Alcohol inking direct to stamps using Blends Alcohol Markers from Stampin’ Up!

Taking the largest flower from the stunning Artistically Inked stamp set, we added ink directly to the stamp using the dark Magenta Madness Blends Marker. The inked stamp was then misted with alcohol using a Stampin’ Spritzer and stamped down onto the Basic White panel.

The double leaf image was inked in the same way with the Just Jade Blends Marker and spritzed before stamping beside the flower.

The flower centre was stamped in Bumblebee ink onto scrap Basic White card and die cut using the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. It was added to the centre of the flower on a Dimensional.

We added the sentiment from the same stamp set in Bumblebee ink before gluing the stamped layer to the Daffodil Delight panel. This was then added to the Magenta Madness card front on Dimensionals.

Using the dark Just Jade Blends Marker we coloured 3 Basic Pearls and added them to the card front.

Using a 2-way glue pen we drew stripes onto the pink flower, radiating out from the centre and rubbed on some Gold Gilding Flakes for a little sparkle

To recreate the intricate flowers and leaves card, you will need

Thick Basic White card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Pumpkin Pie card – 5⅝” by 3⅞”
Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾”
Vellum card – see note below
Basic Black card – 4¼” by 4”

An alcohol ink technique used to create a sunning background for an intrictate die cut flowers and leaves card

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – A beautiful card made using the Artistic Dies and a panel of alcohol inked Vellum made using the Stampin’ Blends Markers

We cut the inked vellum panel down to 5½” by 3¾” and squeezed out some liquid adhesive onto a Silicon mat and using a sponge, spread the glue lightly over the back of the Vellum before sticking it down to the Basic White panel. The white background really makes the colours shine.

This layer was then added with liquid glue to the Pumpkin Pie panel and then added to the Thick Basic White card front on Dimensionals.

Using the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine we die cut the gorgeous intricate flowers and leaves from the panel of Basic Black card and added it to the card front using the glue on a sponge technique.

The sentiment from was stamped in Versamark ink onto scrap Basic Black card, covered by White Embossing Powder and set using a Heat Tool. When the embossing was dry, we coloured it using the Magenta Madness and Daffodil Delight Blends markers.

The sentiment was trimmed out and the ends flagged before it was added to the card front on Dimensionals. So pretty.

To recreate the spray of leaves card, you will need

Thick Basic White card – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper right corner
Magenta Madness card – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper right corner
Basic White card 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper right corner
Vellum – see note
Magenta Madness – 3¾” by ¼”

Alcohol inked Vellum used to die cut stunning delicate leaves for a pretty card using Stampin' Up! products

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – Alcohol inked Vellum used to die cut stunning delicate leaves for a pretty card using Stampin’ Up! products

From the left-over panel of inked Vellum we die cut the intricate leaves and added them suing the glue on a sponge technique to the panel of Basic White. This was then added to the Magenta Madness layer using the liquid glue.

The strip of Magenta Madness card was then added with liquid glue to the bottom for the die cut leaves. The whole piece was the added to the Thick Basic White card front with liquid glue.

The sentiment was stamped in Magenta Madness ink onto scrap Basic White, punched out using the Double Oval Punch and glued it to the Daffodil Delight scalloped oval punched out using the same punch. It was added to the card front on Dimensionals.

Using the dark Magenta Madness Blends Marker we coloured in a piece of White Crinkled Seam Binding Ribbon, tied a bow and added it to the card front. We also coloured a trio of Basic Pearls with the same pink Blends Marker and added then to the card front.

Such striking cards, I hope you like them.

A lovely girlie birthday card made using the Piece of Cke stamp set by STampin' Up!

Piece of Cake for GDP #179 challenge

Today I am sharing a cute card made for a friends’ birthday using the Piece of Cake stamp set and lovely girlie colours. Luckily this card works really well with this weeks’ GDP #179 challenge the theme of which is ‘sweeter than candy’.

Making the Card

I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅞” by 2” and stamped 3 of the cute cake images randomly up the panel using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I coloured in the images using my Flirty Flamingo, So Saffron and Grapefruit Grove Markers.

A masculine birthday card made using the Nothing Sweeter stamp set by Stampin' Up!

A Nothing Sweeter Masculine Birthday card

Today I made a birthday card for my brother in law using the fantastic Nothing Sweeter stamp set. I used this set last week to make some Christmas cards and I love that this stamp set can be used for so much more than Christmas.

Nothing Sweeter Birthday Card

I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝”. Using the Sweetly Stitched Framelit dies and my Big Shot I chose the zigzag stitched edgelit and embossed it twice along the bottom of the panel to add some texture.

A masculine birthday card made using the Nothing Sweeter stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Nothing Sweeter for a masculine birthday card

Next I stamped the parcels onto some scrap Whisper White cardstock  in Blueberry Bushel, Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green inks. The outer part of the parcel was stamped in full strength, 1st generation ink. The inner parcel was stamped in 2nd generation ink, ie stamped off once to give a lighter shade. The stripes were added in the 1st generation ink. The parcels were then die cut using the Sweetly Stitched dies and the Big Shot.

I wrapped a length of ⅛” Blueberry Bushel Grosgrain Ribbon and wrapped it around the embossed panel above the zigzag stitched lines and tied it in a knot. The layer was added to a Granny Apple Green layer measuring 5½” by 3¾”with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. This panel was then added to a Blueberry Bushel card base with the same glue.

The die cut parcels were then added to the card front, the Blueberry Bushel and Bermuda Bay parcels with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and the Granny Apple Green parcel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment from the Hand Delivered stamp set was stamped in Bermuda Bay ink onto a ⅜ strip of Whisper White which was trimmed to fit and added with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I love the look of this card and the colour combo works so well.

A sweet birthday card made using the Daisy Punch and the Delightfully Detailed dsp by Stampin' Up!

Delightfully Detailed Daisy

Today I am sharing the sweet card I made earlier this month for a customer’s birthday using the Daisy Punch and a piece of the gorgeous Delightfully Detailed designer series paper (dsp).

Making the Daisy Card

I started by taking a piece of Highland Heather cardstock 5½” by 3¾” and punching 2 daisies from the centre using the Daisy Punch making sure to stay away from the edges. I then took a piece of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” and adhering it to the piece of Highland Heather cardstock using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I then inserted the whole panel into the 2¼” Circle Punch and punched a hole.

A sweet birthday card made using the Daisy Punch and the Delightfully Detailed dsp by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com -deightfully delighted daisy birthday card

I cut a small piece of the stunning Delightfully Detailed dsp, just enough to place behind the punched circle. I glued the dsp to the front of a Soft Sea Foam after marking where it would show in the circle. I used little dabs of Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to secure the dsp. The punched panel was then added to the card front on Stampin Dimensionals.

Bubble Over stamp set for a masculine card

Bubble Over Masculine card

Today I have making a masculine card using the Bubble Over stamp set, an old favourite of mine for this type of card.

Making the Bubble Over card

I began by placing a 4⅛” by 2¾” piece of Whisper White into my Stamparatus, inked up my Buffalo Check stamp with Poppy Parade ink and stamped down then set the stamped piece to one side to dry.

I took a Gray Granite card base – love this colour – and stamped the bubble image in Gray Granite ink across two thirds of the card front starting on the left hand side. I then added the Poppy Parade checked piece to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I stamped the large bottle from the Bubble Over Stamp set in Gray Granite ink onto a crap of Whisper White cardstock and die cut it out using my Big Shot and the co-ordinating Bottles & Bubbles dies. I die cut the largest bottle label from a small scrap of Whisper White cardstock and stamped the sentiment in Poppy Parade ink before adding it to the die cut bottle with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The bottle was added to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Wonderful Moments stamp set by Stampin' Up! makes a sweet birthday card using the lady with balloons image.

Wonderful Moments

Today I have been using the lady with balloons from the lovely Wonderful Moments stamp set to create a lovely birthday card.

Making the Wonderful Moments Lady with Balloons card

I began by stamping the pretty lady onto a panel of Whisper White cardstock 4½” by 3” using Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I chose this ink as I knew I wanted to colour the image in with Stampin’ Blends. I stamped the balloons in the same ink.

Using the light & dark Rich Razzelberry Stampin’ Blends I coloured in the lady’s dress, her hair and shoes were coloured in using the light & dark Crumb Cake and her skin is Ivory. I coloured in the balloons using the light & dark Bermuda Bay, Daffodil Delight and Cherry Cobbler Stampin’ Blends. The image was ‘grounded’ using the light & dark Crumb Cake Blends.

The sentiment from the Hand Delivered stamp set was stamped in Rich Razzelberry ink. I used the Detailed Trio Punch to round the upper left corner of the stamped panel and added it to a Basic Black layer 4⅝” by 3⅛” with a rounded corner.
