Lovely Autumn card using the falling leaves image from the Blended Seasons stamp set

Blended Seasons Falling Leaves

Today I am using the gorgeous falling leaves from the Blended Seasons stamp set to make another card. This time I have used some of the new Stampin’ Blends to colour the leaves in.

Making the Falling Leaves card

I started by stamping the sentiment from the Blended Seasons stamp set using Momento Tuxedo Black ink in the lower left corner of a Whisper White panel 4 ¾” by 3 ½”. I then stamped the leaf image in Momento Tuxedo Black ink at the top of the panel and a couple of leaves at the bottom of the panel by the sentiment.

I used the light Granny Apple Green, light Daffodil Delight and light Pineapple Punch Stampin’ Blends to colour in the leaves, these pens colour in so smoothly and blend so well and the colours are so vibrant.

Taking a scrap of Daffodil Delight cardstock and the Decorative Ribbon Punch I punched a strip3 ½” long and adhered it to the bottom of the Whisper White panel using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I scored and folded a Thick Whisper White card base and added a 5⅝” by 3⅞” panel of dsp from the Tropical Escape dsp stack using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The stamped panel was added to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. The card was finished with a scattering of Glitter Enamel Dots

I kept the colouring fairly simple using the Granny Apple Green light and dark Blends pens for the leaves and the light and dark Flirty Flamingo Blends for the flowers with a little light Calypso Coral for the flower centres. I absolutely love the vibrancy of the Stampin’ Blends. I rounded the upper left corner of the panel using the Detailed Trio Punch.

Tropical Chic stamp set and Tropical dies used for a special double Z fold card

Tropical Chic Double Z Fold Card

Today I am sharing a double Z fold card made for another of my oldest and loveliest friends. We have been friends for over 40 years!

Making this gorgeous card

I started by cutting a piece of Thick Whisper White cardstock 11” by 5½” and another piece 9¼” by 4¼”. Using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool I scored both pieces at 2¾” and 5½” on the long sides. I chose 2 of the gorgeous pieces of the Tropical Escape dsp. I cut 1 panel at 5¼” by 5¼” and 2 panels at 5¼” by 2½” and adhered the pieces to the larger Thick Whisper White card base. This dsp is stunning and I love the green and pink colour combination.

Tropical Chic stamp set and Tropical dies used for a special double Z fold card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Tropical Chic for a special Double Z fold card

I took the detailed square die from the Tropical Thinlit dies and using my Big Shot I die cut it for Soft Sea Foam cardstock. I then cut a square of Granny Apple Green cardstock 2 ¾” by 2 ¾” and added it behind the Soft Sea Foam piece with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. This piece was then added to the front of the smaller Thick Whisper White panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I cut 2 panels of Granny Apple Green cardstock 2 ¾” by 2 ¾” and round the top corners with the Detailed Trio Punch. I cut 2 panels of Whisper White cardstock 2 ½” by 2 ½”, round the upper corners as before then stamped one of the leaves from the Tropical Chic stamp set in Granny Apple Green ink in the upper right or lower left corner. These panels were then adhered to the Granny Apple Green layers and glued the Thick Whisper White piece.

I stamped the flowers in 1st and 2nd generation Flirty Flamingo ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and die cut them out with my Big Shot and the Tropical Thinlits. The flowers were then added with either Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive or Stampin’ Dimensionals to the 3 front panels of the card. I also cut an extra leaf from Granny Apple Green cardstock and added it to the die cut panel.

The sentiment from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set was stamped in Granny Apple Green ink. The smaller panel was then added to the larger panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I love this style of card. I added a scattering of Love What You Do Artisan Pearls to the card front.

I used my Envelope Punch Board and some retired Flirty Flamingo dsp to make an envelope for the card.

Sweet Animal Outings card featuring the Giraffes by Stampin' Up!

Animal Outings gorgeous Giraffes

Today I have been playing with the quirky Animal Outing stamp set. I was lucky enough to go to OnStage in April and this was an all attendee gift ……..lucky me. For those that don’t know OnStage is the fantastic twice yearly event  for Stampin’ Up! demonstrators where we get together to try out new product, new techniques and generally have a fantastic crafty time. This is the first time I have had a chance to play with this fabulous set.

Making the Card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Animal Outings Giraffes by Stampin’ Up!

I started by stamping the circle from the Swirly Frames stamp set in Granny Apple Green ink onto a panel of Whisper White cardstock 3 ½” by 3 ½”. I then cut this out using the Layering Circle dies and my Big Shot. I masked off the edge of the die cut circle and stamped the sweet leaf image randomly on the inside of the circle. Using a Blender Pen I pulled in the colour from the edges of the leaves to give them a little depth.

Taking some scrap Whisper White cardstock I stamped 2 giraffes from the Animal Outings stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink and die cut both images using the Animal Friends dies and my Big Shot. I coloured both images using the Light and Dark Daffodil Delight and the Light and Dark Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends.

I added the stamped circle to a panel of Whisper White measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝” and placed the giraffes onto  the circle, one with Multipurpose Liquid Glue and the other on Stampin’ Dimensionals…….. they looks so cute.

I rounded the upper left and lower right corners with the Detailed Trio Punch and added the panel to a layer of So Saffron cardstock  5⅝” by 3⅞” with identical rounded corners. I then added the panel to a Granny Apple Green card base with the same rounded corners.

I punched out a number of leaves from Granny Apple Green cardstock using the Leaf Punch and tucked them around the circle.

This is such a sweet card. I hope you like it.

A fresh and simple Tropical Chic card

Tropical Chic, fresh and simple

Today I am sharing a clean and simple card made using the Tropical Chic stamp set from the new Annual Catalogue.

Making the Tropical Chic card

I wanted to use shades of green for this card to keep it fresh and simple and started with a Soft Sea Foam card base. I really love this colour; it is a fantastic addition to our new colour palette.

A fresh and simple Tropical Chic card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Tropical Chic by Stampin’ Up! for a fresh and simple card

I die cut 3 squares from Whisper White cardstock using the Stitched Shapes Dies. I stamped a different leaf from the Tropical Chic stamp set onto each of the die cut squares using Shaded Spruce ink, Soft Sea Foam ink or Granny Apple Green ink; this has become one of my go to colour combos this summer.

A fresh and simple Tropical Chic card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Tropical Chic by Stampin’ Up! for a fresh and simple card

I cut a panel of Granny Apple Green cardstock 5⅞” by 2” and adhered the stamped squares onto it using Multipurpose Liquid Glue taking care to leave an even border around all 3 images. I added a 5⅞” strip of Silver Foil to the bottom of the panel using the same adhesive.

I stamped the sentiment from the same Tropical Chic stamp set in Granny Apple Green ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and punched it out using the Everyday label Punch. I trimmed a little from the right side of the sentiment and added it beneath the stamped panel using the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

A fresh and simple Tropical Chic card

The whole panel was added to the card front on Stampin’ Dimensionals. I stamped the same 3 leaf images in the same 3 colours onto a panel of Whisper White 5⅜ by 3⅝” for the inside of the card and again on the front of the envelope.

This is such a clean and simple card, love it……

Pop of Petals by Stampin' Up! for a sweet card

Pop of Petals makes for a very sweet card

Today I have been using the lovely new Pop of Petals stamp set and co-ordinating Four-Petal Punch to make a sweet card.

Pop of Petals

I began by taking a panel of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝”. Using a ruler and pencil I drew 2 parallel lines an inch apart towards the top of the panel.

Pop of Petals by Stampin' Up! for a sweet card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Pop of Petals by Stampin’ Up!

Starting with the largest image I then stamped and flowers and leaves overlapping the pencil lines. I used Night of Navy ink for the largest flowers then Coastal Cabana, Grapefruit Grove and So Saffron ink for the smaller flowers. The smaller flowers come as one stamp which I cut apart using sharp Paper Snips, this gives much more flexibility and they fit together again really easily if you want to stamp them together. The leaves were stamped in Soft Sea Foam ink.

Pop of Petals by Stampin' Up! for a sweet card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Pop of Petals by Stampin’ Up!

After stamping I rubbed out the pencil lines before adding the stamped panel to a layer of Night of Navy cardstock measuring 5½” by 3⅞”. This was then added to a Coastal Cabana card base with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. On a piece of Whisper White I stamped the sentiment from the Hanging  Garden stamp set in Night of Navy ink and added it on Stampin’ Dimensionals over the place where the pencil lines had been.

On a scrap of Whisper White cardstock I stamped one of the large flowers and punched it out using the Four-Petal Flower punch and added it on a Stampin’ Dimensional to the left of the sentiment panel. To complete the card I added some Glitter Enamel Dots using my Paper Piercer.

July Classes featuring the Love What You Do stamp set and Share What You Love dsp by Stampin' Up!

Love What You Do for July Classes

Today I am sharing the projects we made in this month’s classes using the Love What You Do stamp set and Share What You Love designer series paper (dsp).

July Classes featuring the Love What You Do stamp set and Share What You Love dsp by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Love What You Do and Share What You Love by Stampin’ Up!

Card 1 – scatter of flowers

We started with a layer of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5¼” by 3½” and stamped the large watercolor image in 2nd generation Pool Party ink. Second generation is when you ink up a stamp, stamp onto scrap paper then stamp the 2nd generation, or 3rd or 4th generation, onto your project.

I inked up the small flower images in Rich Razzelberry ink and stamped them from the bottom left to the top right of the Pool Party stamped image. Taking a Blender Pen and the Rich Razzelberry ink pad I coloured in the small flowers.

The sentiment from the Hand Delivered stamp set was stamped in Rich Razzelberry ink onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock 2” by ⅜” and trimmed a banner end using my Paper Snips. I added the sentiment to slightly larger piece of Rich Razzelberry cardstock and tucked a cut down piece of Pearlized Doily  behind using Multipurpose Liquid Glue. This was added to the stamped panel on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The whole panel was then added to a piece of Rich Razzelberry cardstock 5½” by 3” and adhered this panel to a Thick Whisper White card base on Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added a scrap of Rich Razzelberry and Pool Party cardstock to the lop left hand corner of the stamped panel using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive after banner ending with paper Snips. Finally I added a small bow made with White and Silver Baker’s Twine.

July Classes featuring the Love What You Do stamp set and Share What You Love dsp by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Love What You Do and Share What You Love by Stampin’ Up!

Card 2 – Embossed background

We took a 5” by 3⅝” panel of Pool Party cardstock and ran it through the Big Shot with the Lovely Floral Embossing folder. This panel was then adhered to the right hand side of the Thick Whisper White card base with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Taking the 3½” by 2¾” panel of Whisper White cardstock we stamped the Watercolor image in 2nd generation pool Party ink in the centre. We inked up the largest flower and stamped it in Rich Razzelberry ink and added the 2 leaves in Pool Party ink. This panel was then added to a layer of Rich Razzelberry cardstock 3⅝” by 2⅞” with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Taking a small piece of the Share What You Love dsp we flagged one end and adhered it to the embossed Pool Party layer. The stamped panel was then added over the top on Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment from the hand Delivered stamp set was stamped onto a scrap of Whisper White 2½” by ⅜” and added to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and a Stampin’ Dimensional.

July Classes featuring the Love What You Do stamp set and Share What You Love dsp by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Love What You Do and Share What You Love by Stampin’ Up!

Card 3 – Thank You card

We again stamped the watercolor image in 2nd generation Pool party ink onto a panel of Whisper White 4” by 2¾” and stamped the flower image overtop in Rich Razzelberry ink. We also stamped the flowers in Rich Razzelberry ink onto a scrap piece of Whisper White cardstock. After colouring the flowers in using the Rich Razzelberry ink pad and Blender Pens we cut them out using paper snips and adhered them to the stamped panel. We added the stamped panel to a piece of Rich Razzelberry cardstock4 ¼” by 2” and set it to one side.

We added a piece of Share What You Love dsp to the front of a Pool Party card base using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesivebefore adding the stamped panel overtop on Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment was stamped in Rich Razzelberry ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock measuring 2” by 1” and added this to the card front using Multipurpose liquid Adhesive and a Stampin’ Dimensional.

The ladies really enjoyed making these cards. I hope you like them.

Stamp ‘N Hop – Garden Impressions

Stamp 'N Hop blog hop by Mo Rootes

Welcome to this month’s Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop, if you have hopped over from Jenn Charles I am sure you love her gorgeous projects. My name is Mo Rootes and I live near Cambridge in the UK and you are very welcome to my blog where the theme of this month’s hop is our favourite new Designer Series Paper (dsp). I love dsp but have struggled in the past to cut into it……..it is so pretty…….what’s a girl to do!

However, since I began offering my ladies a regular Stamp-a-Stack option with projects based around a pack of dsp, I have had to start cutting into my lovely stash and I am so happy I did. I love the dimension these gorgeous papers add to the cards I design and my ladies also love them.

For today’s projects I have chosen to use the vibrant and so summery Garden Impressions dsp . I love the bright and cheerful floral patterns in this pack.

The card

www.crafty-rootes.com - Stamp 'N Hop using the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Stamp ‘N Hop Garden Impressions

For my card today I chose one of my favourite papers and cut a panel of dsp measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝”. I adhered it to a layer of Whisper White cardstock 5 ½” by 3 ¾” using Multipurpose adhesive. This panel was then added to the front of a So saffron card base using the same adhesive.

www.crafty-rootes.com - Stamp 'N Hop using the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Stamp ‘N Hop Garden Impressions

Taking a strip of So Saffron cardstock 5⅞” by ¼”and a Night of Navy ink pad and stamped the sentiment, chosen from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set all the way across. This strip was then adhered to the card front using the Multipurpose liquid adhesive.

www.crafty-rootes.com - Stamp 'N Hop using the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Stamp ‘N Hop Garden Impressions

I die cut a gorgeous dragonfly from Whisper White cardstock using my Big shot and the Detailed Dragonfly Thinlits. Using my Bone Folder I curled the wings to give some dimension to the card and adhered it to the card front using 3 Mini Glue Dots on the body. To give a little sparkle I added 2 gold Faceted Dots to the dragonfly body.

The Envelope Punch Board Treat Box

I then made a small box to match using my Envelope Punch Board. I started with a 6” by 6” piece of dsp and punched and scored it at 3½” and 3¼” then rotated the dsp 90⁰ and lined up the pointer with the score lines punching and scoring all the way around.

www.crafty-rootes.com - Stamp 'N Hop using the Garden Impressions Designer Series Paper by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – Stamp ‘N Hop Garden Impressions

I cut up each of the 4 small tabs using my sharp Paper Snips, taking a small wedge from each side to ensure that the box would close neatly. After folding and burnishing all the score lines with my Bone Folder I applied a glue dot to 2 of the tabs and folded them in to close the sides and back of the box. I will close the top flap with a glue dot when I have added my gift.

I die cut another dragonfly from Whisper White cardstock using the Detailed dragonfly Thinlit dies and added it to the front of the box using Mini Glue Dots. I stamped the same sentiment onto a small strip of So saffron cardstock in Night of Navy ink and tucked it under the dragonfly body after flagging one end. I added 2 Facet Dots to the dragonfly body and the project was finished.
