Using Designer Series Paper (dsp)

I don’t know about you but I buy our gorgeous Designer Series Paper (dsp). I admire it and stroke it and yes occasionally sniff it but I rarely use it………..what is that all about! So this year I have decided to do something about it. So with this in mind I got out thee beautiful Petal Promenade, found a sketch on Pinterest………I love Pinterest and set to work.

Making the Petal Promenade card

A pretty floral card made using the Petal Promenade dsp by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – A pretty floral card made using the Petal Promenade designer series paper (dsp)

You will need;
Mossy Meadow card base
Calypso Coral 5⅝” by 3⅞”
DSP 5½” by 3 ¾”
Mossy Meadow 4⅜” by 2⅞”
DSP 4¼” by 2¾”
Whisper White 5⅜” by 3⅝”
Scrap Whisper White and Calypso Coral

I started by selecting the dsp patterns I wanted to use – one busy pattern and one fairly solid pattern and cut them down to the sizes above using my Trimmer.

A pretty floral card made using the Petal Promenade dsp by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – A pretty floral card made using the Petal Promenade designer series paper (dsp)

Next I chose and scored my card base and cut my Calypso Coral and Mossy Meadow layers and rounded the upper right corner of all the pieces using the Detailed Trio Punch and adhered them together with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

A pretty floral card made using the Petal Promenade dsp by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – A pretty floral card made using the Petal Promenade designer series paper (dsp)

I stamped the sentiment from the Floral Frames stamp set in Mossy Meadow ink and stamped it onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and die cut it out using the Layering Circle framelit dies. I cut a slightly larger scalloped circle using the same set and a scrap piece of Calypso Coral cardstock. I glue these together with the Multipurpose Liquid Ahdhesive and added the sentiment to the layered pieces on Dimensionals.

The whole panel was then added to the Mossy Meadow card base with the multipurpose glue. I had a small Whisper White butterfly, punched out using the Butterfly Duet Punch, on my desk and added it to the card front with a Mini Glue Dot. The Basic Pearls were coloured using the dark Calypso Coral Blend pen and added to the butterfly and sentiment.

This is a really quick card; it took longer to choose the patterns to use than it did to make the card. I hope you like it.

Cute cards made using the Piece of Cake stamp set and Cake Builder Punch by Stampin' Up!

Piece of Cake for March Classes

Today I am sharing the projects made at this week’s March classes where we focused on the gorgeous Piece of Cake stamp set and Cake Builder Bundle.

Joy Fold card

Thick Whisper White cardstock 8½” by 4¼” and scored it on the long side at 5½”
Thick Whisper White cardstock 8” by 3” and scored it on the long side at 4”
Call Me Clover cardstock 5⅜” by 4⅛”
Early Espresso piece 4⅛” by 2⅞”
Call Me Clover 3⅞” by 2⅞”
Whisper White cardstock 3¼” by 2¾”

We began by folding and burnishing the score lines.  Next step was to randomly stamp the ‘dotty cake’ on a piece of Call Me Clover cardstock 5⅜” by 4⅛” in Call Me Clover ink. This layer was then added to the back panel of the larger scored panel. The Early Espresso piece was then added to the smaller panel of the same piece of Thick Whisper White. Both these panels were added with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

The sentiment from the Amazing Life stamp set was stamped in Early Espresso ink onto the small piece of Whisper White. The word ‘CAKE’ was coloured in using the Light Call Me Clover Blends pen.

The cake was stamped in Early Espresso onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and the cake stand was stamped in the same ink onto scrap Call Me Clover cardstock. Both were then punched out using the co-ordinating Cake Builder Punch. The cake was coloured in using the following Blends Pens – Call Me Clover Combo, Lovely Lipstick combo, Balmy Blue combo and Bronze.

We used a Dimensional on the back to attach the cake to the cake stand and added a couple more dimensionals to hold the cake up before adding it to the stamped panel of Whisper White cardstock. This panel was then glued to the smaller layer of Call Me Clover before it was added to the small folded panel of Thick Whisper White being careful to have the fold the right way round…………

We stamped the candles in Call Me Clover ink onto the inner panel adding the sentiment in Early Espresso ink below the candles. Lastly we coloured in some of the Basic Pearls using the Blends pens and added them to the card front.

This card has a more masculine look which I really liked.

We randomly stamped the sentiment in 1st, 2nd and 3rd generation Lovely Lipstick ink down the left side of one of the large Whisper White panels. This panel was then added to the Early Espresso layer with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and then glued to the Lovely Lipstick card base.

We stamped the cake onto the scrap Whisper White cardstock and punched it out using the Cake Builder Punch. The cake stand was punched from some of the gorgeous Lovely Lipstick Foil.  We used the Blends pens to colour in the cake. We adhered them together with Dimensionals in the same way as the first card.

The cake was added to the stitched white rectangle, then to the stitched Early Espresso rectangle. We added the whole piece to the card front with the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The Basic Pearls were then coloured in and added to the card front.

We stamped the smaller ‘bokeh dot’ stamp from the Beauty Abounds in the lower right corner of the Whisper White panel in 3rd generation Lovely Lipstick and balmy Blue inks and in 4th generation Call Me Clover ink.

The sentiment was stamped in Lovely Lipstick ink although some of the ladies chose a different sentiment or no sentiment at all.

The cake was stamped in Early Espresso ink onto scrap Whisper White and punched out as above. We also punched out a plain white cake stand. The cake was coloured in using the same Blends pens as before and the cake and stand were adhered together with Dimensionals. The cake was then added on top of the ‘bokeh dots’.

The stamped layer was added to the strip of Lovely Lipstick Foil. The coloured Basic Pearls were added to the card front.

A watercolor male birthday card made using the Sale-a-Bration stamp set By the Bay

By the Bay for a Masculine Birthday card

Today I am sharing the card I made for my husband’s birthday. I used the Sale-a-Bration stamp set called By the Bay which has some lovely pencil style sketches on a seaside theme.

Making the By the Bay card

I started with a card base of Balmy Blue cardstock 8” by 7 ½” and scored it at 4” on the long side to make a long thin card.

A watercolor male birthday card made using the Sale-a-Bration stamp set By the Bay

www.crafty-rootes.com – A masculine birthday card made using the By the Bay stamp set

I cut a piece of Watercolor Paper 5¼” by 2” and inserted it into my Stamparatus. I placed the image of the group of seabirds onto the Water color Paper, closed the panel of the Stamparatus to pick up the stamp. I then inked the stamp with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped it down. Using the Stamparatus gives me the chance to re-stamp the image if it isn’t dark enough. I moved the stamp along the panel to give a row of birds and set it aside to dry.

www.crafty-rootes.com – A masculine birthday card made using the By the Bay stamp set

Using an Aqua painter I applied ink to color the image. I used Balmy Blue and Blueberry Bushel inks for the water, Gray Granite for the birds and Mossy Meadow for the background.

A very clean and simple card, hope you like it.

A Peter Rabbit Easter card for the Stamp 'n Hop blog hop challenge

Fable Friends Easter Stamp ‘n Hop

Hello and welcome to this month’s Stamp ‘n hop Blog Hop where the theme is Easter. If you have joined me from the lovely Sandra then welcome, my name is Mo Rootes and I live near Cambridge in the UK. I hope you enjoy my project.

Making the Easter card

I started by taking a piece of Window Sheet about 5 ½” by 3 ¾” and ran it through the Big Shot with the large die from the Doily Builder Die set.  This effectively created a stencil for me to use to make the background of the card.

A Peter Rabbit Easter card for the Stamp 'n Hop blog hop challenge

www.crafty-rootes.com – Stamp ‘n Hop Easter Challenge using Fable Friends

I laid the stencil onto a piece of Whisper White measuring 5⅛” by 3⅜” and holding it firmly in place I inked it up using So Saffron, Flirty Flamingo and Grapefruit Grove inks applied using  Sponge Daubers. I rounded the upper right corner using the Detailed Trio Punch and added the inked piece to a panel of So Saffron cardstock with the same corner rounded using Multipurpose liquid Adhesive.

A lovely girlie birthday card made using the Piece of Cke stamp set by STampin' Up!

Piece of Cake for GDP #179 challenge

Today I am sharing a cute card made for a friends’ birthday using the Piece of Cake stamp set and lovely girlie colours. Luckily this card works really well with this weeks’ GDP #179 challenge the theme of which is ‘sweeter than candy’.

Making the Card

I took a piece of Whisper White cardstock measuring 5⅞” by 2” and stamped 3 of the cute cake images randomly up the panel using Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I coloured in the images using my Flirty Flamingo, So Saffron and Grapefruit Grove Markers.

I added a panel of Whisper White measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝” to the inside of the card having stamped one of the cakes in the lower right corner. I stamped the same image onto the front of an envelope.

A sweet thank you card made using the Needle & Thread stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Quilted Needle & Thread

Today I am sharing a gorgeous card…..even if I say so myself, made using the Needle and Thread stamp set.

Making the Quilted card.

A sweet thank you card made using the Needle & Thread stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Quilted-Needle-&-Thread-by-Stampin’-Up!

I started with a panel of Soft Sea Foam measuring 5⅜” by 3⅝” and ran it through the Big Shot with the Tufted Embossing Folder. I wrapped a length of Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon around the embossed panel, securing it on the back with Sellotape. I added the panel to a Soft Sea Foam card base using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Using Shaded Spruce ink and scrap Whisper White cardstock I stamped the leaf image twice and cut them apart. I stamped the large and small flower in Berry Burst ink and the trio of small flowers in Blushing Bride ink and ran them through the Big Shot with the Needlepoint Elements dies.

I added the leaves and the large flower on Stampin’ Dimensionals in the lower left corner over the Polka Dot Ribbon and tucked the other flowers around using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I stamped the sentiment in Shaded Spruce ink onto a scrap of Soft Sea Foam and trimmed it out using my sharp scissors. I tucked it in under the leaves and flowers with a Mini Glue Dot. I added a bow in the Whisper White Polka Dot Tulle Ribbon below the flowers with a Mini Glue Dot. As a final touch I added a scattering of Share What You Love Artisan Pearls.

I think this is just such a sweet card and I love the Soft Sea Foam with the Berry Burst. I hope you like it
