I used the following Blends Markers to colour in the image – Mint Macaron combo, Daffodil Delight combo, Calypso Coral combo & Crumb Cake combo. I used the Big Shot and the co-ordinating Wonderful Floral to die cut the image.

The inspire Create #041 Sketch Challenge using the Hanging Garden stamp set by Stampin' Up!

Hanging Garden for the Inspire Create #041 Challenge

Today I am sharing a card made using the Hanging Garden stamp set for the Inspire Create #041 Challenge. The challenge this week is a sketch challenge, love these, they are great for pushing you out of your comfort zone.

The Colorful Seasons and Crackle Paint stamp sets used for a kissing technique card

Kissing Technique – Colorful Seasons

Every 2 weeks someone in the team writes a tutorial for our team facebook page and this time it is my turn, Today I am sharing the card I made using the Colorful Seasons stamp set and the Kissing Technique.

To re-create the kissing technique card you will need ;

Petal Pink card base – 8 ¼” by 5⅞” – scored and folded at 4⅛” – upper left hand corner rounded
Blackberry Bliss 5⅞” by 2¼”
Whisper White 5⅞ by 2
Whisper White 5⅝” by 3⅞” – for the inside

The Colorful Seasons and Crackle Paint stamp sets used for a kissing technique card

www.crafty-rootes.com – A ‘kissing technique’ card made using the Colorful Seasons and Crackle Paint stamp sets.

I began by inking up the large Crackle Paint stamp with Blackberry Bliss ink. I find it easier to do this if I place the stamp face up on my work top and take the ink to the stamp rather than the stamp to the ink.

The Colorful Seasons and Crackle Paint stamp sets used for a kissing technique card

www.crafty-rootes.com – A ‘kissing technique’ card made using the Colorful Seasons and Crackle Paint stamp sets.

I then inked up the solid maple leaf image with Petal Pink ink and carefully ’kissed’ the 2 stamps together picking up some of the Blackberry Bliss onto the Petal Pink image. I stamped the leaf image onto the long strip of Whisper White cardstock.

I repeated these steps until the whole Whisper White strip was covered.

I used the Decorative Ribbon Border punch to decorate the right hand edge of the larger Blackberry Bliss layer and glued it to the back of the stamped panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

The sentiment from the Beach Happy stamp set was stamped in Blackberry Bliss onto the smallest Whisper White piece of cardstock. This was then adhered with the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to the small Blackberry Bliss piece and the end was bannered using sharp scissors. The piece was then added to the card front with the same adhesive.

I stamped the same maple leaf image, inked up in the same way, to the largest Whisper White panel and adhered it to the inside of the card base using the liquid glue.

This technique works with most solid image stamps paired with a more detailed stamp. It works best if the solid image is inked up with a lighter colour and the more detailed image with a darker colour. I love the effect this gives and you can get some very quirky images. I hope you like the card.

A masculine card made using the Geared Up Garage stamp set and Garage Gears dies

Garage Gears for a masculine card

Today I am sharing a masculine card made using the Garage Gears dies and the Geared Up Garage stamp set. Many of us find masculine cards a challenge but this set makes it easy to make great cards for the men in your life.

Making the Garage Gears card

You will need;
Cherry Cobbler card base
Whisper White cardstock – 5⅝” by 3⅞” x 2
Basic Black 4” by 3”
Silver Foil scrap
Bermuda Bay 2” by 1½”
Whisper White strip 3½” by ½”

I began by die cutting the large group of cogs and gears using the Big Shot and the Garage Gears dies. I used Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to add these to one of the Whisper White panels. This panel was added to the Cherry Cobbler card Base with the same adhesive.

A masculine card made using the Geared Up Garage stamp set and Garage Gears dies

www.crafty-rootes.com – a masculine card made using the Geared Up Garage stamp set and Garage Gears dies by Stampin’ Up

I stamped the tool box using the Stamparatus, Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the Bermuda Bay cardstock. I wanted to get a really intense black image and the Stamparatus usually works best as you can stamp repeatedly in the same spot. The image was then die cut using the Big Shot and the same die set. It was added to the Whisper White panel on Dimensionals.

A sweet card made using new product from the up-coming 2019 - 2020 Annual Catalogue

Sneak Peek Daisy Lane

Today I am sharing a sneak peek card made using some of the new products I received at OnStage last weekend. I love getting new product to play with and made this card for a team sketch challenge.

Making the Daisy lane card

You will need;
Mint Macaron card base
Whisper White 5⅝” by 3⅞” x 2 – rounded upper left corner – 1 for the inside
Flirty Flamingo 4 ¼” by 2” – rounded lower right corner
Whisper White 4⅛” by 1⅞” – rounded lower right corner
Scrap strips of Mint Macaron, Flirty Flamingo & Smoky Slate
Scrap Whisper for stamping a daisy and sentiment

I began by stamping the stem and leaves in Mint Macaron ink onto the smaller panel of Whisper White cardstock. I added the daisy head in Flirty Flamingo ink. I didn’t like the way I had stamped the daisy head and ended up stamping it again onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and fussy cutting it out. It was added to the stamped layer on dimensionals. The panel was then added to the Flirty Flamingo cardstock using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

A sweet card made using new product from the up-coming 2019 - 2020 Annual Catalogue

www.crafty-rootes.com – A sneak peek card made using the new Daisy Lane and Birch stamp sets by Stampin’ Up!

Next I inked up the Birch background stamp using Smoky Slate ink, I find it easier to lay these large background stamps face up on the grid paper before inking them up and laying the cardstock on top. I used one of the larger panels of Whisper White cardstock for this. I really like the birch markings of this stamp; it adds a great bit of texture to the card. I added the birch stamped panel to the front of the Mint Macaron card base using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Doily Builder Swaps for OnStage

Today I am sharing the swaps I made using the gorgeous Doily Builder dies for this weekend’s OnStage event in Telford. This is a demonstrator only event where we get to meet friends, see new product, play with new stuff and generally have a lot of fun.

Making the Doily Builder card swap

Swaps for OnStage made using the gorgeous Doily Builder dies by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – A glorious Spring coloured card front using the Doily Builder dies by Stampin’ Up!

You will need;
Window Sheet 5⅜” by 3⅝”
Whisper White cardstock 5⅛” by 3½” – Rounded upper right corner
Either Coastal Cabana, Flirty Flamingo or So Saffron cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” – Rounded upper right corner
Scraps of Coastal Cabana, Flirty Flamingo, So Saffron cardstock, Whisper White & Gray Granite cardstock for die cutting and punching

I began by cutting the large doily into the Window sheet using my Big Shot. This gave me a sturdy stencil that could be used multiple times over.

I placed the mask onto the Whisper White panel, holding it in place with my finger. I inked up the stencil using So Saffron, Flirty Flamingo and Coastal Cabana inks in random orders. I moved the stencil and repeated again using the colours randomly.

I stamped the sentiment in Gray Granite ink onto scrap Whisper White and punched it out using the Classic Label punch. This was added to the stamped panel on Dimensionals.

When the image had dried I coloured it in using the following Blends Pens – Granny Apple Green combo and Poppy Parade combo. This is such a lovely image to colour.

I stamped the sentiment from the Beautiful Bouquet stamp set in Granny Apple Green ink. This panel was then added to the Granny Apple Green panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

Using the Detailed Trio Punch I punched the upper right corner of the narrower card front panel and adhered the stamped panel to it using Dimensionals.

I glued a strip of Wood Textures Designer Series Paper (dsp) to the back panel of the card front with the same Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. Finally I added a trio of Red Rhinestones to the card front and stamped the rose in Granny Apple Green ink onto the Envelope.

Lovely floral card made using the First Frost stamp set and Frosted Bouquet dies by Stampin' Up!

First Frost for April Classes

Today I am sharing the cards made at this week’s classes using the First Frost Stamp set and co-ordinating Frosted Bouquet Dies.

Faux Silk Technique card

www.crafty-rootes.com – A gorgeous card made using the First Frost stamp set and the faux silk technique

You will need;
Berry Burst card base – rounded upper left corner
Lemon Lime Twist 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper left corner
Whisper White 5⅜” by 3⅝ x 2 -rounded upper left corner
Tissue Paper 5¾” by 4”
Adhesive Sheet 5¾” by 4”
Scrap Whisper White

We used the Fresh Fig and Lemon Lime Twist Markers to colour in the stamp, huffed on the inked stamp to re-moisten the drying ink and stamped it onto one of the Whisper White panels. We then stamped the larger flower in Berry Burst ink and the smaller flower in Balmy Blue ink onto the scrap Whisper White.

The 2 stamped flowers were then die cut using the Frosted Bouquet dies. The ladies then chose a sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set, stamped it in Fresh Fig ink onto the scrap Whisper White and punched it out using the Classic Label Punch.

We peeled off the protective backing from the adhesive sheet and laid it, sticky side down onto the stamped panel taking care not to stick it to the grid paper underneath!  We trimmed the excess adhesive sheet using sharp scissors. The scissors were then cleaned with alcohol to remove the glue.

We crumpled the tissue paper into a ball then carefully unfolded it leaving many of the wrinkles. The tissue paper was then laid over the sticky stamped panel and pressed into position; the over-hanging tissue was then trimmed away. The flowers were then added with Liquid Glue or Dimensionals and the sentiment added over top.

This layer was then glued to the Lemon Lime Twist panel using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The panel was added to the Berry Burst card front with Dimensionals.

We stamped a flower on the inside panel and the envelope and added a scattering of Iridescent Sequins to complete the card.

The Wishing You Well card

You will need;
Lemon Lime Twist card base
Berry Burst 5¼” by 3½” – Rounded upper left corner
Whisper White 5⅜” by 3⅝ – for the inside – Rounded upper left corner
Whisper White 5⅛” by 3⅜” – for the card front –Rounded upper left corner
Fresh Fig 3” by 2”
Scrap Whisper White

Using the scrap Whisper White cardstock we stamped  2 of the leafy images in Lemon Lime Twist, 2 small flowers in Balmy Blue, 1 Berry Burst rose and 2 thistles in Fresh Fig. These images were all then die cut using the Big Shot and the Frosted Bouquet dies.

The sentiment from the First Frost stamp set was stamped in Fresh Fig ink onto the smaller piece of Whisper White and this piece was then die cut using the label dies along with the slightly larger Fresh Fig label. They were then glued together with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and added to the Whisper White panel with Dimensionals.

The die cut pieces were then arranged around the label using a combination of Dimensionals and Liquid Adhesive. We cut the leafy images down to give a fuller look and there was a lot of debate about whether the thistle image looked more like beetles or spiders!!!

The decorated panel was added to the Berry Burst layer with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and then glued to the Lemon Lime Twist card base with the same adhesive.

We stamped a couple of the leaf or flower images onto the inside Whisper White layer and the envelope an added a scattering of sequins.

The Faux Masked card

Lovely floral card made using the First Frost stamp set and Frosted Bouquet dies by Stampin' Up!

www.crafty-rootes.com – A gorgeous floral card made using the First Frost stamp set

You will need;
Balmy Blue card base – Rounded lower right corner
Fresh Fig 5 ½” by 3 ¾” – Rounded lower right corner
Whisper White 5⅜” by 3⅝” x 2 – 1 for the inside and 1 for the card front – Rounded lower right corners
Fresh Fig 3⅝” by 1 ½”
Whisper White 3⅝” by 1⅜”

We lined up one of the larger Whisper White panels on the grid paper making sure it was straight. We laid the 1⅜” strip of Whisper White on top and drew pencil lines on either side. This gave us the area on the panel that we needed to added images to.

We began by stamping the largest image, in this case the Berry Burst flower above the top pencil line and below the lower line making sure to overlap the lines.

We then stamped the leafy images in lemon Lime Twist, the small flowers in Balmy Blue and finally the thistles (beetles or spiders!) in Fresh Fig. The pencil lines were then rubbed out.

The sentiment from the Perennial Birthday stamp set was stamped in Fresh Fig ink onto the Whisper White strip and the strip was then glued to the Fresh Fig strip with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. This piece was then added to the stamped panel with Dimensionals.

This piece was then glued to the Fresh Fig layer then to the Balmy Blue layer with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. To finish the card off we stamped a couple of the leaf or flower images onto the inside Whisper White layer and the envelope an added a scattering of sequins.
