A gorgeous trio of cards featuring Magnolia flowers for August classes

Good Morning Magnolia for August Classes

Today I am sharing the cards made at this month’s classes using the gorgeous Good Morning Magnolia stamp set and co-ordinating Magnolia Memory dies.

Raised Magnolia card – To recreate this card you will need:

Mossy Meadow card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Whisper White 5⅜” by 3⅝” – one for the inside, one for the outside
Whisper White 5½” by 3¾” – to stamp the magnolia on
Magnolia Lane dsp 3⅝” by 1½”

www.crafty-rootes.com -Good Morning Magnolia stamp set and Magnolia Memory dies used for August Classes

We stamped the Magnolia using the Stamparatus with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. After die cutting the scalloped edge from one of the Whisper White panels and stamping the decorative edge in Mossy Meadow we added the dsp to the bottom and adhered the panel to the card base. The flower was coloured using the following Blends markers Petal Pink combo, Mossy Meadow combo and Crumb Cake combo, it was then added to the card front on Dimensionals. There were a number of sentiments to choose from.

Inlaid Magnolia Card – To recreate this card you will need:

Thick Whisper White card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Early Espresso – 5⅝” by 3⅞”
Whisper White – 5½” by 3¾”
Scrap Whisper White for the sentiment

We stamped the magnolia using the Stamparatus with Memento Tuxedo Black ink. We die cut it out using the Magnolia Memory dies making sure to save all the pieces. The flower was coloured using the following Blends markers Petal Pink combo, Mossy Meadow combo and Crumb Cake combo. Dimensionals were added to the back of the side pieces and the first piece was added to the Early Espresso panel. The second piece was then added to the Early Espresso panel. Liquid Glue was then added to the back of the magnolia and it was inlaid between to 2 raised panels. Some of us opted to place only one of the panels which created a different look again.

Happy Birthday card – To recreate this card you will need:

Petal Pink card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded lower right corner
Mossy Meadow – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded lower right corner
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – x 2 – rounded lower right corner
Mossy Meadow – 3¾” by 1¼”
Whisper White – 3 ¾” by 1”

We used a T square ruler to mark off a 1” strip on one of the Whisper White panels. The magnolia bud was then stamped in Crumb Cake partly overlapping the marked off area, 3 times on the top and the same on the bottom. They were then coloured with the same Blends Markers. The panel was then added to the Mossy Meadow layer. The sentiment was stamped in Mossy Meadow ink on the Whisper White strip and glued to the Mossy Meadow strip. This was then trimmed to size and glued to the stamped panel.

Sailing Home in stormy seas

I have been on a mission recently trying to use more Designer Series Paper. Like many of my friends I buy the dsp, love it, stroke it but struggle to use it………. So here is a card I came up with using dsp from the See A Silhouette pack.

Night of Navy card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper right corner
Whisper White 5⅝” by 3⅞” – rounded upper right corner
See A Silhouette dsp 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper right corner
Whisper White 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper right corner for the inside
Scrap Whisper White

The lighthouse from the Sailing Home stamp set was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock. The lighthouse image was then die cut using the Smooth Sailing dies.

I cut a label using the Stitched Nested Label dies and stamped the sentiment in Night of Navy towards the bottom. The smaller boat was then stamped twice in the Night of Navy ink.

The larger boat was stamped in the same ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and die cut using the Smooth Sailing dies and coloured using the Seaside Spray combo, light Balmy Blue & light Night of Navy Blends Markers.

Using the 1” Circle Punch I punched circle from a PostIt Note and stuck it to the top of the stitched label. I sponged on some Blamy Blue ink using a Sponge Dauber then removed the punched circle and added some So Saffron ink again using a Sponge Dauber.

I added the 2 strips of Night of Navy cardstock to the card front having flagged the ends. The Stitched Label was then added over the top using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and the lager boat added on Dimensionals.

I stamped the larger boat in Night of Navy ink onto the Whisper White panel and added it to the inside of the card. The same image was stamped onto the front of the envelope.
