Thank you card made using the Rooted in Nature stamp set and Nature's Roots dies by Stampin' Up!

Rooted in Nature with Tree Rings

Today I am sharing a card I made using the lovely new Rooted In Nature stamp set and the co-ordinating Nature’s Roots dies.

Thank you card made using the Rooted in Nature stamp set and Nature's Roots dies by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Rooted in Nature thank you card

I inked up the large Tree Rings background stamp with Soft Suede ink, I always find in easier with the larger stamps to lay them face up on my stamping surface before inking them up and laying the cardstock on top.  I used Crumb Cake cardstock 4⅜” by 3″ for this card and used a scrap piece of printer paper to lay over the top and rubbed to make sure the ink transfer evenly.  I think the result looks great and adds lovely texture to the card. I mounted this panel onto a layer of Soft Suede cardstock 4½” by 3⅛”.

Taking the ‘pine tree’ stamp I placed it on a C block and inked up the tree canopy using my Granny Apple Green ink pad. I inked the trunk of the tree using a Soft Suede Marker Pen and using a Shaded Spruce Marker Pen I coloured in small areas of the tree canopy. I huffed on the stamp to re-moisten the ink and stamped it down onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock 3½” by 2½” and die cut it out using the Nature’s Roots Framelit Dies and my Big Shot.

I die cut a Petal Pink circle using the Layering Circle Dies. I added this to the bottom of the stamped panel with Tombow Liquid Adhesive and trimmed off the excess. I added the off cut piece from the Petal Pink circle to the back of the stamped panel to add a little more interest.

I added this whole panel to the front of a Granny Apple Green card base (love this colour) using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The tree was then added to the Petal Pink semi-circle on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment from the Abstract Impressions stamp set in Soft Suede ink at the bottom of the card front. I am really happy with the way this card looks. Hope you like it!

A sweet clean and simple Engagement card featuring a diamond solitaire using Stampin' Up! products

A Clean and Simple Engagement Card

Today I am sharing the sweet card I made for my daughter and her fiancé following their engagement at the weekend. So exciting!!!!

I started with a Thick Whisper White card base and rounded the upper right corner with the Decorative Trio Punch. I die cut 2 circles using the Layering Circles Dies, the smaller in Whisper White cardstock and the next size up in Gold Foil. I glued the circles together with Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

I used the embossing buddy on the front of the Thick Whisper White card base and stamped the sentiment from the Lilypad Lake stamp set in Versamark Ink before covering it in Gold Embossing Powder. I heat set it with my Heat Tool, I just love embossing…….

I added the small panel to the card front with Stampin’ Dimensionals. Camilla’s ring is a diamond solitaire, so I finished the card by adding a large Basic Rhinestone to mimic the diamond in her ring.

Camilla favours plain and simple cards and I really hope she and Dom like this one.

Delicate filigree butterfly by Stampin' Up! for an Anniversary card

Springtime Impressions Butterfly

Today I am sharing a card I made using the gorgeous new Springtime Impressions dies. You can purchase these in a bundle with the pretty Abstract Flowers stamp set with  10% discount but today I am only using the dies.

To Make the Card

Using my Stampin’ Trimmer I cut a panel of Petal Pink cardstock at 5⅜” by 3⅝”. This is one of our new colours and is such a soft and delicate colour. I placed the large detailed butterfly from the Springtime Impressions dies in the lower left hand corner and ran it through my Big Shot. I also ran a 4½” by 2½” piece of Vellum through the Big Shot with the same butterfly die.

I then inserted the upper right corner of the Petal Pink layer into the Lovely Floral Embossing Folder and ran it through the Big Shot. Love the delicate texture this gives to the card.

Special Birthday card using Birthday Blooms and Number of Years by Stampin' Up!

Number of Years and Birthday Blooms for a Special Birthday

Today I am sharing a card I made using the Birthday Blooms stamp set, the Number of Years Stamp set and the Large Numbers dies. These are all retiring from the Annual Catalogue on the 31st of May and I will really miss them. I made this card for my Mum who is celebrating her special birthday in a couple of days.

Making the card

I began with a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock 11” by 5½” which I scored on the long side at 2¾” by 5½” using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool. I took a 2nd piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock 9¼” by 4¼” and scored it at 2¾” and 5½” on the long side. I then folded and burnished all of the score lines.

Special Birthday card using Birthday Blooms and Number of Years by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Birthday Blooms and Number of Years by Stampin’ Up!

I chose 2 patterns from the Tutti-Frutti dsp stack and cut 2 panels at 5⅜” by 2⅝” and one panel at 5⅝” by 5⅝”. I then adhered these to the larger Thick Whisper White panel leaving a tiny border round each panel.

I then cut panels in Lemon Lime Twist cardstockone at 4” by 3½” and two at 4” by 2⅝” and Whisper White panelsone at 3⅞” by 3⅜” and two at 3⅞” by 2⅜”.

Special Birthday card using Birthday Blooms and Number of Years by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Birthday Blooms and Number of Years by Stampin’ Up!

On the larger Whisper White panel I stamped the large rose image from the Birthday Blooms stamp set in the lower left hand corner using Momento Tuxedo Black ink. I stamped the smaller rose image in the bottom left or top right on the remaining Whisper White panels. I coloured the flowers in with the Light & Dark Daffodil Delight and the Light and Dark Old Olive Blends Pens.

I stamped the word ‘birthday’ using Momento Tuxedo Black ink on the on the panel with the small bloom in the lower left hand corner. I took some scrap Lemon Lime Twist cardstock and die cut each of the numbers 3 times using my Big Shot and glued them together to give added dimension. I then glued them to the largest stamped Whisper White panel. The word ‘happy’ and ‘th’ were then stamped in Momento Tuxedo Black ink either side of the die cut numbers. I rounded one corner of each of the Whisper White panels and the same corners on the Lemon Lime Twist panels using the new Detailed Trio Punch. These panels were then adhered together with Tombow liquid Adhesive and added to the small Thick Whisper White panel. I then glued the 2 main panels together.

To finish off I made an envelope using my Envelope Punch Board and the gorgeous Delightful Daisy dsp which will also retire on the 31st May.

I love the bright, sunny colours used on this card. I really hope my Mum likes it.

A Detailed Dragonfly

Today I have been playing with the gorgeous Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits and the stunning Share What You Love Designer Series Paper (dsp).

The gorgeous Share What You Love dsp meets a detailed Dragonfly

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – Share What You Love dsp meets a detailed Dragonfly using Stampin’ Up! product

I began by choosing one of the beautiful patterns from this dsp stack and after a lot of deliberation I went with one of the bolder patterns and cut a piece 5⅜” by 3⅝” using my Paper Trimmer.  I added the dsp to a layer of Whisper White cardstock 5½” by 3¾” using Tombow Liquid Adhesive before adding the whole panel to a Rich Razzleberry card base using the same glue. I really feel that the Whisper White layer makes the coloured dsp ‘pop’.

Watercolor Wings and Awesomely Artistic stamp sets by Stampin' Up used for the Kissing Technique

Watercolor Wings meets the ‘Kissing Technique’

Today I have been using a couple of our retiring stamp sets Watercolor Wings and Awesomely Artistic, both fabulous, versatile sets.

Kissing Technique

I inked up the large ‘solid butterfly’ image from the Watercolor Wings stamp set in So Saffron ink and inked up the large ‘foliage’ stamp from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set before bringing them together so that the detailed foliage was stamped onto the solid butterfly. This is known as the ‘kissing technique’. Such a striking effect.

Watercolor Wings and Awesomely Artistic and the Kissing Technique

www.crafty-rootes.com – Watercolor Wings and Awesomely Artistic and the Kissing Technique

I then stamped the solid butterfly onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock which I then die cut using the Bold Butterfly dies and my Big Shot. I stamped the butterfly ‘body’ onto the die cut piece in Real Red ink. I find it easier to line up after I die cut rather than stamping it before die cutting.

Watercolor Wings and Awesomely Artistic stamp sets by Stampin' Up used for the Kissing Technique

www.crafty-rootes.com – Watercolor Wings and Awesomely Artistic and the Kissing Technique

I place a panel of  Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” onto the front of a Thick Whisper White card base. I then inked up the foliage image from the Awesomely Artistic stamp set again with the So Saffron ink then rolled the edge around in the Real Red ink to give a two toned look. I stamped the image in the bottom right hand corner and the top left hand corner over lapping the edge of the smaller Whisper White panel.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Watercolor Wings and Awesomely Artistic and the Kissing Technique

This panel was then added to a Real Red layer, 5½” by 3¾” using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I laid the die cut butterfly in position and stamped the antennae in So Saffron ink and the spotty trail in So Saffron ink and Real Red ink. The sentiment was stamped in Real Red ink in the lower left hand corner. The whole panel was then added to the Thick Whisper White card base. Finally, the butterfly was added to the card front on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

This is such a striking technique, why don’t you give it a try.

Birthday card with balloons made using Stampin' Up products

Hand Delivered Balloons for a Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop

Stamp 'N Hop blog hop by Mo Rootes

Hello and welcome back to another Stamp ‘N Hop. I am joining you from a village 10 miles outside the beautiful city of Cambridge in the UK. In this hop we are teasing you with some of our favourite pre-order items from the new Annual Catalogue which will be available from the 1st June 2018.  If you have hopped over from Tracie Marie Lewis I am sure your loved her project, as did I.

For this month’s blog hop I have chosen the  Hand Delivered Stamp Set. This sweet stamp set is a hostess only purchase and has so many quirky images which can be used for many different occasions and I especially like the ‘to the graduate’  and the ‘hope you feel better soon’ sentiments.

Making the card

I started with a panel of Whisper White cardstock 3⅞” by 2⅞” which I adhered to the bottom left hand corner of a Whisper White card base using a little Snail Adhesive. I stamped the skirt and legs of the girl onto the panel  using Momento Tuxedo Black ink and added the top of the girl holding the balloons, deliberately stamping off the edge onto the card base. I then lifted the stamped panel off the card base which I set aside.

www.crafty-rootes.com – Hand Delivered stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

Taking the following Stampin’ Blends Pens I coloured in the girl and the balloons – light & dark Rich Razzelberry, light & dark Pink Pirouette, light & dark Pool Party, light Bermuda Bay and the Colour Lifter.

Birthday card with balloons made using Stampin' Up products

www.crafty-rootes.com – Hand Delivered stamp set by Stampin’ Up!

Using the Detailed Trio Punch I rounded the upper left corner of the stamped and coloured panel and added it to a piece of Bermuda Bay cardstock 4” by 3” with Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I used the same punch to round the corner. I added this piece to the card base on Stampin’ Dimensionals taking care to match up the balloons.

I stamped the sentiment in Rich Razzelberry ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and trimmed it out using scissors. I added it to the card front with Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

I absolutely love the simplicity of this set and I really wish there was a male version.

I am so enjoying being part of this amazingly talented group of demonstrators from around the world. To carry on hopping click on the button below or click on the link to the lovely Linda Handford and see what she has chosen to share with us this month.

Wine related masculine cards using the Half Full stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Half Full for May Classes

For this week’s class I have focused on the Half Full stamp set. This set originally featured in the Autumn/ Winter 2017 catalogue and was carried over and we now know it will be in the new Annual Catalogue which launches on the 1st June. This wine related set has great images and sentiments which will take you throughout the whole year.

Card Number 1- Row of Glasses

Wine related masculine cards using the Half Full stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com- Half-Full-Stamp-Set-By- Stampin’-Up!

We started with a Whisper White panel 4⅛” by 1⅞” and stamped the ‘small row of glasses’, twice in Archival Basic Gray ink. When the ink was dry we coloured in all but one of the glasses using the So Saffron Marker. The final glass was coloured using the Rich Razzleberry Marker pen. Over the top of the Rich Razzleberry we added a layer of Fine-Tip Glue to add shine and dimension to the card before setting the piece to one side for the glue to dry. When the glue had dried we added a ½” strip of Basic Gray cardstock to the top and bottom of the panel with Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

We stamped a ‘row of bottles’ across the bottom of a Rich Razzleberry card base using Rich Razzleberry ink. We stamped the sentiment in Archival Basic Gray ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and punched it out using the Tailored Tag Punch. We also punched a tag using the same punch from So Saffron cardstock. The 2 were glued together with Tombow Liquid Adhesive with a small border of the So Saffron cardstock showing at the bottom. We added the sentiment piece to the 4⅛” by 1⅞” stamped panel with Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

www.crafty-rootes.com- Half-Full-Stamp-Set-By- Stampin’-Up!

This whole panel was then added to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. We added a layer of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” to the inside of the card and stamped the row of glasses on the bottom and also onto the front of a Whisper White envelope.

Card Number 2 – Three Panel card

Tri-panel card using the Half Full Stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com- Half-Full-Stamp-Set-By- Stampin’-Up!

For the 2nd card we stamped the ‘bottle’ image onto a piece of Rich Razzleberry cardstock 5” by 1¾” using Archival Basic Gray ink. Using the same ink we stamped the ‘large wine glass’ onto a 3” by 1¾” piece of Tranquil Tide cardstock and the ‘row of small glasses’ onto a 1¾” by 1¾” piece of So Saffron cardstock. The sentiment was stamped in  Archival Basic Gray ink onto a 2” by ⅝” scrap of Whisper White cardstock.

We wrapped a small piece of ribbon Basic Gray Shimmer Ribbon around the top of the Rich Razzleberry panel, securing it on the back with Sellotape we then added a bow in the same ribbon to the front with a Mini Glue Dot.

Tri-panel card using the Half Full Stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com- Half-Full-Stamp-Set-By- Stampin’-Up!

The 3 stamped panels were then added to a 5¼” by 3¾” piece of Whisper White cardstock using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. The sentiment was then added on Stampin’ Dimensionals and the whole panel added to a Thick Whisper White card base with Tombow.

Card Number 3 – Gate-Fold

We started the card with a panel of Tranquil Tide cardstock 8¼” by 5⅞” which I had scored at either end, on the long side, at 2116. We folded and burnished the score lines then stamped either the ‘wine bottles’ or ‘large glasses’ onto both front panels in Tranquil Tide ink.

The ladies then chose a sentiment from the Half Full, Thoughtful Banners or Beautiful Bouquet stamp sets and stamped these in either Archival Basic Gray or Tranquil Tide ink onto a 3¼” by 3¼” piece of Whisper White cardstock. They stamped the ‘bottle’ and the ‘large glass’ onto the same panel using the Archival Basic Gray ink.

Using the new Detailed Trio Punch they punched one corner of the Whisper White panel and the same corner on a panel of Basic Gray cardstock 3⅜” by 3⅜” and glued the 2 together with Tombow Liquid Adhesive. Stampin’ Dimensionals or glue was then added to the left had side of the panel which was then added to the left hand flap of the card front.

A layer of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” was stamped with the ‘wine bottle’ or ‘large glass’ and added to the inside of the card and the same image was stamped on the bottom of a Whisper White envelope.

Card featuring a dragon using Stampin' Up products

A Dragon makes a Magical Day

Today I have been making a quick birthday card for a friend.  She loves all things dragon and has quite a collection going so the Magical Day stamp set was the obvious choice for her birthday card.

Making the card

I started by stamping the gorgeous dragon onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock before die cutting it out using the co-ordinating Magical Mates Framelit Dies and my Big Shot. I die cut a square from Whisper White cardstock using the Layering Squares dies and a slightly larger scalloped circle from scrap Basic Gray cardstock using the same set of dies.

I coloured the dragon using Stampin’ Blends in light & dark Rich Razzelberry, light & dark Bermuda Bay and dark Pool Party.  When the image was fully coloured I added the dragon to the Whisper White square and glued this to the Basic Gray scalloped square die cut using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.

I cut a 4⅛” by 1” strip of the Bermuda Bay paper from the Myths and Magic Glimmer Paper stack. I added this strip to the front of a Thick Whisper White card base using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I added the square topper over the gorgeous glimmer strip using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment from the same stamp set was added below in Archival Basic Gray ink.

I think this simple card is so pretty. I really hope my friend likes it.

Gorgeous flowers and vases for a hello card

Varied Vases for a sweet ‘Hello’ card

One of the first items I added to my pre-order basket was the gorgeous Varied Vases stamp set and its co-ordinating Vases builder Punch.  I was so happy to see another stamp set and co-ordinating punch as the ladies in my classes love this combination. For today’s project I have only used the stamp set.

I took a 4⅛” by 2¼” piece of Whisper White cardstock and stamped the vases in groups across the panel in Pool Party, Blushing Bride, So Saffron and Calypso Coral ink. I overlapped some of the vases to add interest.

I inked up the gorgeous floral stem in Early Espresso ink being careful to only partly ink up the stem as in this case I didn’t want to ‘see’ them in the vase. I coloured the flowers in with Calypso Coral ink but managed to get a small halo by rocking the stamp………don’t you hate doing that. To cover it up I re-inked the stem and stamped again adding the flower colour more carefully this time.

At the other end of the strip I stamped 2 partial stems in Early Espresso ink and added 2 of the ‘tulip’ style flowers with the Early Espresso and coloured them in with So Saffron ink.

I stamped the sentiment from the same stamp set in Calypso Coral ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and trimmed it out with my scissors adding a flagged end before gluing it with Tombow Liquid Adhesive  to the right side of the panel.

The stamped panel was adhered to a Calypso Coral strip 4⅛” by ½”.  The scalloped border was stamped in Calypso Coral ink about half way up a Thick Whisper White card base and the completed panel was added on top with Stampin Dimensionals. A few Basic Rhinestones were added to finish the card off.

Such a simple, pretty card. Hope you like it
