A sweet bee themed hank you card featuring the Honey Bee stamp set and Detailed Bee dies by Stampin' Up!

Honeycomb Hive

Today I am sharing a sweet Honeycomb hive card inspired by a gorgeous card I saw on Pinterest a while ago. The original card was made by Libby Dyson, a demo from Australia – click on her name to see her original.

To recreate the Honeycomb Hive card you will need:

Thick Whisper White card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝”
Tropical Oasis dsp – 3½” by 3½”
Scrap Whisper White

I began by die cutting the hive shape from the Whisper White panel using the Detailed Bee dies. I also die cut the honeycomb from scrap Whisper White.

www.crafty-rootes.co.uk – A pretty thank you card made using the Honey Bee stamp set and Detailed Bee dies

Using Crushed Curry ink and my Stamparatus I stamped the hive image on the piece of Tropical Oasis dsp – I chose the pineapple print – I just wanted a subtle pattern to show through the ink. I glued the stamped dsp to the card front after working out the position of the negative hive space.

The honeycomb piece was glued to the back of the Whisper White panel over the negative space using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The whole panel was then added to the card front on Dimensionals.

The flower sprigs were inked up using the Granny Apple Green and Flirty Flamingo Markers before being stamped on scrap Whisper White and die cut. The sprigs were added to the card front with liquid Adhesive.

I stamped the larger bee in Memento Tuxedo Black ink onto scrap White card and die cut it out. The stripes were coloured using the dark Daffodil Delight Blends Marker and the bee added to the card front with liquid glue.

The sentiment from the Itty Bitty Greetings stamp set was stamped in the same black ink, punched out with the Classic Label Punch and added to the card front with liquid glue. I added Clear Wink of Stella to the bee’s wings and a trio of Holiday Rhinestones to complete the card.

A floral birthday card using the Beautiful Bouquet and Perennial Birthday stamp sets by Stampin' Up!

Goodbye to the 2019 – 2020 catalogue

Hello and welcome to the May Stamp ‘N Hop blog hop where our theme is ‘Goodbye to the 2019 – 2020 Catalogue’.  If you have joined me from the lovely Libby Dyson, I am sure you loved her project.

There are so many lovely things which are retiring that I was spoilt for choice. In fact everything I have used will be retiring from the catalogue with the exception of the Whisper White card stock!

To recreate the Goodbye to the 2019 – 2020 Catalogue card you will need:

Grapefruit Grove card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper right corner
Blueberry Bushel – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper right corner
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper right corner – one for the inside
Blueberry Bushel – 5” by 1⅛”
Whisper White – 5” by 1”

I began by stamping the sentiment from the Perennial Birthday stamp set in Lovely Lipstick ink. I love the size and the font of this Happy Birthday, I will miss it. I placed the stamped sentiment strip at an angle onto one of the larger Whisper White panels and lightly drew down each side in pencil to give me a guide to where I should stamp my flowers.

I removed the sentiment piece and glued it to the thin strip of Blueberry Bushel card using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive and set it to one side.

With this type of masked card I also start by stamping the largest images and working may way down to the smallest images which I use to fill in. I used the 5 retiring 2018 – 2020 In Colors to stamp my images – they were stamped in this order Pineapple Punch, Grapefruit Grove, Lovely Lipstick, Call Me Clover and Blueberry Bushel. I used the gorgeous Beautiful Bouquet set for this part of the card. I am so going to miss this set, love all the flowers and the huge number of great sentiments.

A pretty thank you card made using the baby swipe technique and the Tropical Chic stamp set

Tropical Chic with the baby swipe technique

Today I am sharing a pretty card made using the Tropical Chic stamp set and the Tropical Thinlit dies and a piece of Whisper White card that I coloured using the baby swipe technique. This is a technique shared by Barry and Jay of Mitosu Crafts

To recreate the Tropical Chic baby swipe card you will need:

Thick Whisper White card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Basic Black – 3¾” by 2⅞”
Whisper White – 3⅝” by 2¾”
Scrap Basic Black & Whisper White

The small panel of Whisper White was coloured using the Baby Swipe technique. I folded a baby wipe in half and placed it on an I block. I added 3 drops of Pineapple Punch re-inker, 3 dots of Grapefruit Grove re-inker, 3 dots of Real Red re-inker and a dot of Blueberry Bushel re-inker. I smudged them together using the edge of a smaller block – as demonstrated by Barry. I then swiped the baby wipe, wrapped around the block across the card stock panel. This gives such a cool effect.

When the inked panel was dry I placed it in the Stamparatus and covered it with the 3 leaf stamps from the Tropical Chic stamp set. I picked the stamps up with the clear panel. I inked up the stamps with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped the images onto the panel. I really wanted the leaves to be very black so repeated this step three times.

This panel was then mounted onto the Basic Black layer using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I die cut some of the leaves from crap Basic Black card using the Tropical Thinlits dies. These were added to the front of the Thick Whisper White card base using the same liquid glue.

The sentiment was stamped in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and the inked layer was then added to the card front on Dimensionals. I stamped and die cut one of the pretty hibiscus flowers with the Grapefruit Grove ink and added it to the corner with a dimensionals.

I hope you like the card and thank you again to Barry and Jay of Mitosu Crafts for the inspiration.
