A masculine birthday card made using the Nothing Sweeter stamp set by Stampin' Up!

A Nothing Sweeter Masculine Birthday card

Today I made a birthday card for my brother in law using the fantastic Nothing Sweeter stamp set. I used this set last week to make some Christmas cards and I love that this stamp set can be used for so much more than Christmas.

Nothing Sweeter Birthday Card

I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝”. Using the Sweetly Stitched Framelit dies and my Big Shot I chose the zigzag stitched edgelit and embossed it twice along the bottom of the panel to add some texture.

Next I stamped the parcels onto some scrap Whisper White cardstock  in Blueberry Bushel, Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green inks. The outer part of the parcel was stamped in full strength, 1st generation ink. The inner parcel was stamped in 2nd generation ink, ie stamped off once to give a lighter shade. The stripes were added in the 1st generation ink. The parcels were then die cut using the Sweetly Stitched dies and the Big Shot.

I wrapped a length of ⅛” Blueberry Bushel Grosgrain Ribbon and wrapped it around the embossed panel above the zigzag stitched lines and tied it in a knot. The layer was added to a Granny Apple Green layer measuring 5½” by 3¾”with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. This panel was then added to a Blueberry Bushel card base with the same glue.

The die cut parcels were then added to the card front, the Blueberry Bushel and Bermuda Bay parcels with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and the Granny Apple Green parcel with Stampin’ Dimensionals. The sentiment from the Hand Delivered stamp set was stamped in Bermuda Bay ink onto a ⅜ strip of Whisper White which was trimmed to fit and added with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I love the look of this card and the colour combo works so well.

A monochromatic Tropical Chic thank you card

Monochromatic Tropical Chic

I really wanted to make a card using a monochromatic colour scheme and pulled out the Tropical Chic stamp set to make this card. I love this stamp set but it hasn’t had much love lately.

I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝” and stamped 3 of the leaf images from the stamp set in Momento Tuxedo Black ink, Gray Granite ink or Smoky Slate ink. I concentrated the images down the left hand side of the panel overlapping to add some dimension.

The sentiment was stamped in Gray Granite ink onto a scrap of Whisper White cardstock and die cut using the Layering Oval Dies and my Big Shot. I then die cut a scalloped oval from the same die cut and glued the two layers together using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. This was then added over the ribbon on Stampin’ Dimensionals. To finish the card I added some Faceted Dots.

I really like the monochromatic look of this card. I hope you like it.

A Christmas card made using the Nothing Sweeter stamp set and Sweetly Stitched framelits by Stampin' Up!

Nothing Sweeter than Christmas

Today I have had my first play with a really versatile stamp set called Nothing Sweeter. I used the quirky Christmas tree image from the stamp set which also has images of a present, a heart, a snowflake, a group of stars and a number of versatile sentiments.

Nothing Sweeter Christmas Card

I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4” by 3¾”. I inked up the large texture stamp from the Beautiful Blizzard stamp set using 2nd generation Balmy Blue ink. I stamped the sentiment in Balmy Blue ink in the upper left hand corner of the panel and rounded the same corner using the Detailed Trio Punch. Using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive I added the stamped panel to a layer of Mossy Meadow cardstock having rounded the same corner.

www.crafty-rootes.com -Nothing Sweeter stamp set makes a Christmas card

I then took some scrap Whisper White cardstock and stamped the outline Christmas tree image in Mossy Meadow ink three times. I added the tree interior in 2nd or 3rd generation ink before die cutting them using the Big Shot and the Sweetly Stitched Framelits, both the tree frame and the stitched inner die. The trees were added to the right side of the panel using either Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive or Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added some stars around the die cut trees in 2nd generation Balmy Blue ink.

Taking a Thick Whisper White card base I adhered a piece of Festive Farmhouse dsp 4” by 1⅞” to the bottom. The stamped panel was added to the card front using Stampin’ Dimensionals. I added some Red Rhinestones to the trees and a bow made using the Festive Farmhouse Cotton Twine in Mossy Meadow.

A sweet card made using the Seasoned With Kindness hostess stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Seasoned With Kindness

Today I have been using the Seasoned With Kindness stamp set to make a sweet thank you card. This is such a sweet stamp set with great images to use for 2 or 3 step stamping.

Making the Seasoned With Kindness card

I started with a layer of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4¾” by 3⅛”. I inked up the outline pot stamp with Early Espresso ink and stamped it 3 times from left to right. I then stamped in inside of the pots using Balmy Blue ink.

A sweet card made using the Seasoned With Kindness hostess stamp set by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com -Seasoned with kindness by Stampin Up

Starting with the pot on the right, I stamped the outline of the plant in Pear Pizzazz ink and the inside of the plant in 2nd generation Pear Pizzazz ink. The leaves of the centre plant were stamped in Garden Green ink and the inside of the leaves in 2nd generation Garden Green. I added the flower in Lovely Lipstick ink.

The plant in the left hand pot was stamped in Granny Apple Green ink and I stamped the tiny sentiment label in Granny Apple Green ink and fussy cut it out. I wrapped some Linen Thread around the bottom of the card and tied it in a bow.

I added the stamped layer to a layer of Early Espresso cardstock measuring 4⅞” by 3¼” using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I added this to a layer of Lovely Lipstick cardstock 5” by 3⅝” using the same glue.

I had originally planned to add this layer to the front of a Thick Whisper White card base but on reflection decided it needed something more. After trying a few different options I settled on a piece of Wood Textures dsp cut at 5⅞” by 4⅛” which I cut in half diagonally and added this to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive adding the stamped layer over top on dimensionals.

This is such a sweet card. I hope you like it.

A sweet birthday card made using the Daisy Punch and the Delightfully Detailed dsp by Stampin' Up!

Delightfully Detailed Daisy

Today I am sharing the sweet card I made earlier this month for a customer’s birthday using the Daisy Punch and a piece of the gorgeous Delightfully Detailed designer series paper (dsp).

Making the Daisy Card

I started by taking a piece of Highland Heather cardstock 5½” by 3¾” and punching 2 daisies from the centre using the Daisy Punch making sure to stay away from the edges. I then took a piece of Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” and adhering it to the piece of Highland Heather cardstock using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I then inserted the whole panel into the 2¼” Circle Punch and punched a hole.

A sweet birthday card made using the Daisy Punch and the Delightfully Detailed dsp by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com -deightfully delighted daisy birthday card

I cut a small piece of the stunning Delightfully Detailed dsp, just enough to place behind the punched circle. I glued the dsp to the front of a Soft Sea Foam after marking where it would show in the circle. I used little dabs of Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to secure the dsp. The punched panel was then added to the card front on Stampin Dimensionals.

I used my bone folder to curl the petals of the punched daisies before adhering them together with a couple of Mini Glue Dots, a Clear Faceted Gem was added to the centre. I glued the daisy to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Using the Leaf punch I punched a couple of leaf sprigs and tucked them in behind the flower. The sentiment from the Dragonfly Dreams stamp set was stamped in Highland Heather ink onto a scrap of Whisper White which was added to the card front with glue.

I love the soft colours of this card, so pretty.

A sweet new home card made using the Hearts Come Home stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Hearts Come Home

Today I am sharing a card I made, using the Hearts Come Home stamp set, for my nephew and his fiancée who have just bought their first house. Although this set is technically a Christmas themed the houses work so well for a new home card.

The beautiful Bauble stamp set by Stampin Up makes a gorgeous watercoloured Christmas card

Beautiful Bauble watercoloured

A couple of days ago I saw a video where fellow demonstrator Alisa Tilsner aka The Artful Stamper made a card using the gorgeous Beautiful Bauble stamp set and I had to try CASEing it myself.

Making the Beautiful Bauble card

I started with a panel of Watercolor Paper 4½” by 3”. I rubbed the Embossing Buddy over the paper to get rid of oils and static before stamping the large bauble randomly across the panel with Versamark ink. I then covered the panel in White Embossing Powder and heat set it using my Heat Tool.

The beautiful Bauble stamp set by Stampin Up makes a gorgeous watercoloured Christmas card

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beautiful Baubles heat embossed and watercoloured

I chose to colour my baubles using HighIand Heather and Coastal Cabana and added a couple of drops of each of the re-inkers to a clear block. I then added water to one bauble using an Aquapainter, picked up some of the re-inker with the Aquapainter and added it to the bauble. I love the way the ink moves in the water. I coloured each bauble one at a time.

When all the baubles were coloured in I left the panel to dry before adding it with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to a layer of Coastal Cabana cardstock measuring 4¾” by 3¼”. This panel was then glued to a layer of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4⅞” by 3⅜”. The whole piece was then added to a Highland Heather card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The sentiment was stamped in Versamark onto a scrap of Gorgeous Grape cardstock and covered with White Embossing Powder. I heat set it using my Heat tool before adding it to the front of the card with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I absolutely love this card, it is gorgeous and so easy to make. I will try it in some other colours.

I started with a panel of Whisper White cardstock measuring 4⅛” by 2⅝” and added it  the middle of a Thick Whisper White card base with some temporary adhesive. I inked up the broader spiky leaves in Mint Macaron ink, stamped off the 1st generation onto my Grid Paper before stamping onto the Thick Whisper White card base/Whisper White panel. I repeated this step stamping the leaves across the whole card front. I inked up the thinner leaves in Mint Macaron ink and stamped it on top of the previously stamped leaves,

Lift me up stamp set and Up & away dies for an anniversary card

Lift Me Up Anniversary Card

Today I have used the Lift Me Up stamp set and Up & Away dies to make an anniversary card for my lovely husband.

Making the Lift Me Up card

I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock. I then took a clear block and added some Balmy Blue ink by pressing the ink pad to the block. I added a drop of glycerine and mixed it with the Balmy Blue ink, I read somewhere that this gives a smoother ink blend and it absolutely does. It was amazing; the ink went on smoothly with no streaks and blobs. I added this panel to the front of a Thick Whisper White card base.

I stamped the large hot air balloon in Granny Apple Green ink onto a scrap of Granny Apple Green cardstock and die cut it using the Up & Away dies and my Big Shot. I stamped the small hot air balloon in Bermuda Bay onto Bermuda Bay cardstock and again in Pacific Point on Pacific Point cardstock and die cut them out. While I had the Big Shot out I also die cut some of the cloud shapes from scrap Whisper White cardstock.

Winter Woods for a Stamp 'N Hop

Winter Woods Stamp ‘N Hop

Stamp 'N Hop Oct title

www.crafty-rootes.com – Stamp ‘N Hop Oct title

Welcome to October’s Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop. My name is Mo Rootes and I live near Cambridge in the UK. If you have hopped over from the lovely Pia Gerhardt I am sure you loved her project. The theme this month is a Christmas jump start – with this in mind I designed this month’s class projects around the gorgeous Winter Woods stamp set and co-ordinating In the Woods dies.

Row of Trees Card

I began with a panel of Whisper White 5⅛” by 3½”. I inked up the row of trees in Soft Suede ink and added a little of the gorgeous Frost White Shimmer Paint with a Sponge Dauber and stamped across the Whisper White panel twice.

Winter Woods for a Stamp 'N Hop blog hop

www.crafty-rootes.com – Winter Woods for a Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop

Taking the snow bank edgelit from the In the Woods Framelit Dies, I die cut the bottom of the panel before adding the stamped panel to a layer of Soft Suede cardstock 5¼” by 3⅝” using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I then added the whole piece offset onto a Soft Sea Foam card base on Stampin’ Dimensionals.

The greeting from the Beautiful Blizzard stamp set was stamped on scrap Whisper White cardstock in Shaded Spruce ink. This was added to the card base with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. For an bit of extra bling I added a scattering of Iridescent Sequins.

Christmas Tree

I started with a panel of Soft Sea Foam 5⅞” by 3⅞” and stamped the row of trees in Soft Suede ink about half way up the panel. Using Soft Sea Foam ink and the tiny group of stars stamp from the Beautiful Baubles stamp set I stamped randomly above the trees.

Winter Woods for a Stamp 'N Hop

www.crafty-rootes.com – Winter Woods for a Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop

I  ran a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 3⅞” by 3” and a piece of Vellum 3⅞” by 2” through the Big Shot with the snow bank edgelit die and added them to the Soft Sea Foam piece with Stampin Dimensionals. I wrapped a piece of the gorgeous Braided Linen Trim around the bottom of the panel, securing it on the back with Sellotape. I added a bow on the top with a Mini Glue Dot.

Next I die cut the Christmas Tree and the inner part of the tree from a piece of Shaded Spruce cardstock 6” by 2⅝” and flipped up the tree flaps and added some Champagne Shimmer Paint with a Sponge Dauber. The tree was added to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive on the bottom and Dimensionals on the top. The whole panel was then added to a Soft Suede card base with a sprinkling of Iridescent Sequins. The sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set was stamped in Shaded Spruce ink onto a scrap of Whisper White and added to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Gift Bag

The sweet bag was made using the Gift Bag Punch Board and a panel of Soft Sea Foam 11” by 7” and following the ‘medium’ bag instructions I punched and scored the bag. I trimmed away the excess pieces and stamped the front panel and closing top flap with the Soft Sea Foam ink and the tiny star stamp from the Beautiful Bauble stamp set. I closed the bottom of the bag using Tear & Tape.

I die cut a snow bank from a piece of Whisper White cardstock and added it to the front of the bag with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I stamped the tree onto a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 3½” by 2” using Shaded Spruce Ink and a little Champagne Shimmer Paint added with a Sponge Dauber. I die cut the tree using the In the Woods Framelit dies and attached it to the box with Dimensionals.

I wrapped some ⅛” Whisper White Ribbon around the bag and tied in a bow and added a scatter of Iridescent Sequins.

I am really happy with these projects, I hope you like them. Please hop on to see what Jo Blackman has to share with us, then take the opportunity to hop around to see the rest of the wonderful inspiration provided by the other lovely demos.
