Square Bottomed, Pinched Top Bag for the Stamper’s Showcase Blog Hop

Welcome to this month’s Stamper’s Showcase Blog Hop where our theme is ‘3D items’. If you have hopped over from the lovely Sharleen Luciano I am sure you loved her project.

I have made many of these square bottomed, pinch topped bags over the years. They are so versatile and can be sized up or down very easily. They can also be made with designer series paper as an alternative.

To recreate the Square Bottomed, Pinch Topped Bag you will need;

Whisper White 2¾” by 2¾” inches scored at ⅜” on all 4 sides
Whisper White 8¼” by 4½”
Scrap Whisper White for the tag

www.crafty-rootes.com – A sweet square bottomed, pinched top bag using the Grandma’s House stamp set for the Stamper’s Showcase Blog Hop

Ifter scoring the square piece of Whisper White cardstock I cut up the 4 corner squares to form tabs and adhered the tabs with Tear and Tape to form the base of the bag. Normally I would adhere the tabs to the outside of the base as they are then hidden when you wrap the side panel around the base but this time I forgot………… !

I stamped the sweet flowers form the Grandma’s House stamp set in a row all across the bottom of the large panel of Whisper White using Memento Tuxedo Black ink.

I coloured in the flowers using the following Blends Markers –  Lovely Lipstick combo, Granny Apple Green combo, Call Me Clover combo, So Saffron combo & Soft Flirty Flamingo combo

I added Tear and Tape to the back of the stamped layer, along the bottom and down one side. I removed the protective cover from the bottom piece of tape and starting from the middle of one side slowly wrapped the panel around the base.

The protective cover was then removed from Tear and Tape up the side and the 2 edges pressed together. They bow out slightly which is normal.

Pinching the top together in the centre I punched 2 holes using my ⅛” hand held circle punch, sadly retired. I fed through some Lovely Lipstick ⅛” Grosgrain Ribbon and tied a bow.

For the tag I masked off 2 of the flowers with a postit note and stamped the remaining flower in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I coloured in the flower with the same Blends Markers and added the sentiment from the Above the Clouds stamp set in the same ink. This was then punched out with the Pretty Label Punch.

The tag was added to the bag with some White Baker’s Twine. Such a pretty little gift bag. I hope you like it.

Please hop on and see what the talented Deb Naylor has to share with us.

We glued one of the Whisper White layers to the Bermuda Bay layer and adhered these to the Soft Sea Foam card base.

We stamped the flower in Cherry Cobbler ink onto the Poppy Parade cardstock and die cut it out using the Beautiful Layers dies. We also die cut the doily from the square of Soft Sea Foam and also die cut a leaf from scrap Granny Apple Green cardstock.

The sentiment was stamped in Bermuda Bay onto scrap Whisper White and punched out using a 1” Circle Punch. This was then added to the centre of the doily. The doily was added to the front of the card. The flower was added to the card on dimensionals and covered with Clear Wink of Stella.

We stamped the gorgeous striped floweronto the longer panel of Whisper White ink in Poppy Parade, Bermuda Bay and Granny Apple Green inks then filled in the gaps with the leaf image in 2nd generation Granny Apple Green ink.

The Poppy Parade strip was then added to the left hand side and the ribbon wrapped around and secured on the back with Sellotape.

The sentiment was stamped in Poppy Parade ink and punched out with the Timeless Label Punch. A leaf was stamped over the sentiment in 2nd generation Granny Apple Green ink. We punched out another label in Poppy Parade cardstock, cut it down the middle and glued it to the back of the sentiment so that a little red showed at either end. This was added over the top of the ribbon on Dimensionals. We added a couple of die cut leaves.

The whole panel was then added to the Bermuda bay card base.

The Square Topper Card

Soft Sea Foam card base 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded lower left corner

Scrap Whisper White

Pretty floral cards made using the Beautiful Promenade stamp set and Beautiful Layers dies

www.crafty-rootes.com – Beautiful Promenade stamp set and Beautiful Layers dies used for June classes

We stamped the frame in Granny Apple Green ink onto the small square of Whisper White and added the floral piece at the top in the same ink. The same floral image was then stamped twice on the scrap Whisper White in Poppy Parade ink and the flowers were then fussy cut using scissors and glued over the green flowers. Some of us inked around the flower edges with Poppy Parade ink and a sponge dauber.

The sentiment was added to the stamped frame and the stamped panel was then glued to the Bermuda Bay square.

Using a T square ruler and a pencil we drew a line down the front of the Soft Sea Foam card base. The rhomboid image was then stamped repeatedly  down the pencil line in Bermuda Bay ink and added a line of rhomboids to the right of the original line. When the ink was dry the pencil line was erased. The square topper was then placed over the top on dimensionals.

All the cards were decorated with Red Rhinestones or Basic Rhinestones coloured in with a dark Poppy Parade Blends Marker.

I really like the colour palette of these cards. I hope you like them.

Today I am hopping along with the fabulous Stamp ‘n Hop blog hoppers. If you have hopped over from the lovely Laura or started  the blog hop with me…..welcome and enjoy the hop. Our theme this month is ‘Hello to the new catalogue’.

I knew exactly which stamp set I wanted to use as I fell in love with the sweet row of birds from the new Free As A Bird stamp set, I couldn’t wait to see if I could make them look like robins, we Brits love a robin. So I have made my first Christmas card of the year……. I know…….sorry……

Terracotta Tile cardstock – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper right corner
Mosiac Mood dsp 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper right corner
Whisper White cardstock 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper right corner – for the inside

A gorgeou,s soft floral card made using the Bloom & Grow stamp set and the ghost stamping technique

Bloom & Grow and the ghost stamping technique

Today I am sharing a card made using the new Bloom and Grow stamp set and co-ordinating Budding Blooms dies. I saw a video by TheStampDoc –  where she used this set with a technique called ‘ghost stamping’ and I thought I would give it a try.

To recreate the Bloom & Grow card you will need;

Melon Mambo card base
Gray Granite 5⅜” by 3⅝”
Whisper White 5⅜” by 3⅝” x 2
Scrap Whisper White for the sentiment

I stamped the floral image onto the Gray Granite cardstock panel in Versamark ink and covered it with White Embossing Powder…….and yes, I did use my embossing buddy first. I heat set the powder with my Heat Tool and set it aside to cool.

Using the Budding Blooms dies I cut only the top half of the image by careful positioning of the cutting plates of my die cutting machine.

I added a couple of drops of Whisper White reinker to an acrylic bloc and added a drop of water with my Aqua Painter. I coloured in the whole image using the White ink and set it aside to dry.

I cleaned the ink off the acrylic block and added a drop of each of the following reinkers; Gorgeous Grape, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green and Melon Mambo. I used my Aqua Painter to colour in the flowers and leaves.

I added the Gray Granite panel to the Whisper White layer and trimmed the excess cardstock away. The Gorgeous Grape Striped Ribbon was then wrapped around the panel and adhered with Sellotape on the back. The panel was then added to the Melon Mambo card base with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I stamped the sentiment in Melon Mambo ink onto scrap Whisper White cardstock and die cut it using the Rectangle Stitched dies. I ran it through twice to make a smaller label. This was added to the card front with Dimensionals. I added a bow in the same ribbon.

Thank you to the StampDoc for the inspiration, I really love this technique, it looks so pretty. I hope you like it.
