Today I have been trying out a technique that is new to me …….. and I LOVE it! I saw fellow demonstrator Tina Zinck demonstrate this on Youtube and couldn’t wait to try it. I use the Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder to make my card.
Colours in this project are:
To recreate the layered florals card, you will need:
Fresh Freesia card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” – scored at 4⅛”
Lemon Lolly card – 5⅝” by 3⅞”
Basic White card – 5½” by 3¾” x 2 – one for the inside
Scrap Basic White
I embossed one of the 5½” by 3¾” panels of Basic White card using the Layered Florals 3D Embossing Folder.
The embossed panel was then placed face down on my desk. I added colour to the petals of the larger flowers with Fresh Freesia ink. Tina used small Blending Brushes but I used Sponge Daubers and they seemed to work just as well.
The centres of the larger flowers were added with Daffodil Delight ink. The smaller flowers were inked with Lemon Lolly ink and all the leaves were coloured with Granny Apple Green ink.
I then repeatedly ran my Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad all over the reverse side of the embossed panel to build up the depth of colour. Love how the dark ink makes the bright colours pop out.
The inked panel was glued onto the Lemon Lolly panel and a length of Lemon Lolly Sheer Ribbon wrapped around it. The whole piece was then glued to the Fresh Freesia card base.
I stamped the sentiment, from the Something Fancy stamp set in Memento Basic Black ink onto scrap Basic White card and die cut it using the Everyday Details dies.
Using Lemon Lolly Baker’s Twine and an embroidery needle I stitched around the die cut circle. Annoyingly, I had smeared the the sentiment whilst stitching……..urghhh. After a lot of fiddling around, I stamped the sentiment again onto the scarp Basic White card and die cut it with the smallest circle dies from the same set. This was glued over the smeared ink and the stitching still looked great. Win, win.
A trio of adhesive backed Solid Gems finished the card.
