Floral Thank You card using the Touches of Texture stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Touches of Texture for a thank you card

Today I have been using the Touches of Texture stamp set to make a simple thank you card.

I began with a panel of Whisper White cardstock 4⅛” by 3⅛”, I corner rounded the upper right corner of the panel using the Detailed Trio Punch which will be available in my online store from the 1st June 2018. I then stamped the delicate floral spray in Crumb Cake ink.

I coloured in the image using the following Stampin’ Blends; Light Cherry Cobbler, Light & Dark Calypso Coral and Light Old Olive. I love the depth of colour the Blends give to a project. I backed the stamped panel onto a 4¼” by 3¼” layer of Pear Pizzazz cardstock using Tombow Liquid Adhesive, having rounded the upper right hand corner.

I added a strip of Fast Fuse adhesive to the back of the panel on the left  and added some Calypso Coral Shimmer Ribbon, ruching it up and sticking it down as I went.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Touches of Texture by Stampin’ Up!

I cut a 4” by 4” piece of Tutti-Frutti dsp using my Stampin’ Trimmer and cut it at a diagonal. I added a thin strip of Crumb Cake cardstock to the edge and adhered the piece to the front of a Whisper White card base using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The stamped panel was then added to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment from the Fabulous Flamingo stamp set in Pear Pizzazz ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and flagged the end. I added a small strip of dsp to the bottom of the sentiment and added it to the card front with Tombow. To complete the card I added some Subtles Enamel Dots. Such a sweet card.

Rows of wine glasses for a feminine birthday card

Half Full for a feminine birthday card

Today I have been playing with the Half Full stamp set. This lovely set carried over from the Autumn/Winter catalogue and although it does have a couple of Christmas sentiments it is so versatile and makes great masculine cards. Having said that today’s card is for a female friend of mine who is partial to the odd glass of white wine.

Stamping Instructions

I began with a panel of Whisper White cardstock 4¼” by 2⅞”. I placed the panel in the corner of my Stamparatus Stamp Positioning Tool and positioned stamp showing the ‘row of wine glasses’ onto the Whisper White panel at the top before closing the door plate to pick up the stamp.

Rows of wine glasses for a feminine birthday card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Half Full stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

Using Momento Tuxedo Black ink I inked up the stamp and closed the door plate to stamp the image. I moved the door plate down 1 hinge, inked the stamp up again and repeated. In total I stamped the image 4 times down the panel. I love the precision stamping you get using the hinge method and the Stamparatus.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Half Full stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

I removed the stamped panel of Whisper White from the Stamparatus and coloured in 1 glass in each row using the So Saffron Marker Pen. The panel was then added to a piece of Basic Black cardstock 4½” by 3⅛” using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

I stamped the sentiment from the In The City stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black in onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock 2” by 2” and punched it out using a 1¼” Circle Punch. I added it to a So Saffron circle punched with a 1½” Circle Punch using Tombow Liquid adhesive.

I added a loop of Black Shimmer Ribbon to the back of the sentiment using Fast Fuse Adhesive. The stamped panel was then added to a So Saffron card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals and the sentiment added in the lower right hand corner

Ladies crafting at a Stamp-a-Stack

Spring Stamp-a-Stack

Some of my lovely ladies and I spent yesterday crafting away at my Spring Stamp-a-Stack event whilst the sun beat down outside. This time their pack included the fabulous Tutti-Fruitti 6”x6” dsp stack and a pack of Glitter Enamel Dots. This dsp pack is so bright and cheerful……..perfect for those Spring/Summer days. I paired the paper up with some fun and playful stamp sets.

Gorgeous simple card using masking and an ombre ink effect with a tree

Rooted In Nature – Another Sneak Peek

Today I have had my first play with the new Rooted in Nature Stamp set which will be available in my online shop from the 1st June and I love it. I used it to make a simple thank you card for a friend.

Gorgeous simple card using masking and an ombre ink effect with a tree

www.crafty-rootes.com – Rooted-in-Nature-by-Stampin’-Up!

I took a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” and using Post It tape I masked off a rectangular area to the right of centre. I inked up a wedge of Stampin’ Sponge with Rich Razzelberry ink and applied it to the unmasked rectangle, starting at the bottom and letting the ink fade towards the top. I then peeled off the Post It tape to reveal the inked panel. I love the effect this gives.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Rooted-in-Nature-by-Stampin’-Up!

I inked up the gorgeous tall pine type tree with Early Espresso ink and stamped it partially over the inked rectangle. I love the stark look of this tree, the images are almost photographic. I added this stamped layer to a Thick Whisper White card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Rooted-in-Nature-by-Stampin’-Up!

I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock 4⅛” by ⅜” using the Early Espresso Ink pad. I added this stamped strip to a strip of Rich Razzelberry cardstock 4⅛” by ½“using Tombow liquid Adhesive and added it to the card front using Tombow.

This is such a simple card but so striking. I absolutely love this tree. Hope you like the card.

Painted Glass Coastal Cabana butterflies

Painted Glass Sneak Peek

Today I am sharing with you a sneak peek of some new product which will be available in the new 2018-2019 Annual Catalogue from the 1st June. The stamp set I am using today is called Painted Glass and is absolutely gorgeous, I especially love the really old fashioned manuscript style font.

Method

I began with a strip of Whisper White cardstock 5⅞” by 2¼”, inked up the delicate little butterfly stamp in Archival Basic Black ink and stamped it randomly down the entire strip. I then took my Coastal Cabana Marker…….yes y this gorgeous colour which was one of the 2013 – 2015 In Color‘s is now coming back into the Brights color family as part of Stampin’ Up!’s colour revamp . I was so happy when I found I still had the marker and a small amount of the cardstock in my collection. Anyway, I digress……I coloured in parts of each butterfly using the Coastal Cabana Marker.

Painted Glass Coastal Cabana butterflies

www.crafty-rootes.com – Painted Glass stamp set by Stampin’ Up! sneak peek

I added the stamped panel onto a layer of Basic Black cardstock 5⅞” by 2½” using Tombow Liquid Adhesive then adding the whole piece to the front of a Coastal Cabana card base again using Tombow.

Painted Glass Coastal Cabana butterflies

www.crafty-rootes.com – Painted Glass stamp set by Stampin’ Up! sneak peek

Taking another piece of Whisper White cardstock 5⅞” by 1” I stamped the beautiful sentiment in Archival Basic Black ink roughly in the centre of the piece then trimmed the cardstock, using my Stampin’ Trimmer, so that the sentiment would sit over the butterfly panel. The sentiment was then added to the card front with Stampin Dimensionals.

I stamped another butterfly onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and cut it out using Stampin’ Up!’s  really sharp Paper Snips. After colouring in part of the butterfly with my Coastal Cabana Marker I added some Basic Rhinestones to the butterfly body and added it to the card front with Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

Such a pretty card using one of our returning colours. Hope you like it.

Lovely As A Tree Stamp set by Stampin’ Up! used for a masculine birthday card

Lovely As A Tree – Stamp ‘N Hop

Stamp 'N Hop blog hop by Mo Rootes

Welcome to the April Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop and if you have hopped on from the lovely Danielle Kassing I am sure you have loved her crafty share as much as I have. The theme of this month’s blog hop is our favourite item from the current Annual catalogue.  So much choice, where to start…………… and that is exactly where I have started.

The first Stampin’ Up! item I ever bought was the gorgeous Lovely As a Tree Stamp set which has been a staple in the catalogue for many, many years. Before the launch of every catalogue I wonder if this is the year the stamp set will be retired from the catalogue, so far this hasn’t happened…..maybe this will be the year……

It is a fantastically versatile stamp set and I have used it for birthday cards, thank you cards, congratulations cards and Christmas cards. The trees and leaves in the set are beautifully drawn and a real pleasure to work with. For this blog hop I chose to re-work one of the first cards I made using this set, at the time I had no other Stampin’ Up! products so used cardstock and dsp from my stash.

Method used

Lovely As A Tree Stamp set by Stampin’ Up! used for a masculine birthday card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Lovely As A Tree for the Stamp ‘N Hop Blog Hop

I started by colouring the gorgeous ‘oak tree’ image using the Chocolate Chip, Garden Green, Pear Pizzazz and Always Artichoke Marker Pens. This is a great way to add multiple colours to a stamp giving texture and depth to an image. I huffed on the stamp to moisten the ink and stamped onto a panel of Whisper White cardstock 4½” by 2¾”. Taking an Aquapainter I softened and added colour to the image. I used a Soft Sky ink pad and a Sponge Dauber to add colour to the ‘sky’ and to the upper edges of the panel. I tore the bottom of the panel and inked the edge with a Sponge Dauber and Crumb Cake ink before adding the sentiment from the Yay You stamp set in Chocolate Chip ink.  I am generally not a great fan of torn or inked edges but feel that it works really well on this card.

Lovely As A Tree Stamp set by Stampin’ Up! used for a masculine birthday card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Lovely As A Tree for the Stamp ‘N Hop Blog Hop

I added a length of ¼” Copper Trim and tied it into a bow. This stamped panel was added to a layer of Chocolate Chip cardstock 5” by 2⅞”. I took an 11¾” by 4⅛” piece of Garden Green cardstock and scored it in the middle at 5⅞” to make a tent fold card.

Lovely As A Tree Stamp set by Stampin’ Up! used for a masculine birthday card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Lovely As A Tree for the Stamp ‘N Hop Blog Hop

I added a panel of Wood Textures dsp which started out at 5½” by 3⅜” before I tore the bottom. It was added to the card front using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The stamped panel was added on top using Stampin’ Dimensionals. To the inside I glued a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” having stamped the ‘oak leaf’ image in Garden Green ink at the bottom. The same image was stamped on a Whisper White Envelope

Gorgeous card trio using the Petal Palette Stamp Set and Petals and More dies by Stampin' Up!

Petal Palette for April Classes

For April’s classes we used the gorgeous Petal Palette Stamp Set, Petals & More Dies and one of the Petal Pair Embossing Folders to create 3 summery looking cards including an easel card. The ladies who came loved the set and the cards we made.

Card 1

Double layered stamping using the Petal Palette Stamp set

www.crafty-rootes.com – Petal Palette Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!

I wanted to show the ladies the double layer stamping technique and this stamp set was just perfect. We started with a Thick Whisper White card base and added a panel of Whisper White 4¾” by 3” to the centre with a little temporary adhesive. We inked up the large group of roses using Momento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped it in the upper left hand corner making sure to overlap the edge of the layer. The sentiment was stamped in the same ink at the bottom right corner of the Whisper White panel.

We then took the Melon Mambo Watercolor Pencil and scribbled colour onto the roses using a Blender Pen to soften and blend the colour. We used the Lemon Lime Twist Watercolor Pencil to add colour to the leaves and added a little depth with the Old Olive Watercolor Pencil. The Blender Pen was used again to mix the colours.

The Whisper White layer was then separated from the card base, the upper right corner rounded with a ½” WRMK Corner Rounder and added to a Basic Black cardstock layer with an identically rounded corner. The panel was then added to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. We then added Basic Rhinestones to add a little sparkle.

Card 2

Sweet card using the Petal Palette Stamp set and Petal Pairs embossing folder

www.crafty-rootes.com – Petal Palette Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!

We stamped the same rose image onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and coloured it in with the Watercolor Pencils as before. Using the Petals & More dies and the Big Shot we cut out the stamped and coloured image.

Using the Big Shot again we embossed a strip of Whisper White cardstock 5⅞” by 2¼” using one of the embossing folders in the Petal Pair set. We wrapped a length of Black Shimmer Ribbon around one edge and used Mini Glue Dots to secure the ribbon on the back. This panel was then added to the front of a Lemon Lime Twist card base using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The die cut roses were then added to the right side of the card front.

We stamped the sentiment from the Birthday Banners stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and trimmed it down. We added a scrap strip of Melon Mambo cardstock to the bottom of the sentiment and ticked the end under the flowers and finished with some Basic Rhinestones.

Card 3

Easel card using the Petal Palette Stamp set

www.crafty-rootes.com – Petal Palette Stamp Set by Stampin’ Up!

We began by folding and burnishing the Thick Whisper White card base which I had cut at 11⅞” by 4⅛  and scored at 2 15/16” and 5⅞”. We then set this aside.

We stamped the lovely dotted image onto the bottom of a Whisper White panel 4¾“by 3”, about 1” from the bottom using the Momento Tuxedo Black ink stamped off to give a lighter shade. We then added the leaf image in Lemon Lime Twist ink above using both first and second generation ink. I absolutely love this image, so versatile as well.

Onto scrap Whisper White cardstock we stamped the sweet little bird in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and 3 flowers in Melon Mambo ink and die cut them out using the Petals & More dies and the Big Shot. Using the Watercolor Pencils we coloured in the bird………..so cute.

We die cut the label from the Petals & More dies then stamped the sentiment in Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I find it easier to position the sentiment onto the die cut piece rather than stamping and then die cutting – personal preference. The sentiment was added to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The bird was added with its feet resting on the die cut sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals. We added one of the sweet Petal Passion Embellishments to the sentiment strip.

We rounded the upper corners of the stamped Whisper White panel, the Basic Black/Basic Gray panel and the Melon Mambo Panels and glued the 3 together using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. We added the whole panel to the card front using Tombow Liquid Adhesive on the lower part only. The die cut flowers were then added to the inside panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals to support the card front when the card is open.

The ladies really enjoyed making these projects. Hope you like them as well.

Special birthday card using Stampin' Up! product

Perennial Birthday with Large Numbers

Today I am sharing a card I made for one of my team mates who celebrated her special birthday in the week prior to OnStage in Telford – so the partying continued………what can I say!

I chose the large sentiment from the Perennial Birthday stamps set and mounted it onto one of the plates of my Stamparatus Stamp Positioning Tool. I placed a panel of Blushing Bride cardstock 5” by 3¼” onto the platform then inked up the stamp using Blushing Bride ink and stamped multiple times moving  the panel down using the hinge stamping method. I die cut the largest scalloped circle from the Layering Circle dies from the centre of a panel of Chocolate Chip cardstock 5⅛” by 3⅜” and used the remains of the panel to mount the stamped panel and set it aside.

Taking a panel of Whisper White cardstock approx 3½” by 3½” and my Big Shot I die cut the largest stitched circle from the Stitched Shapes Framelit Dies. I inked up the flower and leaf stamps from the set using Flirty Flamingo, Rich Razzelberry and Wild Wasabi Markers and stamped them onto tthe stitched circle.

Special birthday card using Stampin' Up! product

Using the Large Number dies I die cut a 5 and a 0 from Champagne Foil and a further 3 times each from scrap Whisper White cardstock. I glued the die cuts together using Tombow Liquid Adhesive ending with the Champagne Foil on top. I added the numbers to the stitched circle using Tombow and mounted the circle onto the die cut Chocolate Chip scalloped circle.

Using Tombow Liquid Adhesive I added the stamped circle to the stamped Blushing Bride panel, slightly off set and trimmed off the excess. The whole panel was added to the front of a Blushing Bride card base using Tombow.

To finish off I added a scattering of Iridescent Sequins.and stamped the same flower on a panel of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” and added it to the inside using Tombow.

Such a pretty card, let me know what you think.

Swaps for OnStage Telford April 2018

Bubble Over Swaps

I am so excited to be going to OnStage in Telford, UK tomorrow. Looking forward to spending time with my team, catching up with old friends and making new ones and of course SWAPPING!!!! Today I am sharing my swap.

I knew I wanted to use my new Stamparatus and the Bottles and Bubbles dies and Bubble Over stamp set to make my OnStage swaps so began with a scrap panel of Whisper White cardstock.

Template for multiple stamping using the Stamparatus

www.crafty-rootes.com – Bubble Over Bundle by Stampin’ Up for OnStage swaps

I started by making a template using a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock and die cutting the large bottle in the middle of the panel using my Big Shot and the Bottles & Bubbles framelit dies. I then die cut a further 64 large bottles from scrap pieces of Whisper White cardstock and set them aside.

Template for multiple stamping using the Stamparatus

www.crafty-rootes.com – Bubble Over Bundle by Stampin’ Up for OnStage swaps

I positioned the negative bottle image template onto the Stamparatus on top of the foam panel and inserted the large bottle stamp into the negative space before closing the door to pick up the stamp.

Template for multiple stamping using the Stamparatus

www.crafty-rootes.com – Bubble Over Bundle by Stampin’ Up for OnStage swaps

I inserted the die cut bottles, one at a time into the negative space inking up the bottle stamp in Always Artichoke ink (perfect colour for a champagne bottle) and closing the panel to stamp onto the die cut bottle.

Template for multiple stamping using the Stamparatus

www.crafty-rootes.com – Bubble Over Bundle by Stampin’ Up for OnStage swaps

I absolutely love this technique and it was so much faster doing it this way. Love it! My Always Artichoke ink pad was quite dry and I don’t have the re-inker so I double stamped the first 3 -4 bottles but the more I stamped the more I liked the aged, vintage look the dry ink pad gave so decided not to double stamp the remaining bottles.

Template for multiple stamping using the Stamparatus

www.crafty-rootes.com – Bubble Over Bundle by Stampin’ Up for OnStage swaps

I die cut 65 of the large bottle labels from scrap Whisper White cardstock with the Bottles and Bubbles dies and die cut lots of stars using the Mini Treat Bag dies and scraps of Real Red cardstock. I added a star to the centre of each label with Tombow Liquid Adhesive then added the label with the same glue to the front of each bottle.

Template for multiple stamping using the Stamparatus

I cut 65 panels of Whisper White 4¾” by 3” and rounded the upper right hand corner with my Envelope Punch Board. I placed the panels onto the Stamparatus platform and laid the sentiment stamp from the Balloon Celebrations stamp set – love the font – onto the panel then picked it up with the right hand panel. I inked up the stamp with Real Red ink and stamped onto each panel in turn. Perfectly positioned!

Next, I laid a bottle into position on the stamped Whisper White panel and stamped the stars from the Confetti Celebration stamp set in Real Red ink, I repeated this step on the other panels. The Whisper White layers were then glued to panels of Real Red cardstock 5” by 3¼” also with the upper right hand corner rounded.

I added the die cut bottles on Stampin’ Dimensionals to the stamped panel before adding the whole topper to a Thick Whisper White card base. To finish off I added some Basic Rhinestones to each card.

Sweet birthday card featuring a toucan

Bird Banter card

Today I am sharing a sweet little card made using the Bird Banter stamp set from the Spring/Summer Catalogue.

Sweet birthday card featuring a toucan

I started with a panel of Whisper White cardstock measuring 3⅞” by 2⅜”. I stamped the sentiment in Momento Tuxedo Black ink at the bottom of the panel and added the ‘toucan’ image on top using the same ink. I added the balloon in the Momento Tuxedo Black ink.

I used the following Stampin’ Blends to colour in the image – Light & Dark Night of Navy, Light & Dark Bermuda Bay, Light & Dark Daffodil Delight and Light & Dark Pool Party. I added a retired Black Rhinestone eye to the bird.

I rounded the top of the panel with my Envelope Punch Board and backed it with a panel of Daffodil Delight cardstock measuring 4” by 2½”, also with a rounded corner.

Taking a Pool Party card base I stamped the left side of the card front using Pool Party ink and added a 5⅞” by ¾” piece of Bubble and Fizz dsp using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The stamped panel was added to the card front on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Such a simple, sweet card. Hope you like it.
