This is a quick birthday card made for the son of a friend using the Picture Perfect stamp set which will be retiring from the catalogue from June 4th. This is a great stamp set for new stampers with lots of lovely sentiments and simple 2 stamping images.
To recreate the Picture Perfect card you will need;
Thick Whisper White card base 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored and folded at 4⅛” Gingham Gala dsp 5⅞” by 3½” Blueberry Bushel 2⅝” by 2⅜” Granny Apple Green, Grapefruit Grove, Blueberry Bushel strips 4” by ⅜” Scrap Whisper White

Using a scrap of Whisper White cardstock I stamped the candles. I find it easier to line up the stamps if I start with the patterned stamp. I stamped the striped candle in Granny Apple Green ink. The spotted candle was stamped with Blueberry Bushel ink and the second striped candle in Calypso Coral ink. I then added the solid background layer to the candles in 2nd generation Lemon Lime Twist ink, 2nd generation Balmy Blue ink and 2nd generation Grapefruit Grove ink. The flames were stamped in Mango Melody ink.

I stamped the sentiment below the candles in Blueberry Bushel ink.
www.crafty-rootes.com – A clean and simple card made using the Picture Perfect stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
Using one of the Rectangle Stitched dies and my Big Shot I cut out the stamped image. The rectangle was actually too long so I moved the die to shorten the rectangle and ran it back through the Big Shot. I the cut the Blueberry Bushel panel ⅛” bigger on all sides using my Trimmer. These were adhered together with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
www.crafty-rootes.com – A clean and simple card made using the Picture Perfect stamp set by Stampin’ Up!
I glued the Granny Apple Green, Grapefruit Grove, Blueberry Bushel strips to the card front and added the candle piece overtop on Dimensionals. The card was finished by adding a trio of Gingham Gala Sequins.
I stamped the candle inside the card and on the front of the envelope.
Such a simple card but so effective. I do hope you like it.

Today I am sharing a card made for the Global Design Project Challenge #188 – CASEing the designer – in this case the super talented Brian King. To make the card I used the Make & Take supplies from the recent OnStage. I am always too busy chatting to make up the projects on the day…….. ho hum..
To recreate the Bird Ballard card
Pool Party card base 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored and folded at 4⅛” Pool Party cardstock 5½” by 3¾” Whisper White 5½” by 3 ¾” – for the inside Whisper White 4¼” by 2½” Bird Ballard dsp 4” by 3” Scrap Poppy Parade for die cutting Scrap Whisper White for the sentiment
I had stamped the bough of birds in memento Tuxedo Black ink whilst at OnStage; I love this image and can’t wait for my stamp set to arrive. I coloured the image in using the following Blends – Crumb Cake combo, Old Olive combo, Poppy Parade combo, Daffodil Delight combo and the Colour Lifter.
www.crafty-rootes.com -Free as a bird stamp set by Stampin’ Up! used for a sweet birthday card
I ran the Pool Party panel through the Big Shot using the Layered Leaves Embossing Folder and glued it to the Pool Party card base with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I ran a strip of Snail in the centre of the embossed panel and added the strip of Vanilla Lace.

The stamped and coloured piece was adhered to the dsp layer with the Liquid Adhesive and mounted it onto the card front with Dimensionals.
www.crafty-rootes.com -Free as a bird stamp set by Stampin’ Up! used for a sweet birthday card
I die cut the word ‘wishes’ from the Well Written set of dies three times from scrap Poppy Parade cardstock and glued them one on top of the other to give some dimension to the sentiment. The dies cut piece was then added to the card front with same liquid adhesive.
www.crafty-rootes.com -Free as a bird stamp set by Stampin’ Up! used for a sweet birthday card
The word ‘birthday’ was stamped in Old Olive ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock. The piece was then cut down and one end flagged. It was glued onto the card front with the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Today I am sharing a sweet monochromatic card made for the latest Inspire Create #40 Challenge. It is a colour challenge this time and the colours are Black and White.
Making the monochromatic card
You will need; Thick Whisper White card base – rounded upper right corner Basic Black – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper right corner Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper right corner Basic Black – 3⅝” by 1⅝” Whisper White – 3⅝” by 1½”
I began by masking off a 1½” strip of the larger Whisper White panel using a Post It note.
www.crafty-rootes.com – a sophisticated card made using the Bloom by Bloom stamp set for the Inspire Create #40 Challenge
I randomly stamped a variety of the flowers and leaf images from the Bloom by Bloom stamp set in Memento Tuxedo Black ink above and below the masked area taking care to overlap the masked area. I rounded the upper right corner of the stamped panel and added it to the Basic Black layer with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
www.crafty-rootes.com – a sophisticated card made using the Bloom by Bloom stamp set for the Inspire Create #40 Challenge
I placed the small Whisper White strip into the Stamparatus and positioned the sentiment stamp, from the Blow Out The Candles stamp set. I picked the stamp up with one of the plates.
www.crafty-rootes.com – a sophisticated card made using the Bloom by Bloom stamp set for the Inspire Create #40 Challenge
The stamp was then inked up using the Memento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped down on the panel of white cardstock. I repeated this step twice to get a good dark image. I stamped a couple of the small flowers either side of the sentiment.
www.crafty-rootes.com – a sophisticated card made using the Bloom by Bloom stamp set for the Inspire Create #40 Challenge
This panel was then added to the remaining panel of Basic Black cardstock with the same glue and added to the card front with Dimensionals. The whole panel was then added to the Thick Whisper White card base using the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
www.crafty-rootes.com – a sophisticated card made using the Bloom by Bloom stamp set for the Inspire Create #40 Challenge
I stamped a couple of the images inside the card and on the envelope and added a scattering of Rhinestones to the front of the card
I am really happy with how this monochromatic card turned out. I hope you like it.

www.crafty-rootes.com – A birthday card made using the Bloom by Bloom stamp set for the Stampers Showcase blog hop
I chose the Bloom by Bloom stamp set to make my birthday card. I love the1960’s -70’s vibe of this stamp set but have been desperate to try it with more fresh ‘Spring’ colours and as I had some ¼” strips of Granny Apple Green, So Saffron and Flirty Flamingo cardstock left from another project and decided to use these as my jumping off point.
www.crafty-rootes.com – A birthday card made using the Bloom by Bloom stamp set for the Stampers Showcase blog hop
I stamped the stem and leaf in Granny Apple Green onto a Whisper White Stitched Rectangle. The flower was added in Flirty Flamingo ink and the dots were stamped in So saffron ink. The stamped rectangle was added to the layer of Granny Apple Green cardstock with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
www.crafty-rootes.com – A birthday card made using the Bloom by Bloom stamp set for the Stampers Showcase blog hop
I adhered a ¼” strip of Granny Apple Green, So Saffron and Flirty Flamingo cardstock to the Whisper White layer and trimmed them to fit using my scissors. This panel was then added to the layer of Flirty Flamingo cardstock before adding the whole piece to the front of a So saffron card base.
www.crafty-rootes.com – A birthday card made using the Bloom by Bloom stamp set for the Stampers Showcase blog hop
I laid the stamped piece onto the card front and felt it needed a little something extra. After a bit of thought I stamped a scatter of tiny flowers from the stamp set in Flirty Flamingo ink.
The rectangle panel was then added to the card front on Dimensionals and a scattering of Share What You Love Artisan Pearls added a little hint of luxury.
www.crafty-rootes.com – A birthday card made using the Bloom by Bloom stamp set for the Stampers Showcase blog hop
The tiny flowers were stamped on the envelope and the inside Whisper White panel and glued inside the card.
I love the fresh colour combo. I hope you like it.
Please hop on and see what loveliness Leonie Stuart has to share with us

Today I am sharing the projects made at this week’s March classes where we focused on the gorgeous Piece of Cake stamp set and Cake Builder Bundle.
Joy Fold card
www.crafty-rootes.com – Piece of Cake stamp set and Cake Builder Punch used for March Classes
Thick Whisper White cardstock 8½” by 4¼” and scored it on the long side at 5½” Thick Whisper White cardstock 8” by 3” and scored it on the long side at 4” Call Me Clover cardstock 5⅜” by 4⅛” Early Espresso piece 4⅛” by 2⅞” Call Me Clover 3⅞” by 2⅞” Whisper White cardstock 3¼” by 2¾”
We began by folding and burnishing the score lines. Next step was to randomly stamp the ‘dotty cake’ on a piece of Call Me Clover cardstock 5⅜” by 4⅛” in Call Me Clover ink. This layer was then added to the back panel of the larger scored panel. The Early Espresso piece was then added to the smaller panel of the same piece of Thick Whisper White. Both these panels were added with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
The sentiment from the Amazing Life stamp set was stamped in Early Espresso ink onto the small piece of Whisper White. The word ‘CAKE’ was coloured in using the Light Call Me Clover Blends pen.
The cake was stamped in Early Espresso onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and the cake stand was stamped in the same ink onto scrap Call Me Clover cardstock. Both were then punched out using the co-ordinating Cake Builder Punch. The cake was coloured in using the following Blends Pens – Call Me Clover Combo, Lovely Lipstick combo, Balmy Blue combo and Bronze.
We used a Dimensional on the back to attach the cake to the cake stand and added a couple more dimensionals to hold the cake up before adding it to the stamped panel of Whisper White cardstock. This panel was then glued to the smaller layer of Call Me Clover before it was added to the small folded panel of Thick Whisper White being careful to have the fold the right way round…………
We stamped the candles in Call Me Clover ink onto the inner panel adding the sentiment in Early Espresso ink below the candles. Lastly we coloured in some of the Basic Pearls using the Blends pens and added them to the card front.
This card has a more masculine look which I really liked.

We randomly stamped the sentiment in 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation Lovely Lipstick ink down the left side of one of the large Whisper White panels. This panel was then added to the Early Espresso layer with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and then glued to the Lovely Lipstick card base.
We stamped the cake onto the scrap Whisper White cardstock and punched it out using the Cake Builder Punch. The cake stand was punched from some of the gorgeous Lovely Lipstick Foil. We used the Blends pens to colour in the cake. We adhered them together with Dimensionals in the same way as the first card.
The cake was added to the stitched white rectangle, then to the stitched Early Espresso rectangle. We added the whole piece to the card front with the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The Basic Pearls were then coloured in and added to the card front.

Today I am sharing a card I designed for the Global Design Project #176 – CASE the Designer Challenge. I loved the rainbow colours in Steffi’s beautiful card and made that my starting point.
Making the card
I began by choosing the image I wanted to use. It had to be fairly small and ideally a fairly open image. In the end I went for the sweet little flower stamp in the Amazing Life stamp set.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Amazing Life stamp set used for the Global Design Project #176 CASE the designer challenge
Next I looked at colours; I knew I wanted a rainbow to mimic Steffi’s card and tried out a few variations of colour before settling for – Berry Burst, Real Red, Daffodil Delight, Grapefruit Grove, Granny Apple Green, Blueberry Bushel and Gorgeous Grape – in hind sight I should have gone for Lovelly Lipstick as my first colour but completely forgot about it……..it’s been that kind of day.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Amazing Life stamp set used for the Global Design Project #176 CASE the designer challenge
After stamping the flower in each of the colours onto a panel of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5¼” by 3½” I rounded the upper left corner with my Detailed Trio Punch. I added a layer of Basic Gray layer 5⅜” by 3⅝” behind the Whisper White panel having rounded the same corner and using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Amazing Life stamp set used for the Global Design Project #176 CASE the designer challenge
I added the whole stamped panel to the front of a Granny Apple Green card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment from the same stamp set was stamped in Basic Gray on a scrap of Whisper White cardstock ⅜” wide. This was then trimmed down and one end flagged using my scissors. I added the sentiment to a scrap of Granny Apple Green ½” wide and trimmed to fit. This was added to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Amazing Life stamp set used for the Global Design Project #176 CASE the designer challenge
I stamped the flower again in Grapefruit Grove onto a panel of Whisper White 5⅜” by 3⅝” which was them glued inside the card. The same image was then stamped in the same colour onto a Whisper White envelope. To complete the card I added a few of the gorgeous Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots.

Today I am sharing a sweet card made for the Freshly Made Sketches #374 Challenge using the colours for the CAS Colours & Sketches #307 challenge. I chose to use the lovely bokeh dots from the Beauty Abounds stamp set paired with the small butterflies from the Butterfly Gala stamp set.
Making the card
www.crafty-rootes.com – Beauty Abounds and Butterfly Gala used for the Freshly Made Sketches #374 challenge and the CAS Colours & Sketches #307 challenge
I started with a panel of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝”. I stamped the larger and smaller bokeh dot images up the right hand side of the panel in 1st and 2nd generation Lovely Lipstick ink and Powder Pink ink. I just love these dots, they are so, so versatile and make great backgrounds.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Beauty Abounds and Butterfly Gala used for the Freshly Made Sketches #374 challenge and the CAS Colours & Sketches #307 challenge
I stamped the sentiment from the Itty Bitty Birthday stamp set in Gray Granite ink onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock. I punched this out using the Tailored Tag Punch. I also punched the same tag in Lovely Lipstick and Powder Pink cardstock. I cut each of the coloured tags across the middle from side to side and added them behind the Whisper White tag, allowing a little of each colour to show. The whole tag was then added to the stamped panel on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Beauty Abounds and Butterfly Gala used for the Freshly Made Sketches #374 challenge and the CAS Colours & Sketches #307 challenge
I rounded the upper right hand corner with the Detailed Trio Punch………….I know, I just can’t help myself! I adhered the stamped panel, using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive, to a layer of gray Granite cardstock 5½” by 3¾” with a rounded upper right corner. This was then added using the same adhesive to the front of a Lovely Lipstick card base.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Beauty Abounds and Butterfly Gala used for the Freshly Made Sketches #374 challenge and the CAS Colours & Sketches #307 challenge
I stamped 3 small butterflies from the Butterfly Gala stamp set in Gray Granite ink, punched them out using the Butterfly Duet Punch and added them to the Whisper White panel using Mini Glue Dots. To finish the front of the card I added some of the Happiness Blooms Enamel Dots in the Lovely Lipstick to the centre of each butterfly and scattered a few among the bokeh dots.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Beauty Abounds and Butterfly Gala used for the Freshly Made Sketches #374 challenge and the CAS Colours & Sketches #307 challenge
I stamped the large and small bokeh dots and the butterfly in the lower left hand corner of a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” and adhered this to the inside of the card using Multipurpose liquid Adhesive. The same stamps and colours were then used to decorate the front of the envelope.
I hope you like it.
Amazingly this card was chosen as a weekly winner of the CAS Colours & Sketches Challenge

Today I have had fun playing with the sweet new Sale-a-Bration stamp set called So Hoppy Together. This is gorgeous stamp set is one of the free choices available with a £45 order and there are so many lovely things on offer this year.
Making the card
I started by stamping the cute little frog in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto a 3” by 3” piece of Whisper White cardstock and die cut it using the Stitched Shapes Framelit dies. Whilst I had the Big Shot out I also cut a slightly larger scalloped circle die from Daffodil Delight cardstock.
ww.crafty-rootes.com – sweet birthday card made using the So Hoppy Together stamp set
I coloured in my frog using the Shaded Spruce Combo, Daffodil Delight Combo & Light Petal Pink Blends Pens. I stamped a few little flies at the top of the circle and added some googly eyes to the frog.
ww.crafty-rootes.com – sweet birthday card made using the So Hoppy Together stamp set
I chose a piece of Garden Impressions dsp, cut it at 5⅞” by 4⅛” and cut it on the diagonal. I added half of the dsp to a Thick Whisper White card base using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I added a ¼” strip of Pacific Point cardstock to the top of the dsp using the same glue.
ww.crafty-rootes.com – sweet birthday card made using the So Hoppy Together stamp set
The sentiment from the Family & Friends stamp set was stamped along the top of the Pacific Point cardstock in Pacific Point ink and added the circle topper on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
These little frogs are so adorable, I think this is going to be a really popular set.

Hello and welcome to December’s Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop where the theme this month is our favourite from the upcoming Spring/Summer catalogue. My name is Mo Rootes and I live near Cambridge in the UK. I have chosen to use the stunning stamp set called Bloom by Bloom to make my card. I love all the bold floral images in this set and chose to stamp with some bright Spring like colours.
Making the card
I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4⅞” by 3½”. I die cut a circle from the Layering Circles Framelit Dies, placed it on the Whisper White layer partially hanging off and lightly drew round it to help with the placement of the flowers.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Bloom By Bloom stamp set used for the December Stamp ‘N hop blog hop
I stamped the leaves and flowers starting with the largest images and ending with the smallest one which were used to infill. I used Flirty Flamingo, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, Coastal Cabana & Blueberry Bushel inks for the stamping. I added the stamped panel to a Flirty Flamingo panel 4” by 3⅝” having rounded the upper left corner of both panels. I erased the light pencil drawn circle.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Bloom By Bloom stamp set used for the December Stamp ‘N hop blog hop
I stamped the sentiment from the Amazing Life stamp set in Granny Apple Green onto the die cut Whisper White circle. I used a couple of the small flowers to decorate the circle before adding it to a slightly larger Blueberry Bushel scalloped circle die cut using the same die set. I trimmed off the right side of the circle with my Trimmer and added it to the stamped layer on Stampin’ Dimensionals.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Bloom By Bloom stamp set used for the December Stamp ‘N hop blog hop
I took a Thick Whisper White card base and placed a large scrap of Blueberry Bushel cardstock and tilted it at an angle until it looked right, I turned the card over and trimmed off the excess. The Blueberry Bushel was then added to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and the stamped panel added on top with the same glue. To finish off the card I added a scattering of Basic Rhinestones.
Such a pretty card, I am really happy with how it turned out. I hope you like it.

I have been playing with ideas for next year’s classes and came up with this one using the emboss resist technique and the gorgeous Butterfly Gala stamp set. It was the perfect card for the Inspire Create Challenge #032. This is a sketch challenge but the image shows only a blank page so we can submit anything at all for the challenge.
Making the card
I started with a panel of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅞” by 2⅛”. I ran over the panel with my embossing buddy to get rid of static and stamped one of the lovely double butterfly images randomly down the panel in Versamark ink. I covered the Versamark ink with White Embossing Powder and heat set it with my Heat Tool.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Butterfly Gala stamp set and embossed resist for a pretty birthday card
I inked up one of the sponge brayers with Lemon Lime Twist ink and inked up the bottom third of the stamped panel. I then added Balmy Blue ink to the middle of the panel and Highland Heather to the top of the panel making sure to blend the layers together. I wiped over the panel with some kitchen paper to remove the excess ink from the embossed butterflies and set the panel aside to dry. When dry I glued it to a 5⅞” by 2⅜”piece of Botanical Butterfly dsp.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Butterfly Gala stamp set and embossed resist for a pretty birthday card
Taking a Thick Whisper White card base I stamped the double butterfly down the card front in the same order of ink. The stamped and embossed panel was added with multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to the centre left of the card front with the stamped butterflies peeking out.
www.crafty-rootes.com – Butterfly Gala stamp set and embossed resist for a pretty birthday card
I stamped the sentiment from the Amazing Life stamp set in Versamark ink, added Whisper White embossing powder and heat set it. This was added to the card front with liquid adhesive and some basic rhinestones were then added to complete the card.
Love this colour combo, such a pretty card. I am delighted to say I won this challenge!!
