Ornate Layer dies and Ornate Style stamp set used for a pretty birthday card

Ornate Birthday

Today I am sharing a sweet ornate birthday card made using the gorgeous Ornate Style stamp set and the co-ordinating Ornate Layers dies. I made this card for a friend whose favourite colour is green.

To recreate the ornate birthday card you will need:

Soft Sea Foam card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Garden Green – 5¼” by 4”
Soft Sea Foam – 4¼” by 3”
Whisper White – 2½” by 2¾”
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝”

I began by stamping the large floral stamp in Soft Sea Foam ink in the upper left and lower right corners of the Soft Sea Foam card base to give a bit of tone on tone interest.

I used the Ornate layers dies to cut out the detailed frame from the Garden Green and added it to the card front on Dimensionals.

The Stitched So Sweetly dies were used to cut out 2 scalloped rectangles, one in Soft Sea Foam and the other in Whisper White.

Using Post It Notes I masked off the lower left corner of the white rectangle and stamped the large floral image in Garden Green ink. The sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set was stamped in Garden Green ink. I used the Soft Sea Foam combination of Blends Markers to colour in the flower.

The stamped white rectangle was glued to the Soft Sea Foam rectangle using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The same glue was used to adhere these layers to the ornate Garden Green rectangle. I added a trio of Holiday Rhinestones to complete the card.

Sunflower Birthday

Today I am sharing a fun fold sunflower birthday card made for my aunts 80^th birthday earlier this week.

To recreate the Sunflower Birthday card you will need:

Thick Whisper White – 11” by 4⅛” – scored at 5½” – rounded upper left corner
Early Espresso – 11” by 1¼” scored at 2¾”, 5½ & 8¼”
In Good Taste dsp – 5⅜ by 4” x 4
Old Olive – 4¾” by 3½” x 2
Old Olive – 3⅜” by 2½” x 4
Whisper White – 4½” by 3¼” x 2
Whisper White – 3⅛” by 2¼”

Front panel

Using the Detailed Trio Punch I rounded the upper left corner of one of the dsp panels and adhered it to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

The large sunflowers from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set were stamped on one of the larger Whisper White panels in Early Espresso ink. The leaves were added in Old Olive ink. The images were coloured using the following Blends Markers – Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Crumb Cake & Seaside Spray.

The upper left corner of the stamped panel was rounded. Also one of the Old Olive panels and the two panels were glued together with the liquid adhesive. The sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set was stamped on scrap In Good Taste dsp in Versamark ink, covered with White Embossing Powder and heat set using the Heat Tool. I trimmed it out with Scissors and glued it to the card front.

1^St inside panel

I rounded the the upper right corner of another of the dsp panels and adhered it inside the card on the left. I adhered the first 2¾” panel of the Early Espresso strip to the inside front panel.

The smaller sunflower was stamped in Early Espresso ink and coloured using the following Blends Markers – Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Crumb Cake & Seaside Spray. The stamped panel was added to one of the small Old Olive layers and adhered to the 1¼” strip of Early Espresso.

2^nd inside panel

The sunflowers from the Jar of Flowers stamp set was stamped in Early Espresso ink. I placed a mask over the bottom of the flowers and stamped the outline of the small jar in Early Espresso ink and the inside was added using the reverse of the stamp in 2^nd generation Pool Party ink.

The image was the coloured using the following Blends Markers – Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Crumb Cake, Seaside Spray Purple Posy. The corners were punched and the panels glued together with the liquid adhesive. The whole piece was added to the Early Espresso strip.

I rounded the the upper left corner of another of the dsp panels and adhered it inside the card on the right. I adhered the last 2¾” panel of the Early Espresso strip to the inside front panel.

The sunflowers from the Jar of Flowers stamp set were stamped in Early Espresso ink and coloured using the following Blends Markers – Mango Melody, Daffodil Delight, Old Olive, Crumb Cake & Seaside Spray. The stamped panel was added to an Old Olive panel and adhered to the Early Espresso strip.

4^th inside panel

The small sunflowers from the Celebrate Sunflowers stamp set were stamped in Early Espresso and coloured with the Blends Markers mentioned above.

I stamped the 80 from the Family Party stamp set in Early Espresso ink and added the happy birthday in the same ink. The stamped panel was adhered to the remaining small Old Olive panel and then to the Early Espresso strip.

Back Panel

Using the Detailed Trio Punch I rounded the upper right corner of the final dsp panels and adhered it to the card front using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. I added the last Old Olive layer.

I stamped the sunflower in one colour asnd coloured it as before. I left plenty of room to write a message. In fact I was so keen to write my message I forgot to photograph the panel first……..numpty…..

I really hope my aunt likes the card.

Water Coloured Peony

I have made a sweet water coloured peony card made using the gorgeous Prized Peony and the new Water Painter’s and I love them!!

To recreate the Water coloured Peony card you will need:

Gray Granite card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛”
Granny Apple Green – 5⅞” by 1⅞”
Daffodil Delight – 5⅞” by ½”
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper left corner
Shimmery White – 5” by 3 ¼” – rounded upper left corner

I began by running the piece of Granny Apple Green card through my embossing machine in the Tin Tile embossing folder and adhered it to the Gray Granite card base with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

The large peony image was inked up using the Daffodil Delight Marker for the flower and Granny Apple Green Marker for the stem and leaves. I love that we can use the markers in this way. The image was stamped onto the Shimmery White panel. Using the Water Painters I coloured in the flower using only the ink on the stamped image. I did the same for the leaves and stems.

After the image dried I started adding Mango Melody ink to the shaded areas of the flower with the small Water Painter. This gives more definition to the flower. I left the panel to dry completely.

Using the dark Granny Apple Green I coloured in a strip of Whisper White Crinkle Ribbon and let it dry. The ribbon was then wrapped around the stamped panel and a bow added with a Glue Dot.

I die cut the border from the Daffodil Delight card using the Ornate Borders dies and used the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to glue it to the back of the stamped panel, trimming off the excess with scissors.

The sentiment from the Prized Peony stamp set was stamped at the bottom of the panel in Granny Apple Green ink. I then added a scattering of Holiday Rhinestones to finish the card.

Jar of Flowers for Stamper’s Showcase Blog Hop

Thank you for hopping over to my blog today where the Stamper’s Showcase bloggers are sharing projects made with products from the new 2020 – 2021 annual catalogue. I have chosen to use the lovely Jar of Flowers stamp set, without the jar!

To recreate the Jar of Flowers card you will need:

Mango Melody card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – Rounded upper right corner
Cherry Cobbler – 5½” by 3¾” – Rounded upper right corner
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – Rounded upper right corner x 2 – one for the inside
Whisper White – 5½” by 2½”

I stamped the sunflower image down the left side of one of the smaller Whisper White panels in Basic Gray ink.

The image was then coloured in using the following Blends Markers – Mango Melody combo, Cherry Cobbler combo, Granny Apple Green combo, light Soft Suede, dark Crumb Cake, light So Saffron, dark Calypso Coral & color lifter.

I used the light Pool Party Blends Marker and the color lifter to feather the edge of the image,

I cut one of the detailed bands from the thinner panel of Whisper White card and stamped the sentiment from the Peaceful Moments stamp set in Cherry Cobbler ink. I wrapped either end of the die cut band around the stamped panel and adhered on the back with Mini Glue Dots.

The speckles were added by smacking the Clear Wink of Stella brush against a pen, so sparkly…..

Seaside Spray 2 ½” by ½”

The In Good Taste designer series paper was glued to the Seaside Spray card base using the Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I stamped the 3 cute zebras across the smaller Very Vanilla panel in Memento Tuxedo Black ink. I used the dark Calypso Coral Blends Marker to accentuate the strips on the Zebras.

The sweet stars were stamped in Seaside Spray ink. I added a little ‘ground’ under each Zebra with a Crumb Cake Blends Marker.

The stamped panel was added onto the Terracotta Tile layer with the liquid adhesive and the whole panel was mounted on the card front with Dimensionals.

I stamped the sentiment from the Zany Zebras stamp set in Early Espresso ink onto the Seaside Spray strip and added it to the card front with the liquid glue.

Fold Over Top Gift Bag

Here is a sweet little fold over top gift bag made using the Ornate Garden Designer Series Paper (dsp). You can fit 2 Fererro Roche chocolates in the bag……..yum. This sweet little box is so easy to make and such a handy size. This was made for the Hopping Around the World blog hop where the theme is 3D. If you have hopped over from Rachel Macleod I am sure you loved her project. You are currently visiting Mo Rootes in the UK.

To recreate the Fold Over Top Gift bag you will need:

Ornate Garden dsp – 8½” by 6”
Scrap Whisper White

I began by using my Simply Scored Scoring Tool to score the Ornate Garden dsp. The long side was scored at 2”, 4”, 6” and 8” and the short side at 1¾” & 5”.

Using Scissors I cut off the top and bottom small rectangles leaving the central tab. Then I cut up each of the 1¾” rectangles to form tabs for the bottom of the box. The 1” strip of dsp was trimmed off except the last rectangle next to the narrow tab.

The score lines were then folded and burnished. Tear and Tape was then added to the thin side tab and the box was closed. I folded three of the bottom tabs in and added Tear and Tape to the fourth before folding it down and sealing the bottom closed.

The back and front of the bag were then pinched together and the 1” strip folded over to form the closure.

I wrapped the lovely Old Olive Ribbon around the bag and tied a bow towards the top, this will hold the bag closed.

I stamped the sentiment from the Lovely You stamp set in Terracotta Tile ink and cut it out using the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. It was added to the flap closure, just under the bow with a Glue Dot.

Whale Done

Oh my goodness, I love the new Whale Done stamp set and co-ordinating Whale Builder Punch, it is just adorable.

To recreate the Whale card you will need:

Seaside Spray card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper right corner
Night of Navy – 5 ½” by 3 ¾” – rounded upper right corner
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper right corner x 2
Scrap Whisper White

I took one of the Whisper White panels, inked up the ‘hydrangea’ image from the Beautiful Friendship stamp set using Sponge Daubers and Pool Party, Seaside Spray, Balmy Blue and Pear Pizzazz inks. The colours were applied randomly over the surface of the stamp to gi ve a mottled effect. This was stamped full strength and 2^nd generation all over the Whisper White panel.

The long fronds of seaweed from the Whale Done stamp set were stamped on the same panel in Garden Green ink. The ‘coral’ image was stamped in Pretty Peacock ink along the bottom of the piece.

I added the groups of fish in Bumblebee ink. The stamped panel was then added to the Night of Navy layer using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. The whole panel was added to the Seaside Spray card base with the same adhesive.

I stamped the whale in Night of Navy ink on scrap Whisper White card and punched it out using the Whale Builder Punch. The whale was added to the card front on Dimensionals.

The sentiment from the Whale Done stamp set was stamped onto scrap Whisper White in Garden Green ink. I masked of the words ‘a ton’ with a Post It Note before inking up. I trimmed the sentiment down with scissors and added it with liquid adhesive to the card front.

Camilla’s Birthday card

It was my daughter Camilla’s birthday yesterday, she was 30………how did she get to be that old! Camilla is not a really girlie girl, loves the outdoors, climbing, diving, walking etc so I made her a cute card based around these things.

To recreate Camilla’s birthday card you will need:

Crumb Cake card stock – 11” by 4⅛” – scored on the longside at 5½”
Crumb Cake card stock – 11” by 1” – scored on the longside at 2¾”, 5½” & 8¼”
In Good Taste dsp – 5¼” by 3⅞” x 4
Shaded Spruce – 4 ¾” by 3⅜” x 2
Shaded Spruce – 3⅜” by 2½” x 4
Whisper White – 4½” by 3⅛” x 2
Whisper White – 3⅛ by 2¼” x 4
Scrap Early Espresso and Gold Foil

I began by using Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive to glue the 4 panels of dsp to the 4 sides of the large Crumb Cake panel. This forms the main structure of the card. I added the 2 large Shaded Spruce panels to the front and back of the card using the same glue.

I added the 1”strip of Crumb Cake card stock to the inside panels using liquid glue. The glue was only added to the 2 end pieces.

The front panel of the card was created using one of the larger panels of Whisper White and the Mountain Air stamp set. I love this set, it is so versatile. I stamped with Crumb Cake ink, Shaded Spruce ink, Mossy Meadow ink and Pool Party ink. The sky was sponged in using the Balmy Blue ink and the moon was masked using a ¾” circle punched from a Post It Note. The stamped panel was glued to one of large Shaded Spruce panels and added to the card front using the same liquid adhesive.

I took one of the smaller Whisper White and stamped the lighthouse from the Sailing Home stamp set in Crumb Cake ink. The sky was sponged in Balmy Blue and I sponged a little Crumb Cake around the base of the light house. The panel was added to one of the small Shaded Spruce panel and added to the left hand inside panel.

The 2^nd Whisper White panel was stamped using the Do The Impossible stamp set which has sadly retired. I stamped the runners again onto a Post It Note, trimmed it out using sharp scissors and used it to masked off the runners. I then stamped the mountains, trees and water using the Mountain Air stamp set. The runners were coloured using using Highland Heather, Mossy Meadow, Pool Party, Crumb Cake, Basic Black, Ivory & Bronze Blends markers. The stamped layer was then glued to small Shaded Spruce panel then to the inside of the card.

For the 3^rd panel I used the Mountain Air stamp set again, adhered the stamped panel to the Shaded Spruce panel then to the right side of the card.

The 4^th and final inner panel was sponged using Balmy Blue ink. The sentiment from the Family Party stamp set was stamped in Early Espresso ink. Using the World dies I cut the globe from scrap Early Espresso card and the stand from Gold Foil and added them to the sponged base. This was adhered to the last Shaded Spruce panel and then to the card base.

The remaining large Whisper White panel was adhered to the last Shaded Spruce panel and glued to the back of the card giving somewhere to write a message.

A beautiful pastel, floral card made using the Forever Blossoms stamp set by Stampin' Up

Striped Forever

Here is a lovely striped forever blossoms card in pretty, soft and muted colours.

To recreate the striped Forever Flowers card you will need:

Purple Posy card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper right corner
Blushing Bride – 5½” by 3¾” – rounded upper right corner
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper right corner x 2

Using Post It Notes I masked off a 1” strip towards the top of the card and sponged on some Purple Posy ink.

I moved the Post It Notes down ¾” and coloured the second strip with Blushing Bride ink. The third strip was coloured using Soft Sea Foam ink.

The gorgeous spray of blossoms from the Forever Blossoms stamp set was inked with Memento Tuxedo Black ink and stamped on top of the stripes. So pretty…

The sentiment from the Waterfront stamp set was stamped on the card front in Memento Tuxedo Black.

The stamped layer was glued to the Blushing Bride panel with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive. It was then added to the card front on Dimensionals.

Waterfront

Today I am using the Waterfront stamp set to make a beach hut themed card. I have had this stamp set in my stash for a long time and haven’t used it very much as I was a bit scared of it………….. I know, crazy. I finally realised that you just have to go for it.

To recreate the Waterfront card you will need:

Sahara Sand card base – 8¼” by 5⅞” scored at 4⅛” – rounded upper right corner
Pool Party 3⅞” by 3¼” – rounded upper right corner
Whisper White – 3¾” by 3⅛” – rounded upper right corner
Daffodil Delight – ½” strip
Whisper White – 5⅜” by 3⅝” – rounded upper right corner
Scrap Whisper White

Using Sahara Sand ink I stamped the trees and palm leaves in along the bottom of the Sahara Sand card base. The daffodil delight strip was added to the card front with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

I stamped the ‘beach’ in Sahara Sand 2^nd generation ink onto the centre of the small Whisper White panel. I stamped the ‘sea’ in full strength Pool Part ink I then stamped off onto scrap paper and stamped the sky in the 3^rd generation ink above the beach.

The huts were stamped in Pacific Point ink and Poppy Parade ink. The tree trunks were stamped in full strength Sahara Sand ink and the leaves added in Granny Apple Green ink.

The sun was added with a sponge dauber and Daffodil Delight ink. I stamped multiple times around the image to soften the look. The stamped layer was then adhered to the Pool Party layer with Multipurpose Liquid Adhesive.

The sentiment from the Waterfront stamp set was stamped in Pool Party ink onto scrap Whisper White card and trimmed out. It was added to the card front with liquid glue.

The whole panel was added to the card front on Dimensionals. I added a trio of Woven Threads Sequins to complete the card.
