Welcome, this month for the Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop (try saying that fast when you are tired) we are focusing on the gorgeous items in the 2nd Sale-a-Bration release. Don’t you just love the chance to earn more amazing free goodies, I know I do.
I have chosen to use the Eclectic Expression stamp set for today’s blog hop. I have to admit this stamp set was not the first item I saw when I opened the brochure. It isn’t as flashy and obvious as the other options but I have come to love these more abstract sets. With a set like this I usually stamp everything out just to see what the images look like and how they relate to each other and here is what I came up with.
Method in my madness
I started with a piece of Whisper White cardstock 5⅞” by 2¼” and stamped the small spotted circle randomly leaving large gaps between each circle. I initially stamped in Pear Pizzazz ink but ended up changing this to Tranquil Tide. Taking the smaller of the ‘splotchy’ images I stamped around 2 of the spotty circles to form flower petals, slightly overlapping looks better. I repeat this using Daffodil Delight ink then Peakaboo Peach ink rotating the stamp to give the flowers a different look. Having decided I didn’t like the Pear Pizzazz I stamped the spotty circle again in Tranquil Tide ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and punched them out using the ½” Circle Punch. I added these to the centre of each flower using Tombow Liquid Adhesive.
I mounted the stamped panel onto a layer of Calypso Coral cardstock 5⅞” by 2 ½” using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I planned to add this panel to a Thick Whisper White card base but felt there was something missing. After a bit of faffing I took a strip of Daffodil Delight cardstock 5⅞” by ½”, punched it out using the Decorative Ribbon Border Punch and added it to the right side using Tombow Liquid Adhesive. I added the whole panel to the Thick Whisper White card base using Tombow.
I stamped the sentiment from the Badges & Banners Stamp set in Tranquil Tide ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and punched it out using the Duet Banner Punch. I used the same punch to punch a piece of Tranquil Tide cardstock which I added to the back to give a shadow effect. I added this to the card front using Tombow on the right and a Stampin’ Dimensional on the left. A scattering of Iridescent Sequins finished added a little sparkle to the card.
